  1. Happy 48th Birthday TripletMom!

  2. thank you ALL for your replies as well as all the info, which REALLy helps. I can only speak for myself but it really helps when I know I'm not alone (like the first time I saw someone with stretch marks that wasn't fat! or a muscular guy wearing lycra under shorts so his thighs didn't rub and get rash! wow, not just fat people issues heh heh) I was told in lap band class when dietician/nurse was asked about fills and timeline, the response was .. "it depends on the person, some people never have fills and some people have it at 6 weeks". Well, know I know what my expectations should be so that is half the battle. GO BICYCLE TIME!
  3. Hey guys. I'm a little frustrated. I guess with the surgery, I expected to fill FULL on minimal amount of food. At 2 week checkup I told surgeon (actually partner of surgeon that did the surgery) I told him I was starving all the time and was already eating real food. I haven't had ANY issues with stomach except occasion when I ate 1/2 small bag of cooked carrots since I was so hungry. I can eat how much and whatever I want. I lost 10 lbs during 1st 2 weeks. I actually gained couple lbs last week and then decided on Monday I'll just have to starve because I was NOT going to let the weight come back on. I had actually called surgeon to see if I could go back on phentermine so that I wasn't so hungry. They made me feel stupid because they said stomach was just healing and I had to wait 6 weeks after initial 2 week post-op visit. I then went online and found you all and was relieved to see that I wasn't the only person. And, that I needed to be a little more aggressive with doctor concerning fills and that it was normal to feel hungry in the beginning and that is why people go get fills. So, I called back and said I was really hungry, why do I have to wait 2 months after surgery to have next appointment. I was told that that is when my surgeon (his partner) thought that I needed to come back and that it varies with each individual. I have never met this guy and I literally spent maybe 10 minutes total with him. (My doctor was on vacation). I was so depressed so I started eating but I STOPPED thank goodness. I have lost the couple lbs I gained and back to net 10 or 11 lbs. I just kept thinking I had this surgery and I'm still at the same place I was at before the surgery and nothing changed. Please, someone tell me that I will feel the difference at some point. My personality is normally pretty upbeat but the last couple weeks have been a challenge because of the unknown. So, now that I got permission from surgeon to ride my bike, I'm back to exercising 40 minutes a day on recumbent exercise bike (and watching NETFLIX InstantWatch Online movies since exercise is so boring to me) the last 4 days so that make me feel as though I am really doing something and being healthy. I healed very fast (incisions) so I'm thinking that same probably internally and probably no inflamation which is why food and Water just going through me as normal. Can someone share with me how much they think I should go with at the first fill and how long I should wait between each fill? I'm looking for advice from someone who has experienced the same thing as me.

I was not excited about it until the surgery was over. I am so happy because I know this time I won't fail because it's not a DIET. And, even though I get ravenous more quickly, it's just an itty bitty bites of food that makes me full which is the coolest. I'm not trying to be perfect in eating which is a first for me. Trying to accept the "gray" and realize that YES, I did have a chocolate kiss and look, I still lost weight anyway. IT IS SO WONDERFUL... I'm glad I did it even though I had some second thoughts about going through with it.

YEAH! that is awesome! "someone" is rooting for you and making it happen! Good luck. Take it easy. I have to say I am more sore last couple days than I have been. Think it might be the coughing thing (have upper respiratory infection - first in lifetime but probably because I had slight cold during surgery but I'd DO IT AGAIN! hee hee.

I also have been doing some soul-searching and decided that DIETS don't work because unless I change why/how I am feeding my emotions and stress, I will have the same issues as soon as I go off the diet. For the 2 months pre-surgery, I started making weekly goal sheets (posted for all to keep me honest) and added 1 goal a week (started small so I wouldn't feel overwhelmed) I started out with 5 minutes riding exercise bike. That was all I had to do for the first week each day and I told myself that this was a lifestyle change. I then added nutritional Breakfast the next week. Then I made the exercise to 10 minutes. THen I added listening to positive tapes and writing positive affirmations. I was up to riding bicycle 40 minutes. I gave myself permission to allow some wiggle room and that if I met all my goals, 5 out of 7 days.. then I'm doing good. And, the reason why this is going to work is because I am putting myself first (within reason) and I must accomplish my goals on that worksheet above all else because I need to do it for ME. I always take care of others before myself and am SUPER MOM but I have to show my kids that being healthy comes first. I took the focus of weightloss and made the focus on "healthy". I have to be honest, I am still going to have a piece of chocolate here and there because it is wrong to completely deny yourself. It makes me want it more if I say I can't have it. I just need to learn moderation, what a true "healthy portion", and that what I eat now does affect me NOW and that I'm lucky I am healthy considering how heavy I am but it will be too late when I see the bad effects of being heavy. I am ridding myself of the all or nothing mentality and learning it's okay to not be "perfect" if I make an unwise food choice. BTW, thanks to all for responding to other post. I didn't know how to see replies or reply because I'm new at the chat forum. Take care. God bless. I wish you all wonderful success and to be "nice" to yourselves. I DESERVE being fit and LEAN. woohooo!

    Put in ICU after surgery

I had surgery on Friday Dec 21) and am back to work today with no problems (Wednesday). Of course, I work from home in the "dungeon" and am a computer geek . Little sore from sitting up but otherwise, I'm cool. I vaccumed yesterday with no pain meds so I am zipping along. I think you just need to listen to body and go from there. I have sleep apnea also (10 out of 20 on settings for CPAP) and I was in surgery at 1:30pm and home by 6:30-7pm. My guess is that they probably decide by each case and take everything into consideration.
  11. :whoo:Yes, it finally happened. After 8 months of working through qualifying and visits and finally getting the approval from insurance company less than 24 hours of surgery date/time.. Phew, I was sweating there for a little bit. I had reached out of pocket max for the year and would save considerably if done this year and YIPPEE.... it went through. I just wanted to say HELLO! It's going well...
