Newly post op blues

I am also 9 days post op now and finally feeling pretty good again. I was swollen like a beach ball until last night. This morning it finally came down significantly! Hooray! I am also no longer having the spasms. Hang in there it really does get better. This has definitely been a tougher recovery than I anticipated. However, I am still glad I chose this and am excited to have my new tool helping me change my life! -
I got my band last Thursday and thought I would rebound as quickly as I did after having my gall bladder removed. Boy, was I wrong. I went back to work Tuesday. Also worked yesterday that involved ten hours of driving. I was sure to get out of the car and walk every hour. Unfortunately, I pushed to hard and am back home today with a belly blown up like a beach ball. I plan to fully recover before I try that again. I'm still glad I had it done...I just want this recovery mess over with. We will all get there.

Plus, they are not happening as frequently. Hallelujah! They are esophageal spasms. They called me in a script for Hyoscyamine. -

I called my surgeons office about it today. They said they happen in one out of every ten patients during recovery and can last a couple weeks. They called me in a script that has helped tremendously. I still know they're happening but the associated pain is gone. -

Newly post op blues

I am having those same pains. I am waiting for surgeons office to open and ask them about it. But, in the meantime I started taking chewable pepto visual and that has seem to mute the pain associated with those, what I'm calling them, spasms. I still know they are happening but does not hurt as much. I haven't thrown up since the first day. But, have been really close on many occasions. Hang in there, I hear it gets better. I HOPE it gets better!! -

I just had mine on June 11th and am going through the same thing. I can hardly get water down and when I do I get a spasm that hurts. Not to mention the awful gas build up. I'm sure it is all part of the healing process, I just want to get past this part. I will be interested to hear what others have to say about it. When will we start feeling better?
