You can definitely do it! I'm new to the boards and only 7 weeks out so I'm not sure I'm your best option but I'm happy to talk and encourage if I want

    I'm hungry!

That's really awesome! I am not far out but I certainly understand the concept. Before surgery I could loose weight only by eating more often. Eating 3 meals a day with 4 Oz pouch cannot allow to get enough protein. Just isn't possible. I definitely feel better when I eat small every 1-3 hours.

Losing pounds but do not feel a difference

I was 256 to start and 5'7.5" tall. It took 40 lbs before I saw a difference in the mirror. Pictures showed it earlier and measuring did too. There are so many who have hit goal and still don't see it. It's a process. Keep doing your daily best for your ability and you'll get there!

    My first pureed meal!

Yes, eating too fast can do that. Also make sure you aren't drinking while eating or 10min before (minimum). -note everyone is different. But liquid in your stomach can cause quicker backup of food Doing great!
  5. Goodwill and thrift stores are my best friend as I loose. This way I'll save money to buy a wardrobe at goal. Much if it is close to brand new. No one knows where I shop
  6. I personally can Not have carbonation at all. Really upsets my stomach. Even uf i ket the drink go flat. I'm 7 weeks post op. Also too much sugar causes diarrhea for me Good luck!!

    I'm hungry!

Hunger occurs right behind your ribs where your stomach is. If it's pain near your belly button it is intestines moving around. Many many many times the two are confused. Just a thought to throw out there. If it is hunger you may try increasing Water and setting an alarm to eat throughout the day. Also, solid Proteins will last longer in your stomach and keep you full linger than liquid Protein. You may try string cheese, tuna, canned/moist chicken, etc and see if that helps Good luck!

    Spot still not healed

I have the same questions as judyoz. By now they should be healed though. Have you monitored your Protein levels? (helps speed recovery). Also, when is your first follow up appointment? Do you have a contact person or nurse from your surgeon you could contact? If it's painful, draining or discolored I would get it checked soon.
  9. Protein can be critical. It prevents your body from loosing muscle and it looses fat instead. Also, anemia and other complications can occur from not getting enough protein. Like the above posts say, stalls are totally normal. Everyone is different. It was suggested to me that at day 6 or 7 of a stall (early on after surgery) starting to log what you are eating and see if there is a diet reason for the stall. Also, either way you can go back to liquids and walk a little more to kick the body back into gear

    My first pureed meal!

That's awesome everyone. Very proud of the vomments,in portion watching and eating throughly. Great work! One thing to consider is the protein amount you achieve in a day. Everyone's Dr is a little different but your body needs around 50/60 proteins a day or you can more easily have other complications. Also, protein helps your body not break down muscle and helps prevent hair loss in many cases. Of course following your Dr recommended levels of food types is key since everyone is different, put trying to eat protein first and then other things can be really important

    50lbs gone!

So I hit the 50lbs loss mark today!! I'm thrilled at the number Stats: Feb 2015 - 256 Surgery May 12, 2015 -236 6 week post op (6/22/15) - 205 I document as much as possible so I can see numbers and pictures to compare progress. I measure my bust, waist, hips, arms and thighs. It's not about the numbers. I have trouble seeing the progress when I look in the mirror so those tactics help me keep focus and reality that it's really happening. I've had some great non number rewards already. Needing a belt for my normal pants that would slide right off, sitting in a movie theater with both arms down and having space, my seat belt doesn't lock up all the time, I don't hurt when I wake up anymore... these are the important successes! I have to admit that the numbers are more fun than I thought they would be. I haven't been this size since my senior year of high school in 2000. Thanks for letting me share my journey with you all and fir the great support I see on these boards! 50lbs to go!

    NSV shout outs

Sitting in one of my summer classes and it has the old style desks from high school where the desk is tiny and is attached to the chair. Before I squished into them. Now I can sit normal, even cross my legs and see my thighs easy. Totally roomy. It's awesome! ! Totally an nsv that I didn't expect!!

    50lbs gone!

Thank you so much everyone. My family said good job but only because it's the right thing to say. They didn't really care much. I think it's because they still view surgery as the easy way out and are all heavy. So also loosing this weight means I'm breaking a family norm and it's uncomfortable for them. I'm gragrateful to have you all and the support I truly need

    Apple torso and chicken legs!

Try keeping a measurement log of your hips and waist and busy I know for me I don't see the progress in those areas because I have the most to loose there but in reality I've lost 10 inches

    Serious question seeks serious answer!

I also wonder if stereotypes of large people as "lazy or depressed or others" come into play. Even subconsciously. I know that's not correct but humans tend to look for mates who can provide for families. .. men who can protect or women who look like they can bear children. It's not a theory I'd stake a ton on but research has shown such tendencies

    Serious question seeks serious answer!

As a BBW I am attracted to men with a little weight but not large men. For me personally it had to do with my self image (as stated in other responses) but in a different way. I didn't like myself fat and always wanted to be the person I feel like I am in my heart.... active and healthy. Being with a large man probably means that won't happen if he's happy with his weight and doesn't want to change it. I also want to do activities like sightseeing and museums, etc and it's hard with someone who may have trouble doing those things. Also, while sex isn't everything, my excess weight makes it challenging to fit together as it is with a lesser weight man....my ex husband gained a large stomach and sex was nearly not worth it because of the challenge. (We divorced for other reasons completely) Btw, we are adults and mature enough to answer this questions with reality Sex is important for some of us. The almost certainly of not having it is a turn off for me. Why start a relationship when the odds are against important parts of a relationship for me? Is it shallow? Some might think so. But I look at it like I finally know what I want in life and am looking out for my needs for once and that is Ok. Hope that helps. It is a sad situation that it happens though. Ps. My ex husband told me to gain weight because I was unattractive when I had lost some during my marriage so it goes both ways

    Tell me it's worth it...

MSWmike. Loosing the weight will shrink your liver which sits in the way of them removing your stomach so it is pretty important and seems to make recovery easier. I would also suggest starting to make habit changes like trying to not drink 15 min. Before or after meals (and during of course), eliminate carbonated drinks, start vitamin routine if you haven't. .. this will make the transition to what you will need to do after (not by choice but your body will have to) much easier. Also maybe try adding a walk everyday to build the habit. It will help with the weight loss too Good luck! You'll do great!!
