    May Sleevers, How much?

Sleeved 5/21. Weight at surgery was about 277. Today at Dr appt weighed 224.4! Feel terrific!
  4. I also had problems with the protein drinks, running to the bathroom too many times. NUT suggested a brand that was lactose free, but that did not help. The surgeon said probiotics may or may not help me, so I got some, and they did not help initially. At my surgeon's urging, went to getting my protein quota in real food which finally did the trick. I counted all the proteins religiously. I can now use Premier protein once a day with no problems.
  5. I am 65 and was sleeved 5/21. I recovered quickly and had no complications; no nausea, vomiting, food stuck, etc. At my 6 week follow up I had lost 39 lbs since surgery date, weighing in at 241. I will weigh in on 8/5 next. I am off all but 3 medications (was on 9) have normal bp and bg. I am thrilled to be feeling this good in my retirement! I love the gym and the new friends I am making there. Daytime hours there are many seniors working out. I plan to have fun for a long time to come.

    Feeling blue:(

I don't know if this could help. I have a good friend who I have had lunches and dinners with for years. She is thin. When we are out, usually with our husbands, I have observed that she just orders what she wants, not a whole meal or a special. Sometimes it is just soup, or broccoli and some well broiled fish, no butter. When she orders salad it is without croutons and the dressing, used sparingly, on the side. She never orders a dessert but may have a bite or two from the one her husband has. I am trying to eat the same way when we are out since my surgery on 5/21. BTW she has never had a weight problem. I think thin people just do things differently from what I did.
  8. I was sleeved May 21st and just spent the weekend packing up about 12 bags of clothes and took them to a local charity. 30 blazers/jackets went to Dress for Success who always need plus sized professional wear for women going into the workforce. A charity run thrift shop benefits local Red Cross, Salvation army and others. Someone else can use what I cannot wear anymore. No regrets. Oh, After I exhaust the other smaller sizes in my closet (the 22s, 20s - yes some of us have wardrobes in many sizes) I plan to shop thrift and consignment shops as well as Old Navy and Ross!

    Anniversary Trip

The people in my support group say to order 1 meal and split it. When we go out, ordering seperate meals, I just get some broiled fish or crab, skip the sides, and enjoy what I can.

    Overnight Bag

Slippers and a pair of shorts to wear under your gown. You will be up walking the halls with an IV attached. Toothbrush is good to have.

    Eating plan help!

I googled menu plans and found some good ones. Tried several different search terms like "bariatric menu plan" and "high protein menu" and post-surgery bariatric meals"
  12. Sleeved 5/21. Eat about 700 calories and a minimum of 55 or 60 g protein. Trying to get all my protein from food because the protein drinks go right through me and the diarrhea is awful. So I use Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese and beans. There is a new protein vegetable steamer I plan to try today. I use Myfitnesspal to track. Down about 30 pounds in 5 weeks.
  13. Sleeved on 5/21. Down about 30 pounds, too. Feel great, clothes getting too big.
  14. About the surgery. Case manager has been in touch a few times and was very supportive, and insurance has a free membership to participating gyms that I use.
  15. Very similar to what I had to do. It was great, though. Met with the dietician 3x, social worker, cardiologist, and surgeon and frlt a lot better
