Okay I had my surgery on 8/17, got my first fill on 9/15 2cc and ever since then every type of meat I eat except for fish gets stuck! Most of the time I suffer for at least 30 minutes until it goes down but these past couple of days I have had to get it back up (sorry don't know the right term for this). I don't know what to do as I have gone back to mushie stuff because I'm afraid to eat. Anyone else experience this and what would you recommend I do? Thanks guys you are the best.

Thanks Kathy, I will try that, I know I have to slow down when I eat as I have always been a really fast eater and chew chew chew, which I think I am, it seems like when it gets stuck I have to think if I didn't chew it enough. But I definately will go back to liquids since I have no problems with that and see how it goes, I am supposed to go back to the dr on the 21st so I will see how it goes for one more week. Thanks again.

Hey Sheila, Dr. Marsden is really good, he did my husbands A-V shunt a couple of years ago so when I saw him in the paper advertising this surgery, I knew that he was the one to do it. Since he deals with very tiny veins and artery's I knew he would be great at this. My only regret is that I don't feel like I have gotten a lot of information about what to do and expect. I am calling Debbie his nurse today about a nutrionist. Did they talk about that with you? Everyone on this list has one and I have no idea what I should or should not be eating so you guessed it, I am eating everything that I can and not losing a pound! There is a support group from the Surgery Center lead by Patty (he talks about her all the time) and she is trying to get a website set up so we can all talk but it hasn't happened yet. Good luck to you and I was starving on the pre-op also but lost 8 pounds, drink your water as it helps. Here's my email address if you want to talk off line. dmdr125@aol.com

Hi all, I got banded on 8/17 and the first 2 weeks all I ate was Soup and soft stuff then when I found out I could try anything, I did and now I am not losing anything. I did the pre-op diet and have totally lost 15 pounds since 8/1 but shouldn't I be losing more? I am going for my first fill on 9/15 and hope that will be the ticket to get me started. My main concern is what should I be eating? I am the type of person who needs to know how much, what and when and I am not getting that from my doctors office. A lady I met at our first support group told me about this site and I am so greatful to her. I need support and help to make this work and will take any advice from you wonderful folks who are doing this and losing. Dawn from Texas banded 8/17/05

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
scrapqueen replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kathy, That is how my doctor was and not I am eating everything and not losing so I am wondering if I need to go back on the mushy stuff or try to find some plan to follow. I love the food list, I printed it out and will use it as my guidelines. I am calling my dr on Monday to find out if I am supposed to meet with a dietatian since it seems everyone else on the list has one! My insurance did not pay so I had to pay cash so I would think I should get the same treatment as someone whose insurance paid. I just want to start losing weight that was why I did this. I will get my first fill on Thursday so I am hoping that will help me also not eat as much, but I want to be able to know what I can and shouldn't eat. Good luck to you. Hey Margo (my band twin) No, my doctor didn't get me set up with a dietian. I am going to call him on Monday. They gave me a list to follow but I was hungry and not eating alot on it either, I was getting about 500-700 calories a day! My stomach was growling all the time and I was really tired. So when I heard I could eat anything that I could, I am. Wonder if I should go back to mushie stuff and stay there for a week or two and see what happens. No one has explained to me about the Protein amount either. Yikes, I will have lots of questions on Monday, it's one thing to do the surgery as he is a great surgeon but to not give the patient all the important facts... Thanks, I will check out the food threads and see what I can do. Good luck to you. Dawn

That was my big problem with my insurance company also. I got financing through Capital One medical, my dr's office gave me their number. I was able to get the full amount and have monthly payments. My loan is for 60 months so my payments aren't too bad. I think of it as a loan for my health, something I needed to do badly. I can get you their number if you want it, you apply over the phone and know if you are approved right away. Dawn D Banded 8/17/05 Dr. Marsden
