Submitted to Insurance
kayjay14 replied to kayjay14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So just wanted to give everyone a update. I called my insurance BCBS and they had a answer. They said I was APPROVED, and that I would have to wait my doctor called me. I am so excited about this new journey I'm about to partake in. Please pray for me and thanks for the support -

Well I keep telling myself that if its meant for me to have this surgery, God will make a way and I will be approved. I know the waiting game sucks, but just hang in there! -

So no I did not have to do a 6 month waiting period. They just sent my stuff off this week and they state that it could take 2-3 weeks to hear back from BCBS I completed my last requirement, which was my last support group, 8 days ago -

Yes, BCBS is the only insurance I have. I'm really anxious cause a friend of mine had surgery and he said he got a letter in the mail about 5 days after submission stating that he was approved but the doctors office didn't call him for about a month. The waiting game sucks -

I'm hopefully having mine at Rex. My paperwork just went off for submission to insurance. Good luck with everything! -
I had problems sleeping when I initially went in for my sleep study. My doctor prescribed me a low dose ambien just to help me relax enough to go to sleep. Maybe you can ask your doctor for something to help you sleep

Depends on what type of work you do. I have a job where I do a lot of lifting and my doctor told me that I would be out for at least a month because of the lifting restriction. I know friends that have had the procedure and was only out for 2 weeks. Just ask your doctor.

What happens when you meet the surgeon for the first time?
kayjay14 replied to Beachsprite's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First appointment was not bad at all. You will get your blood pressure and vitals taken and then you will get your weight and height completed. Then you will talk to the surgeon and he will go over your options. My surgeon asked me what surgery I thought I might want to have and then he suggested his opinion based off of my medical history and weight. He also gave me time to ask questions. He was very nice and understanding and it was very laid back. I was nervous going into it but felt so good when I left knowing that this was the start to my new journey. Good luck! -

After scope how long til surgery date?
kayjay14 replied to desireat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on what else you have to complete on your pre surgical packet. I just started my process about 2 weeks ago and I just scheduled my endoscopy coming up for the next 2 weeks. You can get the endoscopy pretty early on and still have things to complete before they submit it to the insurance company -
I just started my journey about 2 weeks ago and it's worth the wait. I will agree with others. You will need a lot of patience but the end result will be greater. Good luck with your journey!!!
