  1. I had surgery yesterday! I'm so excited to start my new life. At my heaviest I was 358 pounds and right now, due to the pre-op fasting I now weigh 340. I'm 34 years old, 6'1" tall, and have set my goal weight at 200. I'm very sore today as the doctor also repaired a hiatal hernia, but the pain medication is helping. I read another post on here that someone is able to eat fast-food chicken sandwiches and Pasta. My doctor told me to avoid those high starch foods. I'm looking at this as a tool for long-term weight loss and not something that will allow me to eat whatever I want in smaller portions. Am I wrong in my thinking process? :-)
  2. Hi All, This is my second posting and I am scheduled for surgery on June 24th (this coming Wednesday!). I received a call from m y surgeons office this morning that "my pre-op testing EKG showed some discrepancies" and my doctor wants me to see a cardiologist for clearance. I see the cardiologist on Monday at 3:00. I am not officially freakin. I can't imagine what could be wrong and I am anxious that I won't receive the clearance. I am 34 years old and in general good health. I do have some co-morbitites but they are medically managed. Did anyone else encounter this? Heart disease runs in my family but no one my age has ever exhibited symptoms so young. Matt

    Pre op blues!

Hi All, This is my first post. I have surgery on June 24th and I can't wait! However, I am really struggling with the fasting diet. My doctor has me drinking nothing but Protein shakes. He said if I "want something to chew on" I can have a boiled egg or lunch meat turkey and ham. Sometimes I get so hungry that I start shaking and get tunnel vision. I had a poached egg and two pieces of Canadian bacon for dinner and earlier I had a low-fat cheddar cheese stick. I feel like I cheated but I thought I was going to pass out from hunger. Do I just lack the will power or something? I'm at a loss...
