June 29th Bypass Surgery
Arianna0228 replied to smrogg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it does. But that's how this surgeon does it. Clear liquid in the hospital, full liquids until you reach 14 days, pureed for 3 weeks, then solids. -

Just watery for me. And I don't really have any problem swallowing at all... but if I do it too fast or do too much at once, I feel a little pain and it is really uncomfortable. -

I have the same time of pain on my lower right side. It started yesterday, I'm trying to decide if I want to call the surgeons office tomorrow since my next appointment with them isn't until the 13th. As far as the stool goes, it is pretty much going to be liquid I think since we don't really have anything solid to make solid with. -

Not everybody gets one, but it is a common thing to have happen. I didn't have one and my nursing team seemed kind of surprised by it. How are you feeling @@TeeNahh feeling any better? -

I'm down about 4 pounds from my surgery weight, but I wasn't below it until yesterday... I think it was all of the salt and liquids they put into me during my 3 day/2 night stay -

Day 3 Pre-op liquid diet

I had my surgery on the 29th, believe me it gets better. Just think of your goal. Going through this last process will make your surgery faster and safer. Resulting in less pain and a faster recovery time. Yay for shrinking livers, haha. -

@@smrogg I guess that does make sense, especially since I was in the hospital longer than you as well and had a lot more IV bags I'm sure because of it. I also feel sorry for everybody that is going through such a bad time with pain and nausea, I'm lucky I haven't really had to go through either. The nausea just because I knew that it would happen so we were proactive. I haven't taken anything for pain since tuesday, I'm sore but it is manageable. I do have a couple of medications they sent home with me for pain if i do need it though. -

I'm so sorry @@kell778 I couldn't even imagine that. I guess that I'm lucky that I knew anesthesia gave me bad nausea so they pumped me full of anti nausea medication during the surgery, during my hospital stay, and gave me some to go home with just in case. I didn't really have any other reactions otherwise. On another note... since I've been in the hospital and almost eating/drinking nothing for the last few days, I've gained almost 3 pounds since I went in for my surgery. Do you guys think that this is from all of the IVs they pushed into my body, or just overall inflammation that will be going away? I hate seeing a higher number than when I went in, haha. -

My nursing team wouldn't allow me to even think about touching apple juice... I think it has a ton of sugar in it. The only juice they allowed was diet cranberry juice -

@@JLT1971 congrats on your surgery, how do you feel 1 month out? I'm feeling pretty good not even 24 hours from my surgery since they had to push the time back a bit. Yesterday was just ice chips, today I'm onto my 60 ml/hr of water as tolerated and even more walking than yesterday. I'm not regretting this at all even though I'm sore still

Arianna0228 replied to smrogg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everybody, my surgery went well. I've just been dozing in and out for awhile that I haven't been on here yet. And now that I'm up I'm going to start walking around here soon. @@smrogg the reason they probably haven't taken the catheter out yet is because they want to make sure the anesthesia is out of your system which can take awhile. One of the things it likes to do is slam shut orfices, the first it usually does and lasts the longest is on your uretha. So instead of taking it out and possibly having to put a catheter back in they like to be on the safe side. -

I've cheated a couple of times, but other than that it has been good. And since I started the diet I've lost about 10 pounds. I think the diet will be easier once you feel full after only a couple of bites -

Yeah, I'm starting to freak out a little bit. Haha, it's starting to get so real. I had the calls from the hospital today one to confirm my check in and surgery times, the other to ask questions fir the anesthesiologist. I've been packing today too since I live in boise id, but having my surgery up in wa. I have to drive up on sunday, and have an 850 check in time, with a 1050 surgery time. -
One of the things my doctor told me is that people that are tired because of sleep apnea usually try to make excuses. Like I always said I was tired because I was busy. I work full time and go to school full time for nursing. Doing the same stuff with the machine I have a lot more energy, it is crazy.
