I have PCOS and had my VSG Sept. 2015, we were blessed to get pregnant in April 2016. Not a full year out but I had lost over 100 lbs and both baby and I are healthy. He is set to arrive Jan 18. Very soon. The only obstacle that I've had is trying to eat enough. I only gained 24 lbs and am being monitored with labs and all that jazz. So it's very possible and you now have the best chance. Good luck!!

Hi does anyone take metformin for PCOS after surgery? I stopped taking it for the last 4 months after surgery but I'm wondering if I should start it back again. -

Cindyw41- I still have symptoms of PCOS. But you're right I should still talk to my doctor. But which Doctor, Gastric Sleeve or OBGYN? -
Jennolsen , That's great. So far in down 71 lbs since starting the pre op diet and 42 since surgery. I've been going to the gym also. I over did it one day but I got in a groove now. Yes I haven't had any stress yet so I'm not sure how to handle it either. I'm also dealing with the holidays. I'm so used to eating all the comforting things when now I'll be lucky to have a peice of turkey. But it's all about finding a new us. New ways to live and be healthy. We will see how it goes.

Hey Jennolsen , I'm doing well. How are you? How is the weight loss? So far things are going well. I still have to figure out what works and what doesn't. Losing weight slowly but surely. I never heard back from Jewels. ???? I hope she is ok. Nice to hear from you.

I'm sure your surgeon is good too. Everything is good with me. I'm on stage 3 of my diet and have my 6 week visit Monday then I get fully cleared for regular foods. The first 3 weeks I lost 15 lbs the I stalled for 2 weeks now I'm moving again. So far post op I've lost 28 lbs and since the beginning of my journey I've lost 57lbs. Best decision of my life. -
Anyone with Fremont Calif Kaiser Permanente?
casper_808 replied to heidikate's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Heidikate, No Protein shake diet. However DR. Hahn did have me take Magnesium Citrate the night before to clear things out. Very nasty and the nurse called the gift that keeps giving. I had my surgery on 9/14/15. Who is your DR? -
Anyone with Fremont Calif Kaiser Permanente?
casper_808 replied to heidikate's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Heidikate, I had my orientation first, they weighed me in , then they scheduled me for the dietician and the surgeon ( Dr. Hahn- he is awesome ). At that appointment he gave me a goal weight and said when I come within 5 lbs of that to call in and they would schedule me for my psychiatric appointment. Following the diet in the binder they gave me I lost the weight within a month and completed the psyc. And then had to wait for the last 5 lbs to come off before they would schedule me for the surgery . Then I had to do an ekg. All together it took two months from start to finish. My friend went to Kaiser SSF and got it done with within a month and half. She didn't need to loose weight but had to attend a lot of classes. Did the DR say you had to loose weight? Did you get the binder? Good luck to you ! -

Heidikate, It was very easy. A balanced diet. Examples: Breakfast- 3 oz cottage cheese or 2 eggs scrambled or boiled. 1/2 piece of toast. 1 tsp fat( butter, Peanut Butter, fat free cream cheese) & a serving of fruit. -

I went through Kaiser Fremont. Once and if they give you a pre op Goal weight the You start the diet plan. I would start it now since that is the healthiest way to eat moving forward. And it helps prepare you for surgery I was sleeved in 9-14. -
I was sleeved on 9/14 and the Surgeon wouldn't discharge me until I received it.

Jennolsen, How are you? Jewels, How are you? I hope both of you are well. Got into the routine of a hectic work schedule. I've stalled weight wise. It nice a lb in the last day but hopefully it will stay dry losing fast. Getting worries. How did your 3 Rd week go?

Atontor, Did you have any weight loss stalls? I'm 3 weeks post op and in my first 2 weeks I lost 18 lbs but this last week I stalled and haven't lost anything. I'm worried. My doc said I should work out until 6 weeks and I am following all the guidelines. Any advice? -

I can't wait to be able to have children!! God willing... -
Mzfreda2u, Can you have Gatorade or water with electrolytes? That might help. I'm sorry you have those complications. My doctor said not to exercise until 6 weeks out, but every doctor is different.
-
I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you contacted the doctors office to ask for advice? I hope you recover soon. Take it easy. I'm having difficulty eating solid foods. Liquids go down so much easier. But I'm trying to take it slowly.
-
Jennolsen, Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that how you are feeling better. Is there any way you can cut the pill on half or take multiple smaller doses ? That's sucks that you felt bad all day long. I agree about the dehydration. Water is so important. Yes side affects of weight loss and no hunger is what is keeping us going right. I wonder how Jewels is doing? Well feel better and dink lots of water and try to get your protein in. ????

Jennolsen, I'm doing great. Today was my 2 week check In. I got cleared for soft foods. And then my next appointment is at the end of Oct. to clear me fully. When I had eaten retried Beans or mashed potatoes I found that I could eat as much as say broth or cottage cheese. I also had that pressure in my chest. The surgeon emphasized the importance of getting my 60 grams of Protein in. I actually had a little nausea today but it didn't last but 5 minutes but still yucky feeling. I've lost 18 lbs so far and am excited for the future.
-
Super happy that tomorrow is my follow up appointment with the surgeon. I'm hoping that I will be able to move on to soft foods and to get this tape off of my incisions. Jennolsen how are you doing? Jewels how are you doing, how was your appointment?
-
That's the only thing I could think it would be. The acid could put off a foul smell. ???? Sorry you're experiencing this.
-
Maybe it's the acid in your stomach. Are you taking antacid?

Through all our bad days and good days we have to keep remembering our reason for this transformation. For a new life, another chance to get it right. A healthier you. A chance to have children. With these thoughts they will get us through our darkest and hardest moments. Together we can encourage and relate to each other. I can't wait until the day when we look back to say wow. All of this right now was worth every minute of it. Every hard hour, every hospital trip and doctors visit. It was all with it. We are new again.
