FDA finally approves AspireAssist
Snowbutterfly replied to JennyJennJen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too like the fact that with the Aspire, it can be removed. There are so many long term complications with RNY and sleeve. Everyone's journey is different. I would go for this in a heartbeat. I've lost 40 lbs on my own, eat no sugar or oil, no dairy, bread or or meat. I am currently in an emotional eating group, weigh 190lbs. I have done the work, and am getting a sleeve because the Aspire is not available here yet. -
I would like to know your experience on how much pain the surgery is. I have had my gallbladder out and 2 C-sections. Can anyone compare the pain you had with a sleeve or bypass compared to either a C-section or a gallbladder removal? It would be good to put it into perspective. Thanks!

In the time I have had to wait to get surgery, I have lost weight and am now 210 pounds. After decades of trying different diets, starting this past January, I have finally found a sustainable way of eating where I lose weight. Now, I have waited 3 years in line for surgery, and I will get a date in the next few weeks. I don't want to give up my place in line, but I don't want to have surgery if I can lose weight on my own. I don't know what to do.. Why did I wait 3 years? Because of public health care, everyone takes a number. If I walk away? I will have to go to the back of the line again. Type of surgery - I am pursuing a gastric bypass. Starting weight - 250 lbs Satisfied after a meal? Yes. I'm on the line now where if I lose any more weight, I don't qualify for the surgery. I started this journey because my liver has NAFLD, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My last liver test came out within the normal scale. So I have changed my lifestyle enough for it to have a positive impact on my health. Now, I am questioning if continuing is me just wanting more, when I should be happy. Has anyone here been around 200lbs before surgery? What was your journey like?

Anyone else use an Instant Pot or other electric pressure cooker?
Snowbutterfly replied to 2goldengirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have an instant pot and it is the best! I have used it at least twice a day since I bought it. Look up Chef AJ - her cooking is all about weight loss and using the instant pot. I even got my sister to buy one, she lives in the UK, and she loves hers too.. -

No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!
Snowbutterfly replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh the craziness I grew up with! My mom did not cook for me. She would ask me Do you want McDonalds, Dairy Queen or KFC to eat? Everyday. Yes. Everyday. lunch was out of a can or a box. Maybe I should be angry with her - filling me with fake food and chemicals. I was seeing a therapist and he said that he was surprised that I was not angry at her. Sadly, it is because she treated me the best out of everyone in my family. I now have children of my own. I cook real food for them. They are beautiful with no weight issues, like I had at their age. I wonder why I was given the burden of being obese since the age of 3. I deserve better. -
