  1. Make sure to walk while on the plane. You want to keep the blood flowing to prohibit blood clots.

    Slow Weight Loss

My suggestion is to stop worrying and comparing yourself with other people's weight loss. This is a journey that takes time. The weight will come off. I lost 2lbs a week for 8 months. I didn't lose my hair and I felt great. Good luck.

    Stall

The three week stall is real. It will pass and the scale will start moving again soon.

    Alcohol

I waited 3 months. I must admit I don't miss drinking it at all.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

I was sleeved on 9/21/15 at the age of 60. For the first time in my life I have hope that I will be able to keep my weight under control. This has been one of the best decision I've made. I'm from Michigan.
  6. My story is very similar to yours. I'm a very strong woman and have made wise decisions in life but I always felt like a failure with my weight. I too, had watched all the videos about WLS that had turned out badly but at 60 years old I was out of options. My surgery was very successful without any problems. My point is you have made a very wise decision to have your surgery. I did not have the option when I was your age and I struggled my whole life. I bet I had lost and gained over 400 pounds in my life. Surgery is not a free pass to weight loss. You will still have to battle every day with food BUT you now will have a fighting chance and hope for a healthy life. BTW the three week stall after surgery is real. It will pass! Best of luck on your journey and believe me when I say it will be a journey.
  7. What she really was saying was"I wish I had the strength to let go of my food addiction and face my problems like you."

    I'm not a garbage pail

I can look at a chocolate cake and not think twice about eating it. When my husband brought home a bag of pretzels I had ask him to throw them out. I was obsessed with eating just one, then two, by the time I ate the third one I felt myself slipping into my old ways. I learned very quickly that it is okay to pitch trigger food and not have it in the house.

    Anesthesia...

The last thing was when the mask came on I said to myself "here we go!" When I woke up in the OR I asked my doctor when he was going to start the surgery. He later told mr that was the first time he heard that from a patient. He must hear a lot of crazy stuff!

    I'm finally warm!

Boy, I can relate. Im always cold now. Right now I have on two fleece jackets and I'm sitting under a heavy blanket. I don't mind because in the past I was always so warm.
  13. Remember that drinking is a choice and never a requirement. You are the one to make the choice.

    Stuck! Help!

I agree, walking is the only way that helped me when I ate too much. I learned my lesson early on and I now immediately stop eating when I get the first feeling of fullness.
