SW 256 VSG May 12, 2015: 236 CW: 185 Total : 70lbs Gone! I'm so grateful for this surgery. I never thought I would see below 200lbs. I always said if I reached 190 I'd be happy. Now, I find myself wanting to reach the surgeon's 150 goal. Clothes and self image are still an issue. I find myself still wanting to wear my 3x sweatshirts and baggie pants. I should easily be in 14's... maybe 12's. I just don't feel like I want to wear for fitting clothes. I wear my 16 jeans and think they fit fine... then I take a picture and realize they look super baggy. I'm having trouble with motivation as well recently. Granted there's a lot going on and a lot of stress right now so I'm hoping it passes and I can feel as good as I was feeling. I don't know what I need from this post specifically, just needed to write where I'm at and if you've been there or have encouraging words, maybe you can reply? Thanks

Like why is easy for others and so hard for me
onesleevedmamma replied to robertweisman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with above. Comparing with others can be useful but can also be harmful. They can be my exact height, start weight, etc and we loose differently. It may be different body workings, medical issues, activity rates, food choices or just the way the dice land. You are doing great! I would suggest using boards as inspiration to be the best YOU that you can be instead of comparing. Let those who are before or after you inspire you, because you too will reach your goals with perseverance and good health habits. (You have great progress already!!) -
70lbs! Need support
onesleevedmamma replied to onesleevedmamma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do get comments from people out in the world that are supportive and happy with me. It doesn't happen unless I'm in form fitting clothes (makes sense). I lost a lot in my face right off the bat so that made a huge difference for me personally. I could see those results easily. My face hasn't changed much since then. I would look in the mirror and say "wow, I look good" about it. But the rest of my body is harder for me to see. I'm sure the shopping trip will help. Pictures certainly do. Because of everyone's great support, reading other posts and looking at all of your stories and before/after pictures, I'm getting my motivation back. I plan on stepping it up this week and future weeks again so when that shopping trip comes I feel prouder of going (yes, I am proud of the 70lbs -just been slacking the past week and know I can do better 40 lbs is awesome! Thanks for your kind words and keep truckin with us! -

Thank you! My birthday is next month and my family is taking me shopping since all my clothes are 3xs still. (I borrowed some 16 pants but those are too big too) I just worry my mind won't catch up with the progress -

Thanks I'm 5'7" bmi charts say I should be 130-150. I'll be satisfied where I'm in less pain and active, we'll see where that lands number wise. I'm sure 160 or 150 will feel much better and at that point my Dr said he will do a back mri to see what's going on. Until then it's just pain management. As for clothes, do you ever not feel like wearing form fitting clothes? I feel like hiding in the morning and I wear my sweatchirts, then by afternoon I put on something lighter -
Definitely call. At your one on one appointment, write all your questions before hand and that way you'll be ready and won't get side tracked. It's a lot of information so easy to forget. Also, know their support groups and meetings you can attend. Talk to post op patients and see their path. Remember, every is different. .. but you'll have a general idea

Every surgeon is different but they should explain the path to surgery. It typically includes: introduction and information, blood tests/xrays/ etc. that are needed to make sure you are safe for surgery and send to insurance, nutritionist visits, insurance clearance, date setting, further tests (if needed), pre-op diet, surgery! Hope that helps

Hi! Start weight feb.2015 - 256 Surgery 5/12/15- 236 Current 7/23/15- 195 Total loss- 61 lbs So 61 lbs sounds like a lot of weight. It's 41 lbs @ 10 weeks post op. From other May sleevers, it seems on track with what others are loosing who started around my size. I've also lost 25inches combined in chesr, arms, hips, thighs. Tomorrow I go in for a check up tomorrow and for some reason feel like I'm going to let her down. Like I haven't lost enough. My head realizes it's bunk but my heart feels like I'm not loosing like I'm supposed to. Anyone else have trouble matching reality with emotions or thoughts?

Reality Check Please
onesleevedmamma replied to onesleevedmamma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is the problem I'm having. I don't feel I'm doing well enough and can't see the progress. No matter what old pics I look at or clothes I wear I see that its different but I don't SEE the difference in real time and I don't feel it either. VSG 6/15/15 WL 28 LBS So while I can't speak for your progress in the future, but you are doing great! It took 50lbs for me personally to see the difference in myself in pictures or mirror (and only my face in the mirror because it slimmed out first.) We all loose weight in other areas at different timea. Be kind to yourself during this journey. Numbers don't lie. Take pictures to compare side by side. Also, measuring bust, hips, thighs, arms can shoe a different type of number. My weight may stall but I loose inches. It's totally Normal. Hang in there! -

Thanks so much! The brain is fascinating and confusing at times. Glad to hear it's not just me... although I wish we all could have our brain and body match up Seems you are doing fantastic as well!! -
Reality Check Please
onesleevedmamma replied to onesleevedmamma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So my surgeon was very pleased with my progress. She urged not to compare numbers with other vsg patients because we are all so very different in our journey. I totally agree and simply use similar sleeve comparisons to see if I'm near on track or maybe need to contact her to see what I need to adjust. Thanks for the support -
Stuck Just Above Wonderland!
onesleevedmamma replied to MarceMonster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Even if you are doing everything perfect your body will go through stalls. I'd a lot of weight very quickly and it freaks out a bit. 2 weeks is a little long though. However, logging food, making sure you drink your Water and kicking up your exercise or walking. ... should break the stall . Also try noting any changes in habits in the last two weeks. Try to bring foods that are healthy and you enjoy the time camping. No one is perfect. You will hit wonderland! Keep your chin up and hang in there. Back to basics work! Good luck!!
