    Women only lol!

No...nothing like that here....I've personally never heard of it. I think you should at least call your doctor. Don't get alarmed though, it could be normal.

    Help! Pain!

I went through this too...stopped taking pain meds, I did rely on liquid tylenol though for incision pain.
  3. I'm not talking food here...I can't bring myself to wear any of my favorite perfumes now...I get a little sick feeling...it's so weird. Hand creams, yeah forget them too. It only started a few days ago. Also, I'm so stinking tired too....I've not changed eating patterns either. I almost fell asleep at my desk at work during lunch today reading my kindle! Cripes! Only difference in my life is I haven't been to the gym but once this week due to work and family schedules...I'm still fairly busy and active even though I haven't been in the gym but once this week. I'm getting about 8-9 hours of sleep every night too. Argh...I'm blaming it on my pouch...even if its not the culprit! And now, as I'm typing this...someone has burned popcorn in the microwave! Just shoot me...please! I haven't felt like this since I was pregnant...OMG wait!?@#)* I'm not pregnant am I???!!!!!??? No...note to self...I'm on birth control, and you must have sex to get pregnant! Whew...that was close....yep it's the pouch.

    Wine

Wow...just wow.... Anyhow...I think it is obvious that there are varying opinions, here on BP and in the Bariatric field on when to drink....talk to your doctor or NUT. EVERYONE is different...regardless we shouldn't be tearing each other down because of these differences. This board is to encourage each other, not shame each other.

    Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!

QUESTIONS: 1. How long did you go before having your first drink? 7 weeks post surgery. I had 1 glass (6 oz) at one of my best friends wedding last weekend. Then another 6 oz later at the hotel afterwards. Nothing since. I used to drink a couple glasses of wine on the weekends, maybe a couple beers in a month. Not touching beer or anything carbonated until I am much closer to goal...or maybe longer...don't know...I don't really have any immediate desire to do so. 2. Have you had any MEDICAL complications with your surgery that were attributed to drinking alcohol? None 3. Have you gained back significant weight from drinking alcohol? No 4. Have you developed an alcohol addiction post VSG after having been able to control your drinking before?

    carbs?

I don't focus on carbs much either....I don't count calories either. Nut told me to eat 64 oz of lean Protein a day...I have a hard enough time getting those in. At meals, I eat about 3 oz of protein...and if there is any room left, I'll eat a little bit of non starchy veggies, maybe a tiny bit of Quinoa or brown rice...but it is really only like a tablespoon I can get in. Sometimes for Snacks I'll eat a small plum or some red/yellow/green peppers...strawberries with my yogurt, stuff like that. I have found a very low carb bread (6 net carbs per slice), but I mainly just use it to give my family. I did have a half a slice with Breakfast last week, and it had very little impact on my pouch or my WL. I have enough issues getting the 64 oz of protein and 64 oz of Water, I don't really have much room or mental energy left to really worry about carbs, I just try to make the right choices when I do eat them. I find that the more I focus on counting calories and carbs, the more stressed out I get...so I stopped doing it. Nut told me to count protein...so that is what I'm doing. I'm down 50 pounds....as long as it keeps going down, and I keep feeling great...I'm good...so is my NUT. I've been tracking my food on the Bariastic app on my phone.
  8. Divagirl...are you eating LF no sugar yogurt? No sugar applesauce, diluting oatmeal, SF pudding, soft eggs...FF cream Soup, stuff like that? As far as the tickler...I can't remember how I did it, but I do know you click on your profile and it is somewhere in there. Maybe an BP expert can assist you there....
  9. OKCPirate: Oh no, is this the start of an emotional roller coaster ride?...wheeeee Buckle up if that's the case! LOL Just kidding.... I'm not normally an emotional person...I always joke that my 2 older sisters (who both ruined my chance of being an only child...God love them)....took all the boobs and emotions from my mom until there was none left for me. I promise to not take any of it out on my BP pals.

