sleeved 8/4/15 and feeling great...BUT....
wingsguy99 replied to flipper72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on having the surgery!!! I worried about the fluids myself, but after several days, as the other posts state, I my liquid intake increased substantially. Since my sleeve, I've been on the borderline of constantly thirsty, so that helps me to get my fluids in (I used to drink at least a gallon of Water PLUS a day). Just remember that when your newly stitched up stomach tells you that it's "full", it's REALLY FULL! (I overdrank water one evening and it was just backed up in my esophagus... and it could not go down, so....you know....). I learned my lesson to pay attention to what my belly tells me when it comes to drinking my water/fluids, as well as eating my meals. Good luck, and again, congratulations!! -

Complications following surgery
wingsguy99 replied to joego2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey joego2014, it's me again... I was wondering if they have been able to tell you why they could not bring you out of the anesthesia after the surgery... Was it due to an allegic reaction to the drugs they used to put you under? Was there some other underlying (or hidden) health issue that caused your body to not want to "wake up" afterwards? I'm curious because I have lost two friends in a similar manner in which they had pretty basic surgeries, but due to complications resulting from the anesthesia, or the process itself, they just never came back after being put under. I'm really glad that you made it through, sir! And if it's too private, no worries. Like I said, I'm just wondering due to it being very similar to what happened to a couple good friends that did not make it back. Cheers! Steve -

Hey JoeGo2014! Thank God that you're still with us, man! When I clicked on your posting, I certainly was not expecting to hear about the unbelievable and unfortunate situation that you found yourself in when you awoke from your procedure/surgery! I'm not big on replying here, and I'm a newbie myself (sleeve gastrectomy June 29, 2015). I just wanted to reach out to you to say "Hang in there, man!" It sounds like you've held on and turned the corner and are finally able to start the road to recovery and better health. I've lost a little over 40 lbs. since the day of my surgery, and thankfully I have not had any of the difficulty that you've been made to endure. The good thing is that you made it through, and although the journey will be more difficult for you, you've got friends out here that are going to help you through anything that you feel you need help with. For me, I mostly just need the daily reminders that there are people out there having great success with this process, and folks who have had it a LOT tougher than I do. I just thank God that I made the decision to do this, and found this forum. I'm looking forward to hearing your progress updates, as I'm happy to share mine with you as well. I'm 49, 5'6", and my starting weight was just under 400 lbs. I passed the 300 lb. milestone last Tuesday morning (YESSSS!!!), and feel pretty good. Feel free to contact me if you wish. Good luck, and take care. We're all pulling for you, JoeGo2014! Regards, Steve -

Okay, well, it must have taken my body to know that I posted on this site because about 30 minutes after, I had success. A small victory and a lot of relief to know that my body is working the way that it should after the Sleeve Gastrectomy. I hope that everyone else eventually can "move" beyond this small hurdle in the process! And one more thing to those that have not "gone" yet... It seems to be and will continue to be VERY different than it was before the surgery. Just keep that in mind and be prepared for a very "loose" situation when your time comes! ;o) Good luck!! -

I actually had my sleeve done on Monday June 29, 2015. The last movement that I had was on the Sunday morning before due to the bowel prep the day before... Since then, I have not had to go and have been wondering these same things. My nurse told me that I should not worry and to use the Miralax that the doctor prescribed to me to help move things along. She did explain that since I'm on a liquid diet, my first time or two will be all liquid; liquid in = liquid out. I have yet to go since my surgery, and will call the nurse tomorrow if I have not been able to go. Thing is, I'm not uncomfortable at all, and don't feel the need to go yet. The way I understand it, when my body is ready to go, it will allow me to go. As long as I'm passing gas and urinating without difficulty, there's not much to worry about. I'll update tomorrow though after I speak to the nurse again.
