    Week 7 GAINING!

Also, it's not just about the scale. Your body is losing in other ways. My scale doesn't move an the time, but pants don't fit, face is skinnier, boobs deflating. Don't worry and do what you need to do, your body will adjust.
  4. Doing great here! Sleeved July 2nd. Started at 256, day of surgery 238, today..... 198! No complications and I'm loving it! How about you?
  5. Surgery July 2nd. 56 lbs overall, 38lbs since surgery.

    Onederland and a wedding

That's awesome!!! It's so inspiring to hear what you said. I hope I will be like that. I'm only 2 months out and feel like I have said no easily. I know it will be different when I am able to eat more, but I'm glad to hear it was easy for you. So happy for you!
  7. I was sleeved July 2nd. Total of 56 lbs down, 38 since surgery. Feeling great. I can eat a variety, not yet a whole chicken breast, can eat sometimes 2 eggs at a setting. No complications! Best decision ever!

    Finally a surgery date

    Good luck!!!
  9. I had my surgery July 2 nd. I have lost 50 lbs so far But I am still only able to eat 1-2 oz of food. But have gone out to eat, are smart and took home leftovers. I worried a little too about what I would be able to eat, if I was going to enjoy it. It's not really on my mind since surgery. What's on my mind is I feel great, I know I'm healthier, and I made a great decision. You need to do what's best for you for the right decisions. You can do it if you really want to and put your mind to it.
  10. So your Dr. Wants you to be max 40g of carbs per day? Yea, see I can eat fruit and veggies. I try to limit my carbs to 40g per day, because I know my body likes to hold onto carbs. Honestly though this goes against what the NUT at my surgeons office suggests, which is a MINIMUM of 60g per day. That just seems way too high. So I decided to try an experiment and "split the baby" by only counting Net Carbs instead of total carbs like I was counting. So this means that I am getting overall more carbs but I am limiting my Net Carbs to 40 or less per day. Hopefully, this works, if not I will go back to counting my total carbs.Good luck. I go to office on Tuesday and hope to be able to eat veggies. But I'm not sure if I will be able to. Still can only eat about 2oz and have to have protein first.
  11. Just what I have gone thru on my short journey. I have had acid reflux for years. I wanted the sleeve and only the sleeve. The surgeon recommended the sleeve hands down. Never mentioned any issues with reflux. Only that it can be due to eating too fast and not allowing for to go into stomach before more food met it. I was on some acid meds different than ones I was on prior to surgery. I haven't taken it for weeks and haven't yet had any acid reflux. Just be comfortable with your surgeon and the office. Know about each option, as one is better for some and not others. Good luck!

    Cholesterol

No gallbladder anymore. That surgery was 20 years ago. Good luck!! I hope it helps you as well !

    Cholesterol

I have given blood for over 15 years. Even when I was below 200 lbs, my cholesterol was terrible. It was highest last summer at 270. In March, it was 234. I gave blood on the 3rd, which was a month after surgery (as long as your cleared it was fine to donate) I was able to give a double donation with the ALYX machine, it takes rbcs and gives you back your platelets and wbcs, along with fluids. I hardly have a high enough hemoglobin to do the machine but this time it was at a great level. I checked my cholesterol a couple days after my donation and it was 181! It has never been below 200 in over 15 years! I consider the surgery a success even in one month and if I stay at this weight. I plan and hope to lose much more but to not worry about having heart issues knocking on my door every minute is a reason I wanted this. To be healthier!!
  15. MarceMonster, my carb limit is between 30-40. That would be hard for me now. I'm only supposed to be eating protein, no veggies or fruit. Do a milk/ instant breakfast protein drink that is about 14 carbs.

    24 hour post op misery

It gets better!! Day of surgery I was like "I'm so excited!" Next 2 days after, I want so excited anymore. It hurt. But after a few more days, it wasn't bad at all. Everyone is right about walking, don't stay in bed! Praying you feel better!
  17. I'm 6 weeks out and see surgeon in a week. I am not allowed anything but protein. No veggies or fruits. Only unsweetened applesauce if i need a carb boost. I don't have a calorie goal from Dr only carb and protein. At 3 weeks I was at soft foods. I am still only able to eat 2 oz max.I know every Dr is different. Would definitely talk to your NUT.
  18. I went to Golden Corral this weekend with a large group. The all got the buffet and I got the to go. They weighed my food at less than a pound and I ate with my friends from it with a few more meals to go!
  19. Publix, Winn Dixie and Walmart have Fairlife.

Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

My surgeon if a big low carb believer. He explained a scenario of a slice of cake for 1200 calories vs a steak dinner with veggies at 1200 calories. You would lose weight on the steak not cake. Due to carbs. Makes total sense to me. I do agree we need carbs, but 60 sounds like a ton to me.
  21. For added protein I do Fairlife milk 2% with sugar free carnation instant breakfast for 18 grams of protein and about 14 carbs. That is alot of carbs for me, being used to Adkins. But for only eating protein, it helps me ensure I don't get low blood sugar. Added benefit is it tastes like chocolate milk!

    Why?!

Why did I not look into Fairlife milk before this?! I wish I would have seen this before I bought protein shake mix! I have never seen it before, and went to Public and find it! Thank you all for posting about it. Note I can have it with sugar free chocolate syrup, and have chocolate milk again!
  23. I actually had a pcp that I tried several times to approach about the surgery. Every time I tried he would say we all have issues and would end the appt. This among other things were a reason why I left his practice. Went to my new pcp, and on first appt, told him I needed a referral, and got one. It all depends on the Dr unfortunately. I did have high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and fatty liver.

    Sugar Addiction

I was sleeved July 2nd. I used to be a sweets eater, loved me some cookies and chocolate. Since the surgery, I have not craved the sweets. My craving as crazy as it sounds is chicken wings lol. I have had some no sugar added ice cream. But 2 -3 spoonfuls and I'm fine. I think to use the time of pre op and post op as a retraining of your brain is so important. I am still early on in my journey, but that time has allowed me to realize food doesn't control me, I control it. Good luck to you.

    5 days post op

I'm 5 days out. I drink water, crystal light, broth. I am also doing sf jello and sf popsicles. I am only adding protein to my broth once a day , probably should be more. I get about 30 protein. Can't take my vitamins I got. I throw them up. Going to try Flintstones.
