Who else had a surgery date 10/28/15?

I was sleeved on 10/25, close to the end of the Full Liquids. Thank goodness too cause I need something to chew lol. I work in a kitchen, lots of walking. I returned to work 8 days post op. People were surprised to see me back so soon, but I couldn't stay in my house anymore. I got bored and the tv food commercials were making me head hungry and irritated lol. Work has kept me busy. :-)

    Questions for women only

Waited a little over a week. The drive is gone but I think it could be just because I was more concerned about what type of pain it would cause during or after. My doctor suggested to wait minimum of 2 weeks and only if I felt comfortable (pain or discomfort). I had to lay on my side through it, but I was comfortable lol

    What's the best protein bar?

Think thin bars are delicious! I love the brownie crunch.
  5. Coming from a Hispanic family that also pushes food on me, I thought of taking these "holidays" as a holiday away from them as well. God bless!
  6. I just wanted to thank everyone for the support before and after. But I also wanted to stress how walking really does help the stomach cramps and pain. The incentive spirometer also is a great help. Listen to the nurses they are helping you! God bless!
  7. Glad to see someone has been able to post op continue it. I was worried I'd have to give it up. I smoke daily myself. Thank you for sharing!
  8. Just found out that my program doesn't require the preop liquid diet! Oh man it feels good to know I won't have to prepare for that. I've heard stories. People saying they missed chewing the most! Anyways. I'm just waiting in insurance review I think! Then we'll be setting a date I assume. How exciting!

    Sweet tooth

I'm grateful to have read this, I was anxious about MISSING like brownies... which has been hard to give up, but none in over 2 weeks! I'm preop, waiting on insurance approval. I want to be ready and headstrong when I go in. Giving it up will only drive me further into success!

    Preop newbie still

Just no 2 week liquid diet! My friend scared me a few weeks into my program, felt like she was gonna die and that she missed chewing. I've been dreading it but I was determined to get through it. But my doctor gave me the news yesterday. Sigh of relief. Weight off my shoulders kind of thing. As a sufferer of anxiety, this was literally haunting my nightmares and daily thoughts of failing through the 2 weeks. Thanks for encouragement! I've been preparing for post op liquids. I've been trying out sugar free everythings. But just the convo with her spooked me!

    Hello all! Newbie!

I'm sorry you felt that way! My friend had hers done in February and same situation - she gets sick when she tries to eat properly. I suggest to find another nutritionist experienced in your type of surgery and look at options at solving it. Maybe it's a case of having to take certain otc medication to hold down the food or I've heard of some people switching from bypass to sleeve (I didn't read full post before I read comments sorry... I just wanted to show some quick support hopefully before you delete the app). Good luck on your journey!

    6 month wait...

YES, I agree, I spoke to a friend who had surgery just a few months ago who didn't do same program as I did and she has already gained most of her weight back due to not taking Vitamins, eating properly etc. I don't think she was well informed of anything, I'm glad mine took almost 6 months. I learned so much more by thoroughly going through the workbook my nutritionist gave me and general research I did whenever I had random questions up until I found this app. Take the time to go through it the right way so that it sinks in properly and your body won't go into shock from lack of *insert your comfort food here* (mine is fudge frosting apparently, I found that out 3 months into the program when I kept buying it for no reason lol)

    6 month wait...

Mine was supposed to only be 3 months but due to certain doctors not taking my insurance and being overloaded on appointments, mine has taken about 5 months. But I'm down 45 lbs total, instead of the 25 they originally asked for lol Take one step at a time. It gets easier to make each healthy choice, so just pace yourself. Good luck!

Haven't set date up yet. In final weight loss program stages. Everything is set, the normal doctor that does the psych eval didn't take my insurance so the one I scheduled with wasn't available until July.
  20. How long do they normally take to respond in the state of Texas? Whether it was approved or denied. Thanks in advance! God bless!
  21. Okay. Tomorrow I weigh in for 3rd month and meet with surgeon. Did so well, hit a plateau, didn't meet my goal weight by 6 lbs? Might be because my period is about to start and I always bloat up before and during. But I'm stressed and just wanted to know what's the likelihood of being denied for 6 lbs? 10% was 25lbs, I started the actual program at 255.2, but I weighed 280 previously but had started topiramate and low calorie diet before program. The clinic and my insurance has records of my previous weight, although I doubt they can "count" it, or whatever. Whether it's positive or negative, I'd like to know what's likely to happen so I can mentally prepare.... thanks in advance!
  22. Oh thank goodness! Puts me at little more at ease then. Thank you!
