  1. Happy 35th Birthday alicialynn00!

  2. I am in desperate need of an experienced lap band mentor. I was banded in 2007. I lost a little bit of weight at the beginning. I am not even sure how I did it. I had absolutely NO nutrition education from my surgeon, so it's like I am totally new to this. I don't even know if it will still work for me, really, since it has been so long now. I think in the beginning, I wasn't really ready for a change, so I didn't do all the things I need to to lose weight. But now, I am wanting to pick it back up and make this thing work for me, if it still can. Please help. I need an experienced person to sort of guide me through this. Thank you so much in advance.
  3. had a great time visiting with you tonight...I am thinking of you and wishing you lots of luck in the next few months to come...

Anyone had 1st fill with "Realize" band?

I am so sick and frustrated with this thing. I have had 5 fills with this thing and I can still eat big portions. The last fill I had (6-5-08) I was sliming when I had water in the office. The doc took out half of what he put in that day and I felt much better. This is all fine and dandy, but now I can eat huge portions and not get stuck. Even though he did leave in a half of a fill. I have only lost 30 pounds sicne DECEMBER, I am getting to the point where I think this just isnt going to work for me........ Any suggestions, similar stories....anything??? Please help

    The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)

The polar strap that you have to wear around your chest......is this tight and uncomfortable? I had to wear one during a sleep study and I couldn't imagine wearing one all the time...... I really want one of these things, but this is my only issue with it. Please post on how comfortable it is to wear all day. Also, does it just keep registering your calorie burn at all times? I am a teacher, so I'm sure I rack up the cals. during the day. Thanks!

    Did anyone else feel unhappy?

I went through this after my surgery as well. I wanted to eat everything and was worried that I had made a mistake in having the procedure. I am about 4 months out now, and I am doing much much better. You will get to eat again, not to worry too much. Sounds like you are going through some emotional problems as well, so this will complicate the urge to eat. This emotional stress may trigger "head hunger" and make you feel like you want everything. My advice is to try to divert your attention any way that you can. Take a little walk if you feel like you want to eat the doors off the house. That helped me a lot. :tongue_smilie: It will get better, please dont stress yourself too much about it. You need time to heal and to get past the emotional strain that you are currently in. I hope this helps.
  7. have you gotten the surgery

    First Fill-NOT feeling it

At this point, I wish I had gotten the bypass. I have had one fill, nothing. I can eat anything and everything. There is absolutely no difference since before the surgery. I feel like this is never gonna work for me, another weight loss failure....I have already called to make another appointment to get another fill.....so we will see what happens there... It seems like everyone on this site has lost so much in between the surg and first fill. I feel like I am just never gonna see all this nasty fat off of my body. This is the most frustrating process ever! I asked the doc how much i should be eating at a sitting and he said, eat till u are full.....no real help there, I could eat thanksgiving dinner. I try to eat the way i am supposed to, but after work i am so weak from hunger that i end up snacking all night long....once i start i can hardly stop, and no restriction does not help.....i know it will be work from me too but i didnt get this thing to do it all on my own..... im just praying now that this thing will actually work for me. im so sick of this waiting thing.......any advice/help/words of wisdom out there????:thumbup::thumbup::frown::thumbup::thumbup::party::thumbup:

    New forum

Hey guys, I am 30 and from Louisville, KY. I was banded on 12-11-07. I have lost about 17 lbs so far and am looking forward to my first fill this Thursday! I am so excited to have this band! I worked on the insurance approval for about a year. I am looking forward to having the support of this message bord behind me as I slim down, for good! I am hoping that this summer I will be able to go to the pool instead of wishing I could and doing things I havent done in ages due to my weight. Great to be on here with you guys!! Alicia:tongue:

    Food + Liquid Question

Alright guys and gals, got a question for ya....I am on mushies and I have been eating and drinking together, as I am not filled at all yet.....the question is, should I be doing this? I know that after I get adjusted, I will need to wait before and after meals to take in liquid. Does that matter now too, in the healing phase, before you have any liquid in the band? I know it would be good practice to go ahead and do it this way, but is it necessary? :help:

    Mushie Stage

Wow guys, thanks for all the responses! I am gonna try the cheese omlete as it sounds wonderful! Also, I hadnt thought about just blending up anything with a sauce in it, i am gonna try some chunky Soups in the blender, they may look hideous but taste the same, maybe i will close my eyes as i eat. lol Lumpy, please dont worry already about getting to your goal weight....with patience you will get there! The scales are not kind to me, I find if i get on them daily I start to worry more. Maybe weigh yourself once a week at the same time, like Sunday morning...something like that. This way, you will get a better read. You sound like you are doing great with eating and the no cal. drinks, you will get there!

    Mushie Stage

I am soooo happy to be on mushies! Two weeks never seemed so long as those that I was forced to do liquids on! Just wanted to post some good mushie stage stuff....if you havent tried them, the Jello Cheesecake cups are AWESOME, I cant stop singing their praises! Also, I got the best thing for christmas for mushies, the Magic Bullet blender.....if you dont have one then you neeeed one of these little beauties for mushie stuff.. I smashed up some potato salad and cloeslaw tonight for lunch tomorrow, surprisingly good. This little thing is perfect for making protein/frozen yogurt smoothies as well. So, it would be great for the liquid stage too I suppose. Any more great mushie recipies out there? :cry Please post them, I dont want to feel as deprived at this stage as I was on liquids. Cheers

    Dec. 07 Exercise plan

wow Destiny, that is a great plan! I'm so happy for you, I bet it is easier to exercise with some weight off. I cant wait to get there. Even with a small loss so far, i can feel that i have more energy and its easier to move around the house. I am planning to do Water aerobics at the local Y once I am about a month out. I also want to start yoga or pilates once I get some substantial weight off. Hope all goes well for you! Keep on keepin on!
