Sharing before and After pics finally
alisiak replied to Djmohr's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amazing! Congrats on your loss, you look fantastic. I also want to thank you for your posts, I've learned a lot from them. ☺ -
Same issue here, and PMS is so much worse for me after surgery. It's the only time I ever feel hungry.
-
So embarrassing but...I gotta ask anyway! Is anyone else suffering with horrible gas? Can this be treated?
alisiak replied to armywife79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally have the same issue... It's completely awful. It happens mostly if I eat anything sweet. Ugh... -
Top picture is the week before surgery. Bottom two are current photos. Starting weight 277, current weight 182. Total loss of 95 pounds just shy of 6 months. Could not be happier!!

Thanks so much everyone! I had RNY on July 1st, 2015. The weight loss has really slowed down and although it's frustrating I know that if I stick to the plan I'll keep plugging away. It's so hard to stay off the scale! I'm only 5 pounds from my goal weight but my Dr says that I will continue to lose for another 3-6 months. Best decision I've ever made!!

Ladies, menstrual cycle
alisiak replied to kfs5628's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 3 months after surgery I had the same issue. It's definitely slowed down now and they are super light as of lately. I think our bodies are just so out of whack everything is trying to figure things out. -
Apps you're using for logging you're food?
alisiak replied to thbrown223's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just started using BARIATASTIC and I absolutely love it! It's a tracker designed specifically for bariatric patients, tracks calories, carbs, protein.... Pretty much everything. The app gives recipes and access to a few different weight loss forums. It's fantastic!! -
Tomorrow will mark my 3 month surgaversary and I am down 63 pounds. I'm 5'9 and my surgery day weight was 277. Everyone keeps asking when I will stop and I'm not really sure. What has everyone else's experience been like? My goal is to lose 100 in a year but seems like I'll hit that mark much quicker... Or no?

Lots of soups, Turkey chili, stuffed pepper soup minus the rice, zucchini boats stuffed with sausage and mushrooms....
-
String cheese, Turkey jerky and laughing cow rolled up in deli meat too...
-
3 months out and I eat cottage cheese and vegetables almost everyday for lunch.... Dinner too sometimes. It's easy on the tummy.
-
When that happens to me the only way I feel better is to sort of force myself to throw up.... It's the worst but helps so much. Feel better soon!
-
I have found that my tolerance hasn't changed much. The hangover however is so much worse!!! And thanks for being honestly in your post, some people claim to be perfect on this site. I drink vodka and water with a splash of crystal lite liquid in it. Just FYI. I would say 2 of those will do the trick

I'm 9 weeks post op and still never feel full. I just eat until I'm not hungry anymore. Usually about 4 ounces. It's totally hard but trust me, you'll get the hang of it. I've already lost 50 pounds! Hope that gives you some encouragement.. It's all so worth it.
-
So I am 4 weeks post op. (down 28 lbs) and I'm just now starting to get sick from certain foods. I just feel as if something is stuck, I kind of feel phlegmy and then get sick. After that I'm better but don't try eating for several hours after. Is what I'm experiencing 'dumping' or 'frothing'? Also when did everyone experience dumping for the first time and from what?
-
I know the difference now... Loud and clear!! ????
-
OK wow, I had my first experience with 'dumping syndrome' after eating watermelon last night, wow was it terrible! It was like having the most intense stomach flu I've ever had for a solid 20 minutes, sweating, dizzy, shaking..... Ugh terrible.

Do I need a Pizza Funeral
alisiak replied to ShareeB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a pizza addict, and at 6 weeks out no longer really like it much. It really loses its appeal when you're chewing it to death, just isn't the same. -
I'm at 6 weeks and only getting about 500 calories. Stay focused more on lean protein, that helped me when I stalled too. My Dr said that it's usually around 5-6 weeks to expect a stall. Hang in there, the pounds will keep falling off!!

Yes!! I brush constantly, it's like never ending fear of having bad breath. Even in the hospital the first thing I asked for was a toothbrush.
-
The way that I experienced it was something got stuck and all of this mucus like 'goo' came up into my mouth. Our stomach before surgery produced something that helped us digest our food, now after surgery that part of the stomach is no longer part of the digestive 'action', so this is our new body's way of helping us get the food down. This is by no means the scientific explanation, but the explanation of a bariatric patient who knows how much it sucks.
-
I've had the same problem! Went to the Dr last week and he recommended to drink more than 64oz of fluid per day and to drink electrolytes as well, that has been helping me. I've made it my job to get my fluids in.... And it's hard work! He also said that our bodies are struggling to figure out what happened to them and sometimes when we shift our weight too fast that can cause dizzies also. Good luck to you, I feel your pain!

Mr Dr says that about 3/4 of bariatric patients will get dumping after surgery. I've had tiny bites of sweet things and nothing has happened. I was hope to suffer from dumping (sounds crazy I know) but I'm wondering if it's not going to affect me. Hmm, guess it's a waiting game and trial and error at this point.
-
Oof, yes I saw that. That must have been rough! So would you consider that 'dumping'? Or is that just food getting stuck with the foamies?

I did refried beans 2 days into the pureed food stage, (which I am still in) and they were delicious and sat very well. My nutritionist gave me a book with day to day meal plans and that was one of the meal options. Every plan is different..... Like, a lot different.
