Good morning lovely people! I'm 21 days post-op and desperate to find a multi-Vitamin that I'll be able to stomach. I tried Opurity after surgery and it made me nauseous almost to the point of vomiting 3 times in a row, so I gave up. My surgeon's office didn't have any other recommendations, however they did clear me to take regular Vitamins now. I'm trying not to spend hundreds of dollars trying to find the right vitamin, but I know it might have to happen since everyone is different. Does anyone love their multi-vitamin? I'm open to all recommendations. I can take chewables, regular vitamins, or gummies (will have to check the sugar though). Thanks in advance!

Gastric sleeve vs. gastric bypass
sweetsavannah replied to P7rancher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my sleeve! I was personally against WLS for myself until I heard about the sleeve. I'm only 10 weeks out and it has already changed my life for the better. My reasons for not getting bypass was because it seemed too invasive, I didn't want my intestines rerouted, didn't want dumping syndrome or malabsorption issues, and the recovery time was longer. I also know several people who had bypass and regained their weight -- now, please know that this is true of ALL surgeries and is not a fault of the surgery itself in most cases, but it was still part of my decision back then. Overall I'm happy with my decision to have the sleeve so far and I would still be over 300 pounds if I had not decided to have it (diet/exercise never worked well enough and I didn't want bypass, lapband, etc). Best of luck in your decision making! -
Hi everyone! I'm 10 weeks post-op and loving life right now! I haven't had any major problems with food so far. I did have a stomach bug, which was awful, and several weeks of stalls, but I'm 52 pounds down (32 since surgery) and feeling great! My biggest problem right now is that I'm so TIRED. I don't know what is going on with my body! When I get home from work, I sometimes fall asleep for a couple of hours, wake up and eat something light, then fall back asleep a couple of hours later. I'm definitely having trouble getting my daily exercise because my body says NOPE half of the time. My nutritionist told me that I need to try to exercise before I go home at night because otherwise I'll fall asleep. I never used to be this tired. Does anyone else have trouble with major exhaustion post-op? I try to take all of my Vitamins...sometimes I miss a few here and there, but I try to be as consistent as possible. I take an Iron supplement and b12, so I would think those are helping, but it sure doesn't seem right. I'll get bloodwork done in a couple of weeks and see if we can find a solution, but just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? ETA: I'm getting 75+ grams of Protein a day and I feel like I can eat more food than some sleevers, so I doubt food is the issue here. Water intake is okay...not stellar numbers, but much better than the first 2 months.

Thanks for the reminder, Daisee! I had thought about this, but I was never on any thyroid medication. However, I do plan to ask them if this could be a factor at my appointment in two weeks.

I'm terrible tracking calories, but I estimate that I eat around 900-1000 a day without issue. I feel like I can eat more than a lot of sleevers. My NUT thinks I'm getting too obsessive over watching my diet, so she didn't want to give me a calorie goal (probably for the best).

My surgeon and nutritionist had no complaints about my vitamins, however I wasn't eating many veggies with trying to get the Protein in, so we lowered my protein expectations and I've been eating more salads & vegetables.

Water Nausea
sweetsavannah replied to DirtyyMelodies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 weeks post-op and all I drink is plain Water now. After surgery, I drank a lot of G2...couldn't deal with plain water! But it changed for me probably around 3 weeks out. -
Gas pain sucks! How much are you walking? That is the only true remedy, in my opinion. Walk, walk, walk all day long! If you have incision pain, hug a pillow around your middle and walk anyway. It really does help!

My NUT told me I can have a sip of champagne or white wine at an upcoming wedding (I will be about 4 months post-op), but never have liquor, beer, etc. I have no desire at this point to go against her wishes. One day I will probably try it, but I rarely drink anyway, so it's not a huge loss. Every time I think about alcohol, all I can see are calories and sugar now...not as appealing as it once was!