    Regret surgery

8 weeks post, so far no regrets...regret I hadn't done it sooner? Yes. I personally regret that I allowed myself to get to the point where I even became candidate for surgery. But I do not regret the surgery and the changes in my body and mind even with just 2 months into it.

    HELP

Whether or not you end up having WLS or not, I hope you know your value in life is precious...don't forget that, no matter what. Every day we get up, is another day we can find hope in our world. I am personally 8 weeks post op, and I still struggle to find my confidence and my will to keep moving on in this WL journey. We are here for you....and we all get down sometimes.... I haven't been on here long, but I have been here long enough to know you are welcome here among friends, to share experiences, trials and triumphs....

    Flu Shot

My doctor encouraged me to do so...but I have no co-morbidities either.
  15. I have BCBS, but I only waited less than a week. I got the news before my doc did.

    Puree Stage Baby Food Blues

Ircarr, I have a party bullet that I "USED" to make frozen cocktails in. I use it now for food. Any food processor or even a blender will work...if you are worried about the consistency....add some Fluid and then strain it. It's only a week, you got this!

Day Two of Pre-op Liquid Diet

How many days do you have to do? It gets easier after the 3rd day...Hang in there!
  19. You are doing great! I know it is hard not to feel down right after surgery. I had to force myself to eat and to walk...but I kept doing it, knowing it would be a temporary struggle. I was allowed to eat non fat greek yogurt, fat free cream soup (strained), SF popsicles, SF Jello and pudding, Protein shakes, sf applesauce (toss in some powdered milk and dilute), diluted cooked Cereal like cream of wheat, oatmeal or grits (but my pouch hated the cream of wheat). Do as much walking as your body will allow...that was the only thing (other than the PPI doc prescribed), that got rid of the gas and stomach pains. You are not alone, and you do have this!!! Hang in there!

    Hungry a lot!

I am no expert, but are you losing inches still? Muscle weighs more than fat...so if you are losing inches and not lbs, I really wouldn't worry. Personally, I am terrified of eating carbs...so I would like to hear an expert weigh in, but that is the only thing I can see wrong with your meals, but that is my opinion....

    Day 4 full liguids. PAIN.

Ugh, cream of wheat....I thought it was going to be the death of me! No matter how much I diluted it, it sank like a brick in my pouch. I stopped eating it....I did better with diluted oatmeal with powdered milk for extra Protein.

    Hurt again.

I am so sorry you are going through this.... As a daughter of an alcoholic father....I feel your pain. However, he is responsible to fix his own problems. My dad had a reason to drink for every day of the week. If it wasn't tragedy Monday, it was joy Tuesday, or boredom on Wednesday, or that his boxers were too tight on Thursday...Friday...well that's the weekend...drinking so much he never got a hangover because he never truly sobered up. Never took ownership of his problem. It was torture growing up with that. I watched my mother for 25 years make excuse after excuse for his behavior and actions...while he but inhaled booze. She thought it was alright because he still provided for the family. Yes it is a disease and only one curable once they are convinced they have a problem. I prayed for years my parents would split because of the damaged it cause us all as a family. But she stayed, until the day he died an old age of 55. In my opinion, she enabled him to lead that life for never setting boundaries for herself or for us kids with him and never forcing him to choose booze or us. It took me many sessions in therapy to state that I resented her for that as much as him. Ok...wrong path here..this iss about you It is hard as hell watching someone you care about decline like that...but once it starts to be YOUR problem it is time to say, "you've got a problem, get help and I'll help you too...or if you don't I'm gone." You can help people mend, but you can't do it for them. They are always sorry after the fact, most are sincere when they say it. But sorry doesn't fix it...recovery does and if he is not willing to do that, then you honestly should move on.

    DaVinci Robot....

I had robotic laser surgery. I experienced some pain the first 24 hours after surgery, the next day only minor soreness. I only took pain meds for the first 24 hours, then just some tylenol. I was able to walk 4 hours after surgery and every other hour afterwards. I only have 4 very small incisions instead of 5. After the first couple of days, I felt great...still do. I would say, if it is available DO IT! It is way less invasive and recovery is much easier.
