    Hiccups??

Good morning Sleevers! I have been getting hiccups as well. Out of the blue, for no apparent reason. I had them this morning when I woke up, before I ate anything. I also had them last night when I woke up in the middle of the night. I have no idea what they are so I am going to call my surgeons office today. Anyone know what this could be? If I get an answer, I'll post it. ST
  2. OHHHHHHHHH pizza and Beer sound great!! But I know every time I had that pre-sleeve I felt sick after so why try it post sleeve? I suppose I will miss beer and I realize I am not answering your question! I's sorry, I felt compelled to write because you said no one answers. I would love to have a bee this 4th of July but I would RATHER have some bbq shrimp! So I am going to leave room for just that. I read on here that you should make eat bite delicious so not to waste your space! Good Luck GSJourney I hope I haven't bored you! ST

    How to be Successful?

Hi I can tell you as an experienced weight loss loser (meaning I have lost a ton of weight in the past) that 50 minutes of aerobic activity every day restarts most anybody. Obviously, if I had kept that up I wouldn't be at this again! I think for women it is especially important. Not 20, not 30, 50 minutes of sweating. Good luck! ST
  5. I had a very hard time sticking to liquids after my sleeve. I ate a sandwich 2 days after my surgery!! BUT, I was very sick and I think I may have stretched my sleeve. So be very careful. Try to stick with the liquids. If you're having a hard time, talk to your surgeons office. I called them after the sandwich nightmare and they told me to try 3 days more of just liquid then move on to add 1/2-1 oz of very soft Protein. I am 13 days out have had yogurt, Peanut Butter, tuna and even chicken. It's important to remember that everyone is different so be sure to talk to your Dr. but all I keep hearing is "get your protein and Water, don;t worry so much about the rest." I feel great ST

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

I was sleeved June 17th so I am a week and a few days out. I have no pain at all from the surgery. My regular pain is still there! LOL I am doing mostly all liquid/soft food (yogurt, cream soups, jello). I am working in soft soft Protein --about 1 ounce per day. Not very hungry and drinking a lot of Water. Have not done much exercise as I am limited by my pain but I am doing a lot of moving around the house, cleaning and staying busy with projects. As soon as I heal, I can get back in the pool to exercise. Had my post surgical office visit on 6/26 and I had lost 13 lbs. ST

    Starting Preop Liquid Diet Today

Not to encourage anything, but the night before my sleeve surgery I went crazy and ate a giant hunk of cheesecake! My surgery went fine. ST

    Sleeved June 24th & I have questions

WOW! You have a lot to think about! Hi KeepOnRockin! I stayed on pain meds for 6 days. I really did not need them on day 4 but if I moved around or did some walking, I had some pain. NEVER wait for the pain to get so bad that you MUST have a pill. Take it when you feel about 5/10 on the pain scale. Once the pain gets too high it is so much harder to get rid of. This soon after surgery don't worry so much about "bariatric" Vitamins. My Dr. told me to concentrate on getting calcium from milk/protein shakes and not to start the chewable vitamins for at least 10 days--no matter how much you chew them they are a "hard" food. Unless your low on Iron, the sleeve won't make you low in iron. Trying to get the Protein and learning how your new belly works is really enough right now. You're gonna be fine ST

    Need advise!

^5 Yes, be honest. If you're worried, go get your own evaluation. Perhaps your primary doctor would be willing to explain why she included it and perhaps why she now feels you're ready? Sometimes your regular Dr. knows more about you than someone new. It will get better. ST

    Overnight Bag

Well tomorrow is the big day eh? You're going to be fine. I brought my cell phone charger, my own pillow and soft jammies and fresh underwear to put on after surgery. Some hospitals want you in the gown, but no one minded that I put on short sleeve top and shorts. I did NOT sleep and have a very hard time sleeping in hospitals so I walked a lot. They gave me toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, socks. If it hurts--ask for more pain meds!!! I am just shocked that some of the other patients would not ask for it--it made getting up and walking SO much easier !! I did not touch my hair, makeup, nothing until the following day when I was leaving. Then just a pony tail and the jammies I had on. You're going to feel better fast! Good luck! ST

    Sleeve Stretched?

Thank you Babbs! I need a kick in the ass! I am going to stick to the post-op liquid diet for 5 more days. Clearly I am not ready to "handle" anything else. Plus, I have so much broth and Jello left. ST

    Sleeve Stretched?

Oh, I hope someone reads this and can help me-if in fact I have a problem. I am 10 days post sleeve and started working in soft Proteins yesterday. Today I was stuck away from home and made 1/2 a bologna sandwich at my friends. I had NO trouble eating, did not feel full and almost ate the other half. Is my sleeve too big? Did I somehow stretch it? I felt very restricted the last 10 days but I never threw up any food or felt sick from too much. I realize this is a very specific problem, but did any one else feel just fine eating soft proteins, and BREAD right away? I thought I would never be able to eat bread again. ST

    Repeatedly overeating

WE'VE BEEN LIED TO Hiya Ladies and Gents! This is my first real reply/post to the forums but it is something I have wanted to say to "us" for a long time. NOT EVERY FAT PERSON IS EMOTIONALLY EATING!!!!! My goodness, that feels good! And I didn't have to eat anything to feel it or not to feel it. Why is it that doctors, therapists, TV talk show hosts, nutritionists and the like are always saying "stop eating your emotions", "you're going to have to really deal with your feelings to stop overeating (or diet or have a GS or lose weight in any way). Did it ever occur to any one of them that we are just normal emotional and feeling people who eat too much because our bodies want us to? Before I go on too long (and I will save most of my opinion for later) I want to say this: I was fat when I was 3 weeks old. I was fatter at 3 months old, I was fatter at 3 years old. Those 3 week old fat cells are still in my body and they want FOOD! I was eating all the time before this surgery and still had plenty of emotions. Healthy ones, normal ones. I am not an inept, flaky, neurotic nelly who can't make it through the day without having a break down and eating a Whopper. OKAY, enough said for now. I have plenty more to say about this but I would like to read some replies and ideas out there. I'll be back with the science to back me up! Congrats to all of you --I am just a week post-op and I know it's hard. I also know I can handle it. ST
  15. My BIG straw?? The Dr. telling me I was diabetic and had to start taking medication. I watched my friend suffer and ultimately die from complications due to diabetes. It was hard to put a "goal weight" down for me here because I just want to be free of diabetes.
