Looking for someone to connect with after surgery
Tobeornottobe replied to jlvolkma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had surgery on 12/9. My doc informed me today he found a hiatal hernia and repaired it during surgery as well. I am able to get all my liquids in, thank goodness. I have my first follow up on the 16th. I hope to move on into another phase food wise. I can't wait until Monday to remove the On-Q. It truly the most annoying thing. So awkward. -

I was sleeved on Wednesday and got cleared to go home today. I don't have antibiotics for when I go home but I was given antibiotics two days in a row through the IV. Maybe call the doctors office again. -
This is it, I will be sleeved tomorrow. To everyone else who is having surgery tomorrow, I'm sending healing and positive vibes your way. See you on the other side. Off to meditate and get some sleep.

Nickyamall, it's great your recovery is going so well. Like you, I am very active. My hubster kept telling me I would recover well since I exercise daily and he was right. Not much pain, getting fluids in is not a problem. I so grateful for the recovery. -

Looking for someone to connect with after surgery

Everyone has a fatty liver, the pre-op diet differences is doctor's choice. There is no one governing thinking as to whether or not to do 2 weeks, 2 week, 1 day or nothing after midnight. -
Looking for someone to connect with after surgery
Tobeornottobe replied to jlvolkma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The waiting period depends on the insurance plan you have and what your employer stipulates. For instance, the insurance through my hubby's company has a 3 month requirement, my company has a 6 month requirement. First thing I would find out from whatever insurance plan you have is do they cover bariatric surgery? If so, what are the requirements? Get the requirements in writing, have it mailed, emailed or printed off their website. Then start getting those requirements in. You'd be surprised as to how quickly time goes by. HTH -

OPTIONS TO PAY---CONSIDERING SIGNA
Tobeornottobe replied to NEWHEALTHYWHIT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Cigna plan we have is 3 months through my husband's employer. However, I know other people who have CIgna that have to wait 6 months - this is actually dictated by the employer. Plans vary widely as to deductibles and out of pocket cost in addition to the premiums so it depends on what's offered if through an employer. If you are planning on paying for your heath insurance out of pocket, the information would be in the health insurance website or via the health insurance exchanges. -

Insurance in Texas !
Tobeornottobe replied to amandap120312's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work in health insurance. I can assure you it's offered as an option and it's up to the employer as to whether or not they choose to carry the option. There are other people in Texas who are having bariatric surgery and it's covered through plans provided by their employers. If the health insurance is through an exchange it may be a different story. -
