    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

I have my first cold since surgery and of all things I am craving some of my good old comfort foods! Anyone else gone through this yet? A Frosty from Wendy's is calling my name... Any replacement suggestions?

    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

My nurse told me I could have a whole box of sugar-free Popsicles if I wanted ????. It's the same as having Crystal Light or something like that. Hope the cheese snacks are good... Definitely let us know!
  3. Getting my lap-band revised to RNY was one of the best decisions that I have ever made! There have been ups and downs since my surgery in May but it has all been worth it. I have lost more weight in these last 3 months than I ever did with the band. I am just 3 lbs away from this fabled place I hear of called "one-derland", I can't wait to see 199 on that scale!! I wish you luck on your new journey, you truly deserve some things to go your way after such a long struggle.

    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

91lbs in 3 months is soooooo much better than not bad... I won't have my official 3 month weight until Friday but, I am at about 60 lbs (and I am ecstatic about it!!) I think the fact that you are analyzing what you are putting into your body means that you are on the right track, you are staying accountable and that counts for a lot! I've found recently that I need either a mid morning or late afternoon (planned) snack depending on when I take my lunch hour. But, I am prepared for that and keep healthy stuff in my desk and fridge. I just have to remind myself that this is a process and I am still new to it, I have to learn my limitations and not push them.
  6. Try the hospital pharmacy. I got mine delivered to me bedside just before I checked out!

    Port Problems

One of the main reasons I finally decided to have my band revised to gastric bypass was the port. I never lost enough which for it to show but I could always feel it. Sometimes it seemed worse than others but just it being there began to drive me nuts! Now 3 months after getting it taken out it is still a lingering problem! I ended up with a seroma (pocket of fluid) where the port was removed from. It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. At this point the pain is gone but I still have a very slow leak of drainage as the seroma slowly heals.

I want to share another great source of protein I found last night. Trader Joe's Mahi Mahi burgers. Totally delicious, moist, even straight off the grill and protein packed! One burger has: 110 calories, 5 grams of fat, and 15 grams of protein. I ate 1/2 half of a 3 oz patty and some steamed green beans from my parents garden and was in heaven!!

    Full is different

    Having the feeling currently. Blah!

    Had my surgery today!

I have actually lost more quickly this time around. I had my band placed in 2008 and fought it for years only ever losing about 60 lbs. I had my revision on May 7 and have lost just shy of 50 lbs (including my pre-op weight loss) I am now at my lowest weight since I was 19, I am currently 36. As far as restriction, with me it isn't the same. I don't feel restriction like with the band. I just get full (really quickly). I had to stop myself from looking for the same feeling because it is totally different.

    Getting the protein in

I have a scoop of Genepro protein (30g) powder in my decaf coffee every morning followed by Oiskos Triple Zero Yogurt (1/2 container has 7.5 g) for breakfast. For lunch I will have grilled chicken breast (2 oz gets me about 11g) and some cucumber so I don't go crazy from all protein all the time. For dinner I've been making soups or eating beans where I'll usually get 6-10 g. Depending where I fall for the day I will drink 1/2 of an Isopure icy orange (I am one of the few that can stand them) According to the app I use Lose It I average about 72 grams of protein a day.

    No interest in food

I found that I really had no interest in food until I moved to the solid food stage. I don't ever get hungry like I did pre-op but I just start getting cranky and feeling low if I've gone too long without food. I am finally getting to a point where I am getting Protein from food and not having to choke down the Protein shakes all day. I still drink unflavored protein in my decaf coffee every morning but, I'm getting almost all of the rest from food!

    Bad Knees, yeah right!

Looks like you finally found the right doctor! Congrats on leaving that pain behind!

    Food

Have you tried sugar free Popsicles? I lived off them for a few weeks. Also if cold liquids don't work for you try some tea. I would reach out to your Dr's office as well they will have good advice for you. I have called my Dr's nurse line more than a few times

    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

I haven't tried those but your about the 3 rd person who has mentioned or suggested their nuggets. I will have to try them. How are they really prepared? That what I'd like to know! I thought I'd read something on Twitter feed saying they weren't as healthy as people think if I remember correctly. But don't take my word on it, do research obviously. I read so much and could have gotten facts mixed up lol. I use the app Lose It to track and this is the nutrition info for the 4 piece. Pretty good if you are in a pinch, high on sodium though.

    No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!

Same at my house... and we were vegetarians on top of that! My brother and I asked for Twinkies for Christmas one year. My downfall was in college where I discovered Ben and Jerry's and fried chicken strips!

    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

Has anyone tried the grilled chicken nuggets from Chic-fil-A yet? I had them for lunch yesterday (forgot my packed food on the counter) a 4 piece is just a little too much for me but can't beat 70 calories and 11 grams of protein packed goodness! For me the icing on the cake is getting the Diet Lemonade for later!!!

Wow. You look so much thinner. I know you feel amazing. Congrats The before and after pictures are so inspiring. Thank you so much! I spent so much time looking at other peoples successes before I had surgery. It is so exciting to get to finally Celebrate my own.

    ????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????

I've been inspired to share as well. The left picture is yesterday at just over 8 weeks post op, and the right was taken on my birthday 01/17 just about my high weight! Feeling so much better!
  22. I would call your surgeon ASAP, could be a stricture. I let mine go too long and ended up in the ER severely dehydrated. Better safe than sorry in this case.

@@nancynew have you tried GENEPRO? It is a "tasteless" powder that has 30g of protein for just 1 tbsp. I start my day off with it mixed with decaf coffee and a little SF creamerHello RosemarySo I put Genepro in my decaf coffee this morning. Along with my creamer and it was so good. Blended well , didn't even know it was in there. Have you tried putting Genepro in other things ? I was wondering if it blends well in cold or room temperature foods / drinks. I drink v8 juice , gonna try it in that later today. My NUT said should be whey isolate Proteins. I don't think Genepro is an isolate. I'm going to take it with me to my NUT appt on Monday. She what she thinks. I've read that their claims on product information isn't what it really claims to be. But that's just what I've heard and read. Definitely don't take my word. Research it and show to your dr... That's why I didn't even bother with buying it.... I told my NUT that I was using it every morning and she said that she knew of it. I didn't really get the impression that she had a negative view on it. But, I may have to do more research.

  25. Genepro is the best I've found so far. I mix it with my decaf coffee and a little sugar free creamer every morning and get 30g of protein right off the bat!
