Not trying to be rude here but your giving up on your health this fast? This surgery is a tool not a miracle surgery. It requires just as much hard work as a person who doesn't get it done to lose weight. While your working on figuring out the coverage, continue or start to work out. Good luck pal.

You could always ask if your employer offers another insurance policy from a different carrier and see what type of options you have with them. There is always out of pocket. Most places offer payment plans.

I just called them 5 minutes ago to confirm and I was told it is 100% coverage with no deductible and no co-pay. You should call again and ask to speak to manager or someone else.

I'm going through process right now with Aetna HMO. It's a 3-4 month waiting period. From what I've been told and been reading on there website is you have to meet certain criteria, such as certain bmi or hypertension. The website explains it all. You cannot gain weight at your final weigh in. So whatever you weight was on first weigh in, don't show a weight gain on last one before doctor submits all paperwork to insurance for approval.

Telling your employer about surgery
Check22 replied to jenc427's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no need to disclose any info on why your going to doctor nor what type of surgery. Your HR dept will ultimately see the type of surgery anyway when you submit the paperwork for disability or FMLA. If you have FMLA or FLI deducted from your pay your covered for them. It's a federally protected act for you to take time off for your personal medical reason or care for a family member. You have to meet certain criteria to be granted and the amount of hours your covered by it. Your HR dept should have all the necessary paperwork and information on it, and just google it and it will link you to the website to read all about it. Good luck. -
Did anyone have any issues with gaining weight during the process with the surgeon, nutritionist etc? I gained about 2Lbs since last nutritionist visit, hoping it doesn't cause a issue with insurance coverage. Any input would be great. Thanks, Joe

Weight gain while in process
Check22 replied to Check22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for the responses. I wish I didn't have to wait the 3-4 months waiting game. I got everything completed for the surgery, I'm just waiting now. -

Just curious. Getting sleeved in September. Taking meds for Hypertension. How soon after the surgery did everyone with HBP stop taking meds, and regulated BP? Thanks
