Not losing a great deal of weight on the pre-op diet
AJ cowgirl replied to C2CFOREVER's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How is it going? -
How is your activity level and when are you eating your meals. ? I get really stuck too. I have done a few correction days - clear liquids. And then back to softs. I'm trying paleo meals, (sliced low sodium deli roast beef) my thyroid got off track too and needed my medication upped. I found that if I eat protein meals before 4 pm and a shake made with water at 6 pm. I was better off. Also. The deli will measure the meat in 4oz servings.

I'm 3 weeks out and now pain
AJ cowgirl replied to armiller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is kind of what it feels like, although, worse than I'm used to in that department. I was told by a nurse that had it...hormones and your cycle can be more in volume afterwards...maybe that's it, has been 3 weeks!?!?. Feeling the same way. Left ovary pain, and a bit higher. I called my clinic and got the hormone talk too. 3weeks out at 45. I'm using liquid Tylenol before bed, and I'm up at 2 am writing this. It's been about 4 days and my felt like gas too. Then moved lower. -
I was sleeved last Tuesday 6/16/15 and feel that I have been doing well. Water at 80 oz, two Protein shakes and 3 clear liquid meals. My worry is that is is getting easier too fast! I have been able easily get my required water down in the morning with out gulping or having pains. I've already walked over a .5 miles today Had a BM and feel pretty well- Has anyone had this experience. In all my research it showed folks on YouTube struggling daily for water and shakes and food was a huge issue and I'm not having issues at all. I was on s Clear liquids for 14 days, pre-op. Now full liquids for 14 days, then purée 14 days, soft 14 days, and then reg diet. I worried that Im on the road to a Jinx situation. Feed Back Please

I'm there too! Temped to go back to clear liquids! Stalled for 2weeks on full liquids, I never ate this much sodium (in the soup and cottage cheese) so I'm hoping for a change with purée meats and vegetables!

I had similar pain. Dr told my I have a few internal stitches that may feel like pulling. They closed off the pericardium with stitches when they pulled the lap tools out. Sleeved 6/16/2015 -
Duration of Recovery time?
AJ cowgirl replied to animallover1247's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also a social worker, took about 10 days off. I work at two different inpatient hospitals one is behavioral health and the other setting is medical. So I was able to kind of manage my eating and drinking in between patients. I will say that when I work at the big medical center there's a lot more walking so I have asked to be assigned to smaller units. It's kind of nice I've been watching over the babies and working OB. Even though I don't have a lot of lifting, I am finding that I'm coming home and crashing to go to sleep at about 730 at night and I wake up at 5 AM to go walk. I live in Arizona so you have to beat the heat.. Sleeved 6/16/15 -
6 Months wait time, I have a case manager
AJ cowgirl replied to MIMISAN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a fellow sleever (6-16-15) and a Medical Social Worker. I understand the insurance made you feel odd, but be happy they are caring enough for you to make the requirements that they did. I have worked with a few patients years after surgery that perhaps did a WLS for expectations that were not fixed with surgery. Such as new job, abusive partner, substance abuse, and other issues that really where not going to be changed without very hard work. Many of the insurance companies want successful outcomes for you and make very tough standards because of the rates of psycho-social issues of failed WLS folks whom maybe had the wrong expectations. -
Cranky sleeve: need some advice please
AJ cowgirl replied to mchap25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try mashed cauliflower in the blender I do mine with some protein powder and I can't belive it's not butter... It looks and kinda tastes like mashed potatoes. You may have to wean yourself over to it.. Try mixing the potatoes in with less each time. Also have you tried almond milk. Even the chocolate is good. You may need to add some benefiber too. I have an angery sleeve too and found that 5 meals of a spoonful was better - sleeved June 16, 2015 -

Post sleeved Group Question

Sorry to hear that. I have always been a water guzzler if that is any help. Have you met with your doctor? Another who had to set a goal to drink every hour, are you on Prilosec too? This seamed to be a big help in the beginning. -
I did go with in addition to Chapstick which was a blessing. It was a positive attitude. I think that was huge. My surgeon does surgeries on Mondays and Tuesdays. I was sleeved on Tuesday. So if you can imagine the halls were full of people attempting to walk after their procedure as there is only a 12 bed unit. Now I'm not Susie sunshine but there were quite a few people that were very negative about the experience which then I believe probably affected how they felt. I have the expectation that it was going to hurt and how much pain I was willing to put up with. I never let my pain get past a bad period pain, just a little higher. However I did find a lot of relief in walking. I literally walked until almost 11 o'clock at night the first day at least every hour about 200 to 300 feet each time. As I was walking through the hallway there were some such as myself, and then others who appeared very miserable and extremely medicated. I guess just set a limit for yourself and really push to get moving. On my one week postop surgery I walked 1 mile with my dogs at home. I started walking during my mandatory supervised weigh ins for four months. At that time I could only go about .2 miles and slowly build myself up to where I'm at now. I think that I really anticipated a lot of pain because of the YouTube or other blogs but I have been blessed with a great experience I hope yours goes well too.

Had my VSG June 16 and feel ok. I'm on full liquids and getting bored with that. Trying to get creative with recipes for liquids... Feel great until this morning. I feel hot flash hot. But my temp is 97.8 so I don't think is a fever. I believe my metabolizing is warming up to the 70g of Protein. Drinking ok. Just green after Vitamins, need to take them after I drink Water. -
