How long were you on pain medicine for at home?
Pillar2butterfly replied to scoots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't come home on anything but Pepcid....stopped taking pain meds while in the hospital, I didn't like how they made me feel. Maybe some Tylenol, but nothing prescribed. -
I think you'll be ok

This Pre-Op diet is the pits.
Pillar2butterfly replied to JapGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pre op was tough the first 2 (out of 7) days. I only ate Greek yogurt,SF Jello, SF pudding, Protein shakes, broths, and strained creamy Soups. After the third day, it got better. -
Alcohol... ????
Pillar2butterfly replied to lsubabe33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months post op. I have yet to try beer. I have a very occasional glass of white wine and can barely tolerate it, as it sits right in my esophagus. i find it best to just not bother with it at all. -

Not So Supportive Support Group
Pillar2butterfly replied to virgorooster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry this happened to you. Don't be discouraged. Everyone has their own journey. And some like to be in the limelight and many think they are a WLS expert simply for having had the surgery. I would try going again and give it another chance. Did they break up into so small groups? My support group has about 100 folks there each month, and we break into smaller groups. If it is already a smaller group, maybe ask your doctor for a contact for a possible mentor, someone that has had the sleeve as well. You are doing great! -

Noisy tummy always here....always after eating, no matter what it is or how much I've chewed it. It's just my new "normal".

Ok, A better woman would not say this, but a better woman isn't typing this...I am So here it goes. I'm going out on a limb alone here. You owe your sister absolutely NOTHING. You do not owe her an explanation of how hard you have worked and will ALWAYS need to work, nor do you owe her an explanation that WLS was in no way an easy way out. You owe her nothing at all...you do not have to, nor should you feel like you are obligated to defend yourself to her or anyone else. You do not even owe her the explanation and facts about surgery. Now what does she owe you? The same, nothing. When we disclose personal things to people, we are always taking a chance that the other person will be a big blabber mouth and even worse an asshole. If you value your relationship with her, I suggest you tell her when others ask how you did it, to simply say. "You will have to ask her." Nothing more nothing less. If she doesn't abide by your request and suggestion, then, I would tell her, I will never confide in you again. Now, I also understand that we all typically care about our siblings and family and we want them on our side...so I can certainly see the point of all the others posts with very valuable suggestions. It just really pisses me off when people who think they know anything open their mouths....I don't even know where to begin with her asininity.

Guys, keep your comments to yourselves
Pillar2butterfly replied to stacyrg1's topic in Rants & Raves
Catcalls...ugh... I did have one positive experience. I walked by a man working on surveying. He simply said "Beautiful...just beautiful" while looking me in the eyes. Then went about his work again. Others, I felt like I could kick them in the 'nads. -
What stage are you in now?

People Suck!
Pillar2butterfly replied to usedtobeaskater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
times like that...I've learned instead of saying "F*ck You..." to actually say "OK, great! You look great too!" Add in some actual eye rolls and virtual mental bitch slaps. -
Lets talk scales....
Pillar2butterfly replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have my standard dial scale, had it for years. I don't need to have anything fancy, just use the same one and as long as it's going down and not up...I'm happy. -
I attended a football party this weekend...and was asked to bring an appetizer. I did a sampling of: my fav veggies, hummus, shrimp, low fat cheeses, and ham cubes. Everyone was super excited, especially over the shrimp.

No one stayed with me....All I did was walk and sleep. Not much to see there.

Sad/fustrated. ..
Pillar2butterfly replied to janira's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's easy to be sad and frustrated...we all want our excess weight off and we want it to happen fast. Our bodies take the time it needs to do just that. Yes, it is very common to stall...just keep getting in your Protein, Water and Vitamins...if you follow the plan, it will come off. You will hit stalls, throughout the entire process. Chin up, all is good -

Husband not supportive
Pillar2butterfly replied to christina Abdo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First, I am sorry you are dealing with this. It sucks to not have our spouse on board. I would first find out what are his concerns and start there. IMHO, telling him that's it just the way it is going to be, isn't really going to solve the heart of the issue. Ultimately, yes it is your decision, your body, but it would be so much easier with his support. Try to find out what his issues are specifically with it, and see if you can help ease his concern, take him with you to an appointment or support group meeting. Hope it all goes well for you...keep us posted. -
I eat a small salad with a couple ozs of tuna, crab, or chicken etc but never just a salad. I have to add Protein values to it for it to be of any use to me...otherwise, it's really not worth the meal. I was at 8 weeks when i had my first. Might have a little every week, but not much, its no longer a go to meal now, and normally I only eat it when no other WLS friendly options are available.

I had to do 6 months. Honestly, it goes by so slow and fast at times at other times. I was glad I had to wait that long, because it took me that long to get my mind prepared for the lifestyle change. I don't think I would have been prepared with less than that. It took me so long to mentally absorb the eating changes and mental obstacles. You need to think of it like this...the insurance is paying a nice chuck of change to assist in your change..they want to make sure you are really ready and really healthy enough for this.

Marinated in light Ranch dressing and broil. Simple, but tasty.

@@retzlpa Mean people suck...I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I am a mom of a special needs child, I see the looks and hear the comments. The a$$holes that do this are judging based on looks and not taking the time to get to know her. Sounds like the same for you. I've heard it about myself too, heard the snickering behind my back. I am also thick skinned, but I am also someone that sees the merit in someone not based on how they look. I usually say something back to them snarky about their bad attitude. Mean people are always going to suck, no matter how much weight you lose or how great a person you are inside. You can't change people, best you can do is not allow them to change you. Keep being awesome!
