  1. Hello fellow sleevers, I was sleeved on 2/29/16 and I have to say even with some of the minor complications, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for "myself". Being a dedicated wife and mom, everyone else became a priority and before I knew it I had ballooned up to around 274 and at 46, it was affecting my health. Anyway, at my heaviest and while waiting for surgery approval I would browse this website for encouragement and I would find it. I wanted to post my before and after pics to hopefully encourage someone else. Btw... I am 5'8 and my health has dramatically improved (woo hoo). I would still like to lose another 15-20 pounds... @@redfire_angel75, for me it has been easier exercising now then before surgery, my only hiccup has been my gout but it seems to have subsided... Thank God!! I'm not sure if my age had anything to do with it but I had a lot of fatigue and not much energy, especially with in the first 2 months. I found my stride soon after and now I've been told it's hard to keep up lol I'm so excited for you, this was a life changer for me and I'm sure it will be the same for you too!!! Take lots of pics along your journey, you will be shocked and encouraged by the changes. Here's a before and after pic of my face, as much as my before pic embarrasses me it just shows how much my weight gain aged me... http://pic-collage.com/_rlycISx7 Your going to do awesome and please post pics so we can share in your success Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Spectra13, Thank you so much!! Unfortunately due to my episodes of Gout that I had for about 4.5 months post op I wasn't able to exercise too much, however over the last 6 weeks I have been able to step it up more and I have not had a flare up... Woo hoo!! ???? I've always been pretty good with my food choices but at 5 months post op I went on vacation to New Orleans (for the first time) and I indulged in there many tasty dishes but thanks to the sleeve it was only a couple of spoonfuls and I was full. First time I ever went on vacation and came home to a weight loss lol You must be excited, the 19th is just around the corner? I was also scared and nervous, it's to be expected but once you get in the flow of things you will love it. I regret not having many before pictures, I would suggest to take some so you have comparisons... It will blow your mind when you see the difference???????? Before children I was between 160-170#, I actually weighed in this morning and I am 175.3# so I'm close but I was severely overweight for at least 12 years or more. I'm officially down 98.7 # ???????? Good luck to you on your journey and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!!! You're gonna do great????????????

    Any So Cal Sleevers?

@@shelliluv, Thanks, you are way to kind!! I have heard good things about Dr Cuneen, sounds like your in great hands and Cedar Sinai is a excellent hospital As far as any words of wisdom... I would recommend finding or having a good support system, that has helped tremendously! Also do not be discouraged when you have your stalls, stay on track and the weight will eventually drop. Also drink lots of Water, exercise, take your Vitamins and eat your Protein. In the beginning its difficult but try to be diligent. Most importantly... Enjoy this journey and your transformation! I look back at where I started and as much as the physical transformation is great, the mental transformation is beyond words. I'm truly happy and feel very blessed and I hope it will be the same for you Good luck to you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any So Cal Sleevers?

@@shelliluv, it is going great My health is much better and I am now comfortable in my own skin, I no longer hide from mirrors and camera's to avoid seeing my own reflection lol Post-op I would browse this site for tips and encouragement and now it's exciting to know I can offer that to someone else!! Where are you having surgery and who's your surgeon? My weight loss seems to have slowed down a lil but I figured it would as I get closer to goal. http://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=64724 I have attached a link to my before and after pics. Any So Cal Sleevers?

@@shelliluv, I am in So Cal OC to be exact and had my surgery on 2/29/16 @ Kaiser Harbor City with Dr. Zane. TBH, the first week was rough but I was having a hard time keeping anything down and I also have Gout which was aggravated by the rapid weightloss but on day 10, I found my stride and every day things got a lil better???? The surgery itself was pretty easy and there was some discomfort at the larger incision sites but very tolerable! Anyway so far I'm down 95 pounds and am 15-20 pounds away from goal... This has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and I'm so thankful for this tool!!! Good luck with your journey, you must be very excited???????? Let me know if you have any questions.

    6 Months Surgiversary !

Congrats, you look awesome I can totally identify with how weight gain can change your facial features. At 274 # I had a double, no make that triple chins with full hanging cheeks and my eyes were just slits, I avoided pictures like the plague. I feel and have been told I look a lot younger with my weight loss but I'm still a work in progress. Thanks for sharing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congrats to both of you on your new journey!!! I was sleeved on 2/29/16 and I too struggled and continue to struggle with the dreaded stalls but honestly if your doing the right thing, it will eventually catch up on the scale, My tip: Weigh no more then once a week. I feel like I was a slow loser but so far I'm 95 pounds down and I couldn't be happier, thank God for this tool Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@Dub. Your absolutely right, Wls has totally given me a new lease on life... My hubby begged me for years to ride a motorcycle with him but I always let my weight stop me, well guess who's a "Motorcycle Chick" now hahaha. I'm riding with him and we love doing it together and I'm very thankful for my sleeve. I truly feel like I'm at least 10 years younger too, I'll be 47 next month and don't feel a day over 35 lol so they're are plenty of positives!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
