Juice drinks....
Pillar2butterfly replied to aleja908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not drink juice at all, except an occasional 4 oz of low sodium V8...IMO it's wasted calories. -
NSV...Kind of embarrassing but what the heck!
Pillar2butterfly posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought of putting this in the powder Room...but I really have no shame! LOL This morning I started my daily ritual of chaos that the beginning of each day always consists of. I'm wearing a pj top and a robe. My daughter is upstairs getting ready for school, and my husband is on the couch eating Breakfast and drinking his morning tea. I'm walking in the hallway downstairs and my panties decide to take it upon themselves to slide all the way down to my knees, just from me walking and gravity. I'm like..."REALLY?!" My husband comes running, wondering what happened. Then he sees me then thinks that I'm ready for him to get frisky...not really remembering that I am NOT a morning person. So I'm standing there not knowing whether to laugh or cry or both. I guess I'll be shopping this weekend for new ones that fit properly...or start wearing the bottoms to my pjs from now on...or perhaps, with my husbands suggestion, become a "morning person." Too funny not to share.... -
Meet with Surgeon tomorrow
Pillar2butterfly replied to Steven Snyder's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good luck with your meeting! Welcome to the journey! -
Mine certainly did not..when I went in for my 1 month post appt...I was frustrated about the stall (even complained here and that's how I found out it was normal). I even told my NUT I found out here...and she was a little offended and said "Yes it is normal, but don't believe everything you read on those forums." I think it's like when you are buying a used car and the former owner neglects to tell you that sometimes the car won't start. Don't advertise the negative if you don't have to, it makes a better sell.

Every. Fricking, Time. I. Eat. No matter how slow or fast I eat. No matter how much I chew the food up. It's annoying, but I deal with it. Usually my family says after each meal..."Let's time her to see how long it takes this time."

Do you eat when you're hungry?
Pillar2butterfly replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know what stage you are in...but I am almost 4 months post op. I eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks a day. My snacks are simple things like 1-2 oz low fat cheese...or 2 oz almonds, or 4 oz greek yogurt. My meals are like an egg for Breakfast, some tuna for lunch, 3 oz chicken with a little veggie for dinner. I can't eat much at a time, so I span my meals out and eat like every 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours...so I can fit in all my Protein in...I eat at least 64 oz of protein. If you are not sure, talk to your NUT or doctor. -
time it takes to eat
Pillar2butterfly replied to journeymeh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long does it take to eat?...it's much for me like "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop"? It takes a lot less time than it should for me. It really depends on the food. It takes me normally about 15 minutes, but there are times it take about 5 and others it take 25. My doctor says, to spend 15-20 minutes completing a meal...but sometimes...I just mess up -
I have BCBS...no issues, got approval in less than a week. Paid all but 20%...my out of pocket total for copays, exams, tests and surgery was only $2k. Very clear cut on their stipulations. 6 month followed plan.

Tacos
Pillar2butterfly replied to justthebeginning's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally eat tacos routinely with my family...just less the shell. I cook with either ground turkey or 90% lean ground beef. I eat the meat, low fat cheese, lettuce, tomato, vegetarian refried Beans, avocado, and FF sour cream. I can eat the equivalent of 1 taco...or like 1 cup....just in a salad form, not taco form. i like it because there is usually leftovers for the next day. -
@@lorri716 Congratulations!!!! I also count from my highest weight, which was what I was at the start of my WLS journey.

Absolutely...and often! I only shop at consignment shops because I refuse to pay top dollar for clothes I won't be wearing long. I just bought a pin stripe dress in size 14...holding it in the front of my closet door, with a couple other items, so I see it everyday. I tried it on last night and could get it buttoned, just a bit too snug still.

Thanksgiving Tips
Pillar2butterfly replied to CJ Porter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"So, I'm starting my Thursday with participating in a Turkey Trot 5K." That is awesome!!! Good for you!!! I am cooking for just us 4, so I'm keeping it really simple. Turkey, stuffing, mashed cauliflower, cran sauce, and some type of veggie. I getting the family pie, but I don't really like pie anyway. One of our traditions is that we go around the table expressing things we are most thankful for. He said he was going to say how much of a change he sees in me since I started this WLS journey. I am focusing on that and my own thoughts on thankfulness, hopefully it will keep me on track. -
How many grams of carbs
Pillar2butterfly replied to Rhino89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally do not count carbs or calories. My doc and NUT says between 64-80 grams of Protein daily is required...and 64 oz minimum of Water. I eat in this order: protein, veggies, fruit/starch. Most of my actual carbs come from fruit. I don't drink juice, if I consume fruit, it is fresh, typically things like some berries tossed in my greek yogurt. I really do not have any room for carbs because by the time I am done eating my of protein, there is very little room for anything else. I take all my Vitamins daily. I do look at the nutrition labels on everything I eat. If it have more than 10 grams of carbs or fat, it doesn't go in my mouth. I'm down 62 lbs in 14 weeks. If I had to count everything, I'd go crazy. i just journal what I eat on Bariastic app. -

Ah honey, I'm sorry...I agree with everyone else, being direct will get to the bottom of it. Hopefully you get through whatever it is and come out stronger. If it were my bestie, I'd show up at her door if I had to....unannounced if necessary.

What were (or are) some of the barriers holding you back from getting wls?
Pillar2butterfly replied to miamomma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only thing that ever held me back was the thought of altering my stomach in a manner that was not reversible. I got over that mental hurdle fairly quickly though. -

Time off work - selfish?
Pillar2butterfly replied to Leesa926's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Our jobs are what we do for a living, not what we live to do...at least that is my opinion. I don't know where you work or your situation, but there is nothing selfish about this. If you needed surgery to repair anything else on your body, would that be selfish? I used FMLA for my surgery. You don't need to tell them anytime you don't want to and you shouldn't ever feel guilty about bettering yourself...you look out for you...because you cannot depend on them to do it for you. -
