    COMPULSION to eat?

I use to wake up thinking about what I was going to eat for the day. Food was always on my mind. BUT, when you start getting fills that will totally go away. First of all if you even try to eat pizza, it will come back up. The first year is the hardest because you are getting your fills and trying to get use to your new life. Get the fills on time and the weight will come off. I never think about food now.

    What Have I Done?

You may need to get another fill. Also, when I gain weight it is usually because I am eating too much sugar. I would see if I could get a fill. That will help alot!
  3. Ask if you can take a BC powder. It doesn't taste great but the liquid Tylenol was too sweet for me. I also use Goodys headache powders in Orange flavor. It works great!!

    lapband not working

At first you still have that urge to eat and alot.......lets face it, thats why we were fat. But after some fills you will get to the point that your not hungry all the time and you can control it. How long has your dr been doing this kind of surgery, it doesn't sound like she gets it. The fills helped me alot, without them I would still be fat. The fills took away the urge to eat, I very seldom get hungry now.

Will I fail at this too?

Ok, Heres my 2 cents.....I had those same feelings, I have done every diet out there and spent tons of money just to fail and gain back everything I lost. I was concerned that the lap band would be the same old thing but more expensive, I kept gaining and gaining and overeating and started all my diets on Monday. Let me just say that the lap band has saved my life.....the weight loss is slow at first until you start getting fills. After 2 or 3 fills you start feeling a detachment with food. I would look at a pizza and just know that I can't eat that and my urge would go away. Towards the end of your first year, you should be pretty tight and I will tell you that there is NO way I could ever gain back all my weight. First of all you can't eat much food and you really get to the point that you don't care about food anymore! I know that sounds weird but its true. I'm a Texas girl and everything we eat is fried and with gravy. The only regret I have with the lap band is that I waited until I was 50 to do it. Go for it!!

I can barely eat 1/4 cup of food!

The point of the surgery is to lose weight. Try some slim fast for a day or so and see if you still feel this way. After a fill, I was not hungry anyway.

    Back Pain

They fill you up with gas for the surgery, it can be very painful. Chew the gas X, try walking and if thay doesn't work get out a heating pad and lay on it. I had most of my pain in my shoulder, the heating pad really worked for me. Good Luck, it will get better each day!

    Looking for self-pay DFW area

At first the weight loss is good, then it will slow down a bit. It depends on how much you exercise. If you get your fills like you are suppose to, there is no way you will not lose weight. You can't cram a pizza or cheeseburger in that pouch anymore (I promise you). The main thing is that you will not be hungry and looking for food anymore. If that happens, just get a fill and it will be over! After a while you will look at something and say to yourself, I can't eat that and it will be ok. If it will keep me of Mexican food, it is a gift from God. If you are basically healthy, there is no need to be fat anymore with this surgery. It will be the best thing you can do for yourself, if you bought a car with this money, in 4 to 5 years it will be wore out. In 4 to 5 years your body will be awesome!!

    Looking for self-pay DFW area

I totally agree with txjanaa1. I used Dr. Benavides too, its been over a year and I have had NO problems at all. He is awesome and his staff is too. The cost is 15,000 with a year of fills. After a year you will probably not need anymore fills. His staff can help with financing or whatever you need. Remember, you get what you pay for!
  10. Most of the pain is from the gas they fill you up with for the surgery. Try laying a heating pad on your tummy and shoulder, this helped me alot. You might try walking too, once the gas is gone you will fill great! Hang in there

    First Fill Questions?

Your port is probably not under your incision but below it to the left. I had all my fills from nurses and they did this all day. Don't worry, they know where the port is. It may feel a bit strange the first time, but it doesn't hurt and it is over quickly. You can go back to work or go shopping afterwards. I always lost weight after fills

    Is It Worth It??

OK, I messed around for a year asking that same question, gaining another 30 lbs. The answer is YES. If there was anything in this world you could do for yourself that is really life changing, this is it! You will give up diet drinks, breads, beer, cakes and alot of other bad stuff that you think that you can't live without, but guess what.....you will not care. The scale will go down and down. Maybe up once in a while but mostly down. I can now buy clothes in the misses dept and not the plus size. There is no food better than that!! Pick a skilled surgeon and you will love your decision.

Ever feel its not worth it?

This is from the gas they fill you up with for the surgery. Try a heating pad.....put it on where ever it hurts and this will help. It is worth it believe me. This will be life changing and you will fill like nothing ever happened in a few days.
  14. It has been 10 months since my surgery and I have lost 80 lbs. I feel great and everything is going well except lately I have been having some acid reflux come up at night. It wakes me up and is horrible. I have not done this before and don't know whats up. Has anyone had this happen and what is the cause?

    Lap Band Solutions~Dr Benavides???anyone?

I used Dr. B and loved him. The surgery went well, the fills went well, and I have lost 80 lbs. I have one little scar that I think will go away like the others. I was told that unless you are having problems that I would only see his staff, and they are great.
  16. OK, I asked this question while I was trying to decide on the surgery. It took me a year to make my decision to do it. I can tell you that this is the best thing I have ever done for ME. I have lost 60 lbs and I know that I can never gail it back. I have a hard time eating cakes and cupcakes and when I look at them instead of saying to myself I will eat only one, I say I can't eat these because they will come back up. It sounds weird but I now don't even consider eating certain things that I pigged out on before. I would beg borrow or steal to do this surgery again if I had to!!
  17. Don't worry, you will really start to feel some restriction after a fill and a whole lot after 2 or 3 fills.
