I am getting so bored with the soft food!! There is only so much applesauce, scrambled eggs, tuna fish, mashed potatos, pudding, Jell-o, yogurt and grits a person can eat!!! I know, I know...there are probably a variety of things to eat but right now I am in the process of moving offices and I guess I am doing ok...just need some fresh ideas to kind of liven up my menu!!! Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't had my first fill yet either...does that make a difference? I did read one thread that talked about eating McDonald's and I have to admit that I had their fish sandwich and I took off the bun and ate it slow and it went down pretty well...missed the fries but had some Jell-o instead!

It is really weird...at times I can eat and not feel that full and other times I fell like if I have another bite I am going to explode. When people say that they can only have 2-3 tablespoons it is the total opposite of me. I can have a whole package of grits with a scrambled egg and be full. Although before that I could have double that! LOL...I guess I am downsizing! It has been 19 days since I had my surgery and I really feel like I never had the surgery physically...scars are minimal, bruising is gone and soreness is gone. I get the munchies and I have a jello w/fat-free whipped cream or a applesauce or sugar-free popsicle. And when I get that full feeling I stop.

Hurricane Rita Evacuee and newly banded! Oh Lord!
Kathy473 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know it was a situation I had no control of...mother nature and all, but I think I survived it, ok. If anyone watched the news then you saw footage of the traffic. Well, Funyuns were my lil' snack of choice and believe me they can get very runny and mushy in your mouth...very easy to swallow. I didn't put any thought into bringing a "mushy" snack with me in the front of the truck because I packed it in the back of the truck to take to the hotel...duh. And then we stayed at a resort in The Woodlands (north of Houston) and they were so awesome to everyone that was there because they had to evacuate since they lived down by Galveston in Rita's path. The resort served complementary buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner...WOW!!! Breakfast was fine...scrambled eggs, grits and the like...lunch was mashed potatos, steamed veggies and corn-meal breaded fish with tartar sauce...dinner was salmon with lobster sauce and more veggies...and the desserts...OH MY GOD!!! I haven't seen a spread like that ever! Cakes, cookies, pies, brownies...it was a nightmare...but I did find a strawberry-banana pudding that was awesome and very soft! And they did have soups too. So I guess I did ok with it all and I stuck to my water. Can't say that I was able to count the calorie intake but was able to eat smaller portions and enjoy it. It threw my parents though. I haven't gone to eat with them since I had my surgery and they could not believe that I couldn't drink anything for 30 minutes. I am getting used to it but they aren't yet. Sorry to rant so much but I wanted to share my experience as an evacuee of Hurricane Rita and being newly banded! I am sure there were more than just me (bandsters) but I wanted to share my story. -
OOOPS! I did something and wonder if anyone else has!

UH OH! I am in the process of moving offices and I was at my new office checking it out and without even thinking about it, having my mind elsewhere....I swallowed my gum. Has anyone else done this? And I think I learned my lesson not to chew gum anymore! It didn't hurt or anything but I did it and it really bothered me. So, if anyone has done this or knows someone that is banded and goofed like me...let me know how everything worked out! Thanks! -

Thanks for the replies...It makes me feel better. I just had some soup and it went down ok...but believe me, I will know better next time NOT to swallow the gum...maybe I will just keep more aware of the fact that it is there!! I felt like a goof for doing it but anyone who knows me will probably expect little goofs like that from me! Oh well! LOL -
I am feeling very guilty over what I had for lunch today and I need to know if I am just being a worry-wort! I had a baked potato with butter and sour cream and I tolerated most of it pretty well. I stopped when I felt like I was full and I didn't drink anything with it. I think my problem is that it was a "baked potato" and I associate that with "bad and fattening foods". So should I feel guilty for eating it or should I just get on with the rest of my work day and forget about it?!

Hope that all went well with your surgery! Can't wait to hear of your progress!

I was banded on 09-07-05 and I am from Santa Fe, TX. I used Dr. Spivak in Houston and absolutely love him! Does anyone know of support groups in the area?

How long before you figure out the difference between hunger and fullness?
Kathy473 posted a topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I was banded on 09-07-05. I was on a liquid diet for 2 days and now I can have soft foods. Besides the fact that I can't really figure out what to eat, I am having a hard time figuring out the difference between hunger and fullness. I do not want to make myself sick but I also want to get in enough. Any suggestions? -

Jack...Well, my surgeon told me to follow his diet on his website and not to go by the diet in the pamphlets that they hand out at the surgicenter. I thought it was kind of early to go to soft foods but I trust him. I have never felt so comfortable with a doctor before in my life. He is very to-the-point and very comforting plus his accomplishments are fantastic. I had my surgery 3 days ago and I was able to go out today with friends and then I went out for lunch and that was kind of easy. I had tomato-basil soup, some mashed potatos and very soft carrots. I ate until I thought I was full (did not want to over do it) and then drank some iced tea about 30 minutes later and I felt fine. So I hope I am doing this right. But I think I will call the office on Monday and talk to them and see what they say. -
LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

My doctor, Dr. Spivak in Houston, Tx, only had me on a liquid diet for the first 48 hours and then I can have soft foods for 3-4 weeks and then regular meals from then on after that. I am still trying to figure out which is the hunger and the fullness feelings. But I am having trouble figuring out what to eat. The only thing that has been hard is not getting to drink while eating. I hate having to wait but it will be worth it in the end. -
Hello everyone! I am new to the site too. I just had my band put in on 09-07-05. I only had to be on the liquid diet for 2 days and about to start soft food! My surgeon is Dr. Hadar Spivak of Houston, TX. So far, so good.
