Mental evaluation
Running2theSleeve replied to capricec's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine totaled 450 items. So evidently I don't think my thighs are too big. So, if you think your thighs are too big (as I do) you could fail their test? -
Psychologist appointment?
Running2theSleeve replied to scarlep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, your nutritionist/dietician helps with nutrition, food plans, eating behavior, and anything to do with your food. The psychologist/therapist makes sure you have the mental and emotional tools for the surgery and aftermath as well as other related emotional/mental issues (food addiction, addiction transfer, body image, self esteem, depression, etc. etc.) lol I thought Nut meant like Nut Job coo-coo, so it was referring to the psych/therapist. Thanks for clarifying! -

I just realized that "Nut" was the nutritionist and not the psychologist/ psycharatrist = Nut Job. Lol -
Psychologist appointment?
Running2theSleeve replied to scarlep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told him about my weight history and that I started to get depressed right after I got pregnant because of all the weight I was gaining and after I gave birth I started to gain more weight and couldn't lose the weight and that I asked my gynecologist to see if she would give me a referral to see a psychologist but I never went to see one because she gave me anti depressants (I never took them) maybe that's why he asked to see me again :/ but I told him about this app how it helped me understand the things that can happen post op like stalls, weight gain, my nut told me if you overeat all the time it can stretch ,I'm aware of all the risk and honestly I just want to be healthy I'm a low risk of becoming diabetic and I don't want that to happen. I hope everything changes after I see him again Is there a difference between the NUT and the psychologist/psychiatrist? -
Approval: Healthcare Exchange Plan - BCBSIL
Running2theSleeve replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Insurance & Financing
That's awesome. I have BCBSIL PPO and the surgery is covered under my employers contract. It has to be deemed medically necessary! Well, I fall within the guidelines of what BCBSIL require >40 and I can see a Master's Degree or higher NUT to say I'm mentally stable and understand what's expected before, during and after surgery. But ... My surgeon, through Cadence Health Bariatric Treatment Program, @ Central Dupage Hospital is having me to meet with my PCP for bloodwork and a letter stating there are no medical contraindications to surgery and a release to exercise, NUT, Pulmonologist, consult with an Exercise Specialist prior to surgery, Gastroenterologist eval or blood test to screen for H.pylori, an ECD and attend at least 1 support group. This along can take months. Is all this needed to help with the approval from the insurance company? -
What to do when no one supports ... Your decision
Running2theSleeve replied to Running2theSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told by my Dietitian that Bariatric support groups at their location were really resourceful and supportive. They would like me to attend at least one class before surgery - so I will definitely give it a try! Well wishes to you! -

I work for a small (but big) company and I haven't told my boss (the owner) yet. I'm not sure if I am going to tell them about the WLS or just say I'm having an outpatient procedure and will need time off? -

I'm a newbie and I realize now that food is not for the enjoyment for me but just fuel for our bodies.. Bad fuel bad functioning. I looovvvveeee Coolatas but I know what I love is no good for me. I almost hate food because it's brought me nothing but trouble. I eat to give my body what it needs not what it wants... Period. I have 3 kids 21, 10 & 8 and they have brought what they've learned in school home regarding healthy eating..I just have to support it! I loooovvveee potato chips! I can have bags for dinner and a glass or two of wine. I can't buy chips for them or me .. I will eat them sleeve bypass or not! This weight loss thing is about power of the mind.. My will does me no good so I let my higher power will be done- even if it's my sleeve -
Since I've gained more weight my sex life with my forever man has just been like Blah! We've been together for 8 years and he tells me and I know he loves me but misses the freak inside me. I just feel so silly trying sometimes and others hell I can't breathe with legs flipped and turned every where. Today he just went to bed cuz of the struggle lol but I'm just as fustrated as him! He says when I loose the weight he scared I'm going to change... Yay! Imma want to engage more! I'm sexually fustrated! Just want to get things right ...

Running2theSleeve replied to snapdragon05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I don't want to have anymore food funerals! My main issue will be before and after ...the people closest to me; We meet to eat. I could never imagine not telling my "circle of trust " about my surgery though! We really say our opinions but keep it moving cause opinions are like a**holes.. Everyone will have them. My people know me if I want it I'm go get it or do it... Period! But I know if anything happened I would need them .. No shame ... See me next summer .. I know what you mean. I am getting sleeved on July 6th! I am anxious + a bit nervous. I wish you well. God bless. Good luck on your surgery ... Would love to see progression pics -

I look forward to diving into the pool and not sitting on the side line too embarrassed to put on a suite. I was on the swim team and my 3 children love the Water and swimming. I probably never do a bikini because I have the old school C-section scar. -
Anxious over approval ????
Running2theSleeve replied to AllthingsApple's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was told a pre-cert can take up to 30 days. I think that's just standard and what they are trained to say if they do get behind. Same as Shipping 7-10 business days but you get it in 3 days???? @@AllthingsApple ... Best of luck! Keep us posted! -
I would definitely call. What if something did happen? Better safe than a hold up. I've called BCBS IL 3 times and my surgeon's office twice. My first appointment isn't until July 6. I don't like wondering or worrying so go to the source for answers- first. Good luck!

Hello guys and gals! I'm Rhonda from Chicago and I have my first appoint with my Surgeon July 6 and wish I could get sleeved July 7. I'm so ready to get my life back on a healthy road and wouldn't mind seeing them curves again too! It seems like I'm having a food funeral wanting and craving everything. Even things I really don't indulge in like soda. It's like my head saying eat it all before you won't again. I don't want to gain and then have to loose even more! Did anyone else have this pre op? Great thread- glad I found this one! Well wishes to all???? -
This is great news to hear! I have BCBS IL and spoke with CS rep to go over my benefits. She was really helpful and even directed me to BCBS site to read the requirements. And now you confirmed it- BMI>40 qualifies me with no comorbities. Did you have to get your PCP to sign off or was your Surgeon recommendation suffient? Along with psych eval and netting with Dietician - what else did you have to do? So happy for you!

Exercise two week post op is everyone getting?
Running2theSleeve replied to Luv`n_all-of_Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hoping that's how my experience goes with my insurance. My insurance no longer requires a weight loss regimen for a required duration of time i.e. 6 months
