I did,and I am so sad. I started this process in March 2015, I had originally hoped to be surgically completed and back to work before I was supposed to go back from an injury I had at work. That plan didn't work out despite not getting back to work before August.( Thanks Atena you suck) So plan B was have procedure in February.2016. For a lot of reasons now that won't work. I am about a 42 bmi now...So a 10 lb weight loss knocks me out of the 40 BMI range to qualify for the procedure. My next plausible window for the procedure is Dec 2016 I can't live in this body that long without going nuts. So,I am going to have to switch to the medical weight loss program. I cried when I told the NUT today. And I am crying writing this. Best of luck to you all. Thanks for all the support.

I gave up today
Michelle Tarver replied to Michelle Tarver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any comorbididities. Which is good...And bad... That would help me qualify with a lower BMI..But it will not change my window of opportunity for Dec 2016. -

I. I work retail at costco. I have vacation time. However I don't have enough to recover enough to do my job that includes lifting 50lb boxes. Dr said 8_12 weeks. Hence the need for careful planning and making sure I get maximum shot term disability pay,and an approved FMLA. Insurance is not the problem. -

Atena and it's every changing policy is what delayed it in the 1still place, yes and the stupid.40 BMI on surgery day rule is what if I let it keep me stuck fat until I have a good surgery window. I am pretty sure..thought it is Aetna and I would not put it past them to throw up another road block..that the insurance side is not my most pressing issue That is my window.of maximum opportunity to have the surgery done and health is so far away. I could.I suppose do the medical.weight loss till next fall and still go to Mexico for WLS. But if I do it in the US I have zero out of pocket..I have CHAMPVA as a.2nd insurance. I.was hoping to save Mexico for the plastic surgery.post weightozs -

It's basically work. I have had 4 work place injuries 4 years running. I have missed at least 6_8 weeks minimum on each occasion. February was when I would be able to get my full short term disability pay..but I still don't qualify for FMLA ,or a company permitted medical leave...the last one is to soon...it will be June or July before I do qualify, and it is to busy at work ..And would make me look bad to schedule an elective surgery then...After Christmas 2016 is even a little pushy..but I would want to make the most of my insurance deductibles having been met. Will Anthem BCBS deny surgery for significant weight loss during the 6 Mon diet?
Michelle Tarver replied to PreOpSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a good question for your insurance, and your surgons office. My insurance wants my BMI to be 40 on surgery day. I'm 5'7" and 266 right now. -
I am meeting most of the goals finding a protein shake/powder I like. Eating slower,ect.. I still have to work on switching to Decaf coffee and food logging. I am not planning on having surgery until Dec at the absolute earliest if not Feb or March... Which is good because today the NUT informed me they just learned my insurance has a requirement that I meet with her for 3 consecutive months. Duh.. I had an appointment for late August they called me and rescheduled. Isn't it their job to keep that stuff in mind? I have been seeing the NUT since June so if I was in a hurry this would have/should have been my last appointment But I am now at square one. Not sure which I want to work on..food logging..cause that will make me lose weight and I am in the category that I can not or my BMI is to low to quality. Or do I give up my caffinae coffee that I love? Decisions decisions..

How long did you wait to return to work?
Michelle Tarver replied to Gemini0621's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I envy all you desk people.. I work for a great company, but do heavy lifting ..50 lb boxes...so I may be out up to 8 weeks or more. I have to be able to lift with no pain before I can go back. I have short term disability so the $$ is not a problem, but its a small department and me being out is an inconvenience for them. -

Sleep study
Michelle Tarver replied to hilaryglynxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I often wonder about the mouth guard. I can't get use to the cpap. I used it in the past and went about 8 years not using it and now trying it again since my surgeon requires the use at the hospital. I wear it about 4 hrs a night and then rip it off lol It is very much working for my husband. Look and see if your insurance will cover the mouth guard. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk -

I do not have apena but my husband does. He had no success with a CPAP but the VA got him a mouth guard that slightly pulls his jaw forward and opens the airway. This works like a charm for him. I can tell by looking at him if he did not use it the night before.. Well I can usually tell that night because the snoring/gasping wakes me up.. -

Keeping WLS a secret.
Michelle Tarver replied to Dd12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had it yet. I have told my hubby,my kids 21,14 and 12. a dear dear friend who all will be helping mee in the process in one way or another. I worry about telling my mom....so I told my sister in law..She was supportive....and I know it will get to my brother, who will tell my mom. She will blow up on him and be calmer when she finaly comes to me to talk about it. Weird I know but at 42 years old my siblings ( I am the oldest of 3) have found ways to help each other manage my mom..and the telephone game is one. Shrug. As for work... I will be telling the HR person "abdominal surgery" and when the weigth loss is evident I will tell any one who ask directly if it was surgery the truth..yes it is..along with diet modificationa and exersize... -

Disclaimer I do work at costco. But I make no money on your purchase. I have started my WLS journey while I was out of work for a head injury. So the 1st thing I did when I got back was check on the Protein shakes. I knew they carried the premier vanilla. Well now they have strawberry chocolate and vanilla http://m.costco.com/Premier-Protein®-Vanilla-Shakes-18-11oz-Shakes.product.100101311.html 18 to a case of the 11 oz shakes. Is $19.99 Non members can order on line also. -

Pinkgirl...I actually enjoy the Vanila and chocolate.. If they are ICE cold. I have not had the strawberry yet. I have had the HMR stuff in the past and its OK, slimfast was gross shakeology from beachbody was wretched for comparison. If you don't like it you can return it to any Costo for a full refund.
