How many incisions did you end up with?
Pillar2butterfly replied to pewpewpewpew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 4, but I had my sleeve surgery with the robotic arm. -

what to tell the surgeon?
Pillar2butterfly replied to pleezeSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved based on my BMI alone...I had no co-morbidities. -
Ok, so I started this morning off to a good start...weighed myself and saw another 3 lbs loss. Awesome me....yeah, yadda ya. I get to work and decide to check the BMI calculator....that a$$hole told me I was still overweight! On the bright side, I am no longer morbidly obese or even obese...but damn...I don't want to be overweight anymore either! Yes...poor pitiful me...I shouldn't complain, I am doing great, but....still! Sorry, having a bad morning..feel free to skip over this self absorbed thread of mine.

My surgeon doesn't recommend drinking anything with carbonation due to it causing gas. It effects some and not others so he just tells everyone to steer clear. Also, empty calories...and it could trigger other addictions. He never mentioned anything about it stretching the stomach though.

Ok, here's another one....if you are fortunate enough not to have a disability...DO NOT PARK IN THE HANDICAPPED SPACES! DO NOT USE THE HANDICAPPED BATHROOM STALLS AND DO NOT USE THE HANDICAPPED SHOPPING CARTS! My daughter is disabled, after having 4 open heart surgeries in her short 24 years of life....she needs these things! If you use these and do not need them, you are an assf^ck.

Why is it in Cialis commercials, the couples are in separate bath tubs? Shouldn't they be together, isn't that the point? Also, why bath tubs? I think it is fairly inconvenient to have sex in a tub, not impossible, but certainly inconvenient.

What was your goal weight set by your surgeon?
Pillar2butterfly replied to Sveglia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon didn't set a goal, just asked me what goals I had and confirmed I wasn't being nuts, and I was realistic. HW 258, VSG 08/19/15, now 155. -
BMI calculator is a real *******
Pillar2butterfly replied to Pillar2butterfly's topic in Rants & Raves
Thank you everyone for your responses....I am 155 now..and my goal originally was 150 lbs...but looking at my hips and thighs, i can do better than that...seems like I have nothing to lose anywhere else BUT there....so I'm still thinking going down to 135....hopefully that pesky BMI calculator will not mock me then! So, twenty to go.... I agree with everyone else, BMI are a crapper...and unrealistic. Honestly, I haven't been 155 since high school, and that was in 1988...so that I am here again is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks for bearing with my temporary pity party... -
My advice is to be direct to her. Tell her you have everything under control and are adhering to the program to a tee and will continue to take advice from your doctor and support staff and if she has any questions about how WLS and afterwards, you will gladly give her their number if she has questions. Tell her you appreciate her obvious concern but her comments make you feel uncomfortable and are not welcomed in the future. Tell her your life is yours to champion or fail...and not her concern.

Feeling bad...no progress
Pillar2butterfly replied to Nyelaah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, no sense in any of us beating you up about it...you are doing that enough yourself. Chin up.... Best place to start is at the beginning again...that is exactly what I do when i have a bad day or days. My mental mantra: "Go back to the basics. Eat your Protein and get in your Water. Stop eating the crap Get moving." Do you have a NUT you can talk to in order to help get you back on track? You can do this...don't give up on yourself! -
One Liners for so-called friends...
Pillar2butterfly replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Q: How did you loose the weight (I'm keeping my WLS private)? A: I did exactly what my doctor told me to do... MINE (yesterday to a colleague): Extreme overall Sand blaster and routine persistent jackhammer to the thighs (it really wasn't any of her business, she is the watercooler reporter of the entire building) Q: Is that on your diet? (From a so-called friend peering over my plate as I try to eat my meal) A: Well actually, my doctor thinks I've lost too much weight and wants me to add on a few pounds A: What are you having to eat? MINE: Why of course, and I look fabulous eating it too, don't you think so? Q: You must have spent a fortune on new clothes? A: Not so much, now that I'm a normal size, I can take advantage of sales. A: I did enjoy donating my old clothes to charity... Mine: Baby I'm worth it. I spend my money on clothes not food now. Anyone else? Here's a few more: How much have you lost? MINE: Not yet enough, but I'm getting there. Are you afraid of gaining it back? MINE: Not as afraid as I am of driving in rush hour traffic...it's like running with the bulls out there. I even got this one from a family member that "heard" I had surgery: Are you sure your mother approves of you having that surgery? MINE: Well, considering I am a grown woman of the age of 46, I really stopped asking her approval on such things. -
I started out at 258 lbs, size 22. I'm now 158 lbs size 12, somethings I can get into a 10. Seems my remaining excess lbs are all in my hips and thighs! UGH!

Can a Icee stretch your pouch
Pillar2butterfly replied to Tmitch817's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is good stuff. I'm so dang grateful for women who choose the large straws. I love it when they put on a show. Ok, now this thread is getting interesting! -
I got this one once...said to my husband "Wow your wife is hot now...better keep your eye on her." I'm like really? I'm hot NOW? I was hot before...asshole. AND I'm standing right here! I'm serious that crap just spews out of people's mouths at times. All in all, comments I've received were positive and I believe well meant....some of it just comes out as verbal dribble.

Doc said weight loss plan was a waste of time. I need encouraged.
Pillar2butterfly replied to Beck90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Beck90 Sorry your doctor said that to you. I can't understand why he would discourage you from doing any activity....Actually sounds like your doctor is a jerk. I have lost 100 lbs, I'm 9 months out. I was ENCOURAGED to start on Water aerobics because I was not active..so it was a good idea for a start for me. I did it solely for like 2 weeks (well, in addition to just walking the neighborhood) and then started treadmill, stationary bike and other cardio equipment. I then added in strength training. I'm now walking every morning, even jogging some. I've yet to be able to do all of the things that your jackass doctor suggests you do. I am certainly not saying it can't be done or saying it shouldn't be encouraged, but he's on some serious smack if he thinks it is where most of us start! My doctor's group has doctors, NUT's and people there to help develop an exercise routine (even a gym facility where you can work out for free with their guidance)... they told me best way to start, is to start. Move, start moving and then push yourself a little more each time. Ultimately, you know what you can do and not do. I personally think you have a good plan...I would encourage you to do it...then as the weight drops, and you have more endurance, do other stuff...work yourself up to more. Good luck to you....you got this! -

Calorie intake
Pillar2butterfly replied to Mz.Sagg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is something you should work out with your doctor or NUT. Personally, I have never counted calories post op. I strive for a minimum of 64 oz lean Protein. I eat in this order protein first, then veggies, then fruit, then carbs. I've rarely made it to the fruit. I try to never eat anything that is over 10 grams of sugar, or fat, or carbs. There just isn't any room left really after the protein. That is something you should work out with your doctor or NUT. Personally, I have never counted calories post op. As of today my current weight is 158 Highest weight was 258....so as of today, I am down exactly 100 lbs. I am 9 months post op sleeve....best decision ever. It wasn't/isn't easy, but definitely easier than I thought it would be.