Cheating with post op diet
sweetsavannah replied to Lucilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the temptation, believe me. I was at a super bowl party one week post-op and had major temptations to eat what everyone else was eating instead of sipping on Soup. I even cried over it. But you have to resist these temptations for your own health. This isn't like any diet plan you've tried before where you slip up and think, well tomorrow will be a better day. You could seriously damage your insides if you don't stick to the doctor's plan. Please do everything in your power to prevent this from happening again. If you need to leave the room while others are eating, do it. If you need to ask that others not eat in front of you, do that too. You need to think about the damage that you could do to yourself. Find a support person who will tell you NO when your mind says yes. My mom was that person for me...without her, I probably would have cheated a couple of weeks in! -

Vitamin Help Please :)
sweetsavannah replied to sweetsavannah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Amelie! I take the BA Calcium Citrate chewables and I think they're pretty good. Are the Advanced Multi EA chewables really large or smaller? I heard you have to take two of them. -
Wondering if anyone had their surgery and never got a barroom swallow or some type of radiology after surgery.
sweetsavannah replied to rgallardo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was expecting it, but did not have one. -
I have a complete aversion to exercise--rant
sweetsavannah replied to LEILE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually dread exercise, but I never ever regret it. The feeling after a great workout is indescribable! I try to think of exercise as chasing that feeling / chasing after excellent health. The scale will show your efforts! -
Purée Diet - I'm so lost
sweetsavannah replied to kalea_04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on purees for 6 days now and I've yet to truly "puree" anything...it might help to think of it as a mushy food stage, in a way. I've been continuing a Protein shake a day (most days), greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried Beans with Laughing Cow cheeses, ricotta bake, oatmeal (yuck), grits, and very soft scrambled eggs (make with milk). So far I haven't been bored and it is SO much better than liquids! No one says you have to puree meat if you don't want to. -
you look amazing! Congrats!!

Premier Strawberry Cream Shake Problems

I had the same problem, only with the strawberry ones! Looks like I need to email them, too -
Three weeks out and can eat four ounces easily..normal?
sweetsavannah replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently on purees and I can tell a difference depending on what type of food it is. I was able to eat a 5oz container of yogurt this morning, but more than 2-3 ounces of refried beans is a much different story. Follow your doctor's advice and you'll be fine! I think it's normal to feel nervous about everything this early in the game (I'm the same way), but you will be fine! -
Favorite Greek Yogurt
sweetsavannah replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Triple Zero! Yogurt is my FAVORITE food, before and after surgery. Triple Zero is the best. 15g of protein -
Can't believe this happened this close to surgery
sweetsavannah replied to ashleyt26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would tell your surgeon...no secrets, no surprises. Oops just read your latest post. I'm glad you told him and all is well! Feel better! -
Did anyone not have a drain?

Favorite Purees?
sweetsavannah replied to chrissygeorge25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently on purees and loving the baked ricotta, greek yogurt, refried beans, and Laughing Cow cheese triangles! Just don't forget about the protein. The only thing I've tried on purees that I didn't care for was oatmeal...weird because I loved it before, but I don't need all of those carbs anyway! -
It's officially been 2 weeks since I had surgery and I get to start eating pureed foods tomorrow! I can't believe I made it an entire month without solid food -- woohoo!! I have been SO tempted to cheat numerous times, but I resisted. My mom has been a great accountability partner in encouraging me to stick to the plan and I'm so thankful for her! Please spam me with all of your favorite mushy food ideas. I'm a bit nervous about what to try first...I'm thinking yogurt or pudding, so it won't be a huge difference from what I've been eating? My stomach can't handle sugar-free Jello since surgery, so I'm curious to see if these foods will work.

SO excited to start pureed foods tomorrow!

Thanks everyone! So far so good -- started with Greek yogurt today and it was HEAVENLY!

I love Greek yogurt! I'm not sure if the US Starbucks do it (you don't have Costa do you? If you do then they might) but If you're out and about with friends or family then coffee shops usually have low fat greek yogurt with a fruit layer at the bottom. Costa has this low fat vanilla bean Greek yogurt that is sooo nice. I couldn't finish it, but it was nice to be out with my mum and able to eat something off the shelf!
