New milestone reached
Arianna0228 replied to hikergirl14's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm still pre-op, I have my surgery next Monday, but its the little things like this that make me totally look forward to it Congrats. -
It is very possible to sleep with it. I sleep with one every night, and when I wake up I feel a lot better than I did before I received the machine. I put it on right before I'm going to sleep so I'm not laying there for awhile with it on, plus the machine is very quiet so its not like it is waking you up.

You need the machine because with sleep apnea, you stop breathing multiple times a night, sometimes up to minutes at a time. The cpap machine will make sure whatever is obstructing your breathing stays open to make sure you can breathe. If you have a bipap machine, which is for central or central/obstructive mixed, makes you breathe when your brain decides not to breathe. So basically, the machine is helping keep you alive.

June 29th Bypass Surgery
Arianna0228 replied to smrogg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 done and onto day 4... it is getting tough for me... but I just am trying to keep my eyes on the prize. Just think this diet is going to be what makes this surgery so much safer and have an easier recovery. On another note, my insurance company decided they wanted to give me some troubles last minute, but I got the call today that everything is finally a green light to go. Only thing that ended up changing was my check in time at the hospital though since the hospital had to temporarily take me off of the schedule. So instead of checking in at 7am and being the first case of the day, I will check in at 830am and be the second case of the day. Irritating a little bit, but something that I can deal with. I will tell you guys a little bit about myself as well, since we get to go through this journey together. I'm 29 years old, and I honestly don't remember a time when I wasn't a big girl. Even when I was at my most athletic time in my life, when I was constantly playing soccer and softball, I was still overweight. After high school, when I wasn't as active anymore my weight just climbed. Now at this point, I've tried pretty much every diet in the books, working out at the point that I could, and it just wasn't coming off. My highest weight was right about 355 last year. At my last doctors appoint for my pre-op appointment, I weight in at about 319.8, so I finally had a little bit of success. Now, I get this extra tool to help me in the weight loss to become a healthier person. Some of the reasons that I want to do this so bad, obviously be healthier. I am currently a nursing student and when I get done, I really don't want to be the nurse that you look at and think, "really? you're telling me to eat healthy and exercise?". Another reason is the more weight that I gained, my periods went away. My primary doctor plus my surgeon told me that if i want any chance at possibly having kids, I have to lose the weight. So here I am, trying to get healthier for myself, for my future, and to beable to run around with my nieces and nephews, and to be able to do the things that I used to and love to do. You have no idea how bad I want to get on a roller coaster again, haha. 11 days until the first day of the rest of our lives. -

I've been on a variation of my pre-op diet for awhile now, so it isn't as big of a shock to my system. So I'm doing decent. I am craving some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream like something fierce though, haha. t minus 14 days -
I had been talking with my primary about it for several years, but i finally decided to move forward and looked at what insurance covered and everything last october. I then called my chosen surgeon at the begning of february, had my first visit feb 27th.

Thank you, now that I'm on my 2 week pre op diet, it is getting a lot realer. I know going through the process, I knew that this was going to be the result, but its surreal that its actually almost here. I'm excited for this life change for both of us.

Where do you shop for your vitamins, protein powders and other supplies?
Arianna0228 replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My vitamins I ordered off of amazon. My protein, I have gotten the premier protein from costco. -
My surgeon explained to me tha tthe vitamins are a non negotiable, especially with the bypass, since your body will not be absorbing everything that it used to. On the other side though too... shop around for the vitamins. I found some on amazon that were a fraction of the cost of the ones they were telling me to get that had the fancy brand name. So just do some shopping. Also as far as exercise goes, make small changes. If you go to a store, instead of driving around looking for the closest parking spot (i was bad about this) park further away and walk in. Simple things like that make your exercise add up.
