  3. Ok. Stats Start 256lbs Sw 236 (5/12/15) Cw 178 I've been in the hospital for 2 days npw. I am having severe sensitivity to light, stiff neck and pain, occasional vomiting, totally grumpy (3 days ago, now better mood). When I got here they thought sepsis but it was ruled out by blood work. Chest xray shows pneumonia for sure. (I didn't have a couch or any symptoms so it was a shock). Urine test showed UTI. Immediately started antibiotics for both they said it could kinda explain the extra symptoms so it was my choice whether to do a spinal tap for meningitis. Being that it's a life threatening disease and I have small children, I opted to do it. They poked 4 times then held me over night for radiology to use xray to find the spot. Results show low level meningitis. The CDC Dr was called. He's not sure what it is because the numbers are so low. So they stopped the antibiotics for it to "see" if it developes more. Kinda Guinea Pig me. I'm in quarantine. I have a final exam tomorrow (I'm studying for just in case I can go) Has anyone else had anything similar? Pneumonia? Meningitis is rare but maybe? Something else with similar symptoms? I haven't been able to eat, although I'm keeping hydrated. Pain us being managed but not getting better. Thanks everyone

    Pneumonia and Meningitis ***WORRIED***

Thank you! It's pretty odd to me as well. They are trying to get my heart rate above 60 but it keeps dropping. On a good note, grades were posted today and I got a 98% on the test I took in here and an overall 95%in the class. So I passed all 3 prerequisites with flying colors and as long as I get out by Thurs, I can walk in orientation with my head held high!

    Pneumonia and Meningitis ***WORRIED***

Well, there'should been no vacation. I'm still in the hospital. I took my final exam in here (she faxed it to my nurse) They still aren't 100% sure on anything except the pneumonia. They were going to release me but my pulse has been 36-40 all day so I'm being held for observation . I get an echocardiogram in the morning and we'll see... Thanks for the well wishes everybody

    Pneumonia and Meningitis ***WORRIED***

I love that philosophy! Do no harm, treat worst case scenario and then use all factors to figure out what's going on. And that's what they are doing. I personally just do better when I understand why things are happening. I understand why the process is going the way it is bit am worried we aren't nailing down a diagnosis yet. Time will tell. Test is over and a little more relaxed. I was supposed to take my children on vacation beforentals my masters program starts next Thursday and that's causing some bummed feelings. But health is more important and we can find something fun locally later maybe. Thank you! We do what we must. It was a must Thank you! It's going to be an Awesome year! For you too

    Pneumonia and Meningitis ***WORRIED***

Pneumonia has continued to be treated and symptoms are MUCH better! My 2 Dr's only agree that there is a viral brain infection. Dr. 1 says meningitis. Dr2 says encephalitis. I've had 2 mri's, chest xrays, every blood test, antibiotics for everything and a spinal tap. Tomorrow I get another spinal tap since everyone is still confused as to what causes this continual severe headache, sensitivity to light and neck stiffness Thank you everyone for your well wishes ! You're great support! Funny part is my university professor faxed the final exam to the hospital to I could do it while I'm in here (on my birthday today no less) Dr's were upset she wanted to do that but I pressed it because I have to pass this class which means taking this test (brain infection and pain or not) It wasn't easy, but it takes for a fun story

    Pneumonia and Meningitis ***WORRIED***

Thank you. The gastric sleeve has Mr in a roller coaster of emotions. I cry easy. This isn't helping that. Still is the best decision I've ever made, I just wish the emotions were easier. Prayers are certainly welcomed and appreciated

Why is is easier after surgery?

True true! I've only ever dropped a max of 30lbs and then gained it back in a few months. Seeing 77lbs gone and knowing it takes work but I will have tong term progress if stick to it is awesome! I will continue to keep using my tool to keep it off

    Vacation coming! :)

Sw: 256 Surgery W: 236 (5/12/2015) Cw: 178 Total : 78lbs I'm so excited!! My summer prerequisite classes are coming to a close this week and on Friday my kids, and I leave on vacation for 6 days before my full time masters program starts! We live in Northern California and no will head to see family in Anaheim and go to California Adventure It will be the first time I will ride rides without wondering if I'll fit or if it will latch! I remember not being allowed to ride a ride at magic mountain because it wouldn't latch over my boobs and tummy Then, onto AZ to see family who knows I've had the surgery but hasn't seen the progress. They have known me for the past 15 years as 250-265 and a 3X/22 pants. Being a size 12 will be fun to show off. And I've missed my family so much. I hope I haven't sounded conceeded. I really am very humble about this whole progress. I'm grateful to the support here and by my loved ones as I make the transition to the person I've always felt like buried inside the fat

How much lost? Surgery July 15th

3.5 months out. 57 since surgery 77 overall

Why is is easier after surgery?

They remove the excess part of your stomach which also has the, area that produces the hunger hormone. Eventually that will grow back. But initially it forces us to only eat certain types of food, in small portions, and without liquids during eating. Hopefully during that time we will develop healthy eating and Water and exercise habits to keep it off long term. If not, eventually we will stretch our stomachs again and gain back. In short, it's a tool that helps. Not a solution. It only works if you use it. *well, initially it will work no matter what because you Cannot eat enough to gain and your body will loose weight **
