I'm seeking some advice for my cycle. Prior to surgery April 2015 I had regular every 28 days that would last 3-5 days and be medium flow no cramping. After surgery it took five months for me to get a period at all and when I finally did they have been 2 days long no cramping but very light barely spotting. Continue to use the pill properly. Not sure what's going on as my obgyn is not familiar with gastric bypass patients. 122 pounds down. This month it is two days late but I am not sexually active. Any thoughts? Starting weight 218 pounds, surgery date 204, current weight 118 pounds at ten months out. Surgery date was 4/29/15. The first picture is around 180 pounds on the left and 145 on the right. The second picture is of my license taken January 2015 on top and February 2016 on bottom. The final picture im on the left and it was taken in January 2016 but I've lost an additional ten pounds between then and now. Still continuing to lose. -
Hello. I had gastric bypass on 4/29/15 and my starting weight was 218. As of today I am 118 and three pounds away from my official goal of 115. I'm curious to know if this is typical or should I be concerned? I was 105 in high school in 2005 and I still looked healthy but I have read of cases where people have lost too much and looked sickly etc. Thanks for any feedback.

I've only had a jp drain during my gastric bypass surgery and it was removed on day two after surgery. However, contrary to alot of you, mine was extremely painful removal, they clipped the stitches holding it in place which felt very much like when you accidentally clip the skin next to your fingernails when you cut them and it bleeds. Then the removal itself, very much like a magician with the fabric pulling out of the mouth, was so painful I vomited as the nurse was pulling it out, it was a good couple feet of tubing that was supposedly all in my abdomen. Not fun. The nurses will lie to you and tell you it won't hurt but this is only to prevent you from tensing up before removal.

Currently 9 months out and I'm able to enjoy any cut of steak provided is cooked medium rare, pork if it's not overcooked, rotisserie style chicken and chicken thighs but things like chicken nuggets and chicken breast that's too dry doesn't work. Fish works same as with shellfish no issues unless it's overcooked and rubbery. Funny thing is ground beef in a burger doesn't work for me at all really upsets my stomach but I am able to eat just the insides of a McDonald's kids burger no bun. Still only eating between 3-5 ounces per serving 3-4 times a day and about 800-900 calories a day. I realize I'm much luckier than some patients with gastric bypass. Starting weight 218, pre surgery weight 204, current weight 120.

When could you start to eat solid food
ashleybrady87 replied to ashleybrady87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't know for sure until I consulted with my surgeon who referred me to a GI doctor. Then the GI doctor performed an upper endoscopy to see what was going on inside and found the stricture. They've since been able to dilate it, stretch it open, with a balloon through the endoscopy twice and I'm scheduled for a third one this coming Monday. -

Yes, within my guidelines in my book I've tried things like tuna salad, egg salad, mushy scrambled egg, etc but all without success. End up feeling like a clogged drain with liquid gurgling up into my throat when I burp. -

When could you start to eat solid food

I'm currently ten weeks post op RNY and a little over one week since my first endoscopy and dilation of a stricture they found. I have only been able to tolerate yogurt and premier protein shakes since day one and have been unable to move to solid food. I'm regretting my decision to have the surgery as I'm still unable to eat and only manage to get around 400 calories a day from my two shakes and two yogurts. My question is when did you start to be able to tolerate and eat solid food? I would love to hear some feedback from those of you who had complications with strictures. -

I am experiencing the same thing, anytime I introduced solids they would feel as if I had heartburn until they either finally pass or throw up. Surgeon seems to think possible stricture so I'm scheduled Thursday to get endoscopy done. Be strong, tell them you want checked for stricture

Surgeon and GI doctor both feel I might have a stricture so I'm scheduled for endoscopy on Thursday. -

My surgeons nurse seems to think I have a stricture and I'm going in tomorrow to consult with my surgeon. If he thinks it's a stricture he will refer me to GI doctor for endoscopy -
It really depends on the person and their sensitivity to hormones. I myself have tried the nuvaring, patch, pill, Mirena iud, and depo. I gained weight with all of them except for the pill. 80 pounds with the iud in one year and then about 45 pounds from the depo in three months. It's the main reason I chose to have wls was due to the fact that I gained all that weight from hormones but couldn't get it off from dieting.

Thank you, though I find that within a few bites I am having this heartburn feeling that prevents me from eating any more. I'll have to send that to my NUT and see whether this is something my surgeon should address. Tuna doesn't sit well with my pouch at all it just gets stuck and comes back up with thick foamy saliva. Same with hamburger but I have had some success with canned chicken and chicken salad. -
I'm finding I'm only able to get in between 450-600 when my surgeon wants 800-1000. I'm subsisting mostly on Greek yogurt, Turkey dogs, babybel cheese, cottage cheese and publix pre made chicken salad. I'm only getting in one protein shake per day as they make me nauseated. I find that within a bite or two despite chewing and taking small bites that I develop this heartburn feeling that only goes away when I stop eating. Does anyone have suggestions on things foods to try that might help boost my calories up some more? Thank you
