    So weak after surgery

I was sleeved 6/22 as well! I'm not feeling too weak but did have major pain on Wednesday which subsided today. I feel good, getting most Protein in, some chicken broth, and Water I am still trying. Walking fine, still sore getting up and down. I get some real hunger pains, do you? I weigh the same as I did day of surgery so I'm guessing I still have a bit of fluid retention going on, hopefully idk. I haven't had any pain at all..... Got nauseous last night while brushing my teeth, of all things. Still can't get all my protein in, nothing tastes good. The chewable B Complex Vitamin that I have to take is horrible......I gained exactly 10 pounds of fluid in the hospital, today is Day 4 and I've lost that 10 pounds plus another one or two..... so it will go away.
  2. I've had no nausea and haven't vomited at all. But from reading these posts on here, seems like that's not the norm....They gave me nausea and pain meds the entire time i was there thru my IV
  3. Overall it went well....... during the pre-op diet, I lost 10 pounds and was very pleased. During the 2 days in the hospital, I gained 10 pounds. I just got home and weighed, back up to my staring weight. Grrrrrrrrr.. I know it's all Fluid and will come off, but I'm also having a hard time tinkling.
  4. Well, Nell.... how did it go? I just got home from the hospital.... overall, it went well. When I woke up after surgery my tummy felt like a 60 pound child was sitting on it. But once I got on Pain Meds, that cleared right up. I feel like my tummy just overdid it at the gym. I had trouble tinkling, they wouldn't release me until I could show I could tinkle....After many tries, I finally turned on the shower and voila, it came out and they let me go. Now, all I want to do is sleep. And sleep.
  5. I planned out my last meals so carefully..... Wanted chicken Alfredo, so I called in an order and went to pick it up. Got home and it was the wrong thing....great. Then, my brother wanted to take me out for the very last meal on Sunday night (started pre-op diet the next AM) and all I wanted was the biggest and highest calorie, hot fudge yummy dessert. So he took me to his favorite place (I wasn't in my home town) and kept raving about this one chocolate Revenge dessert...... ordered it and they had changed the recipe. It was barely mediocre. Guess that's the food Gods getting revenge on me!!!
  6. We're getting sleeved on the same day..... we'll need to keep in touch. I'm the exact opposite. The Pre-op has been a breeze for me, I've been calm and just doing exactly what I've been told to do. Then this morning, I woke up and couldn't stop crying for the longest time and feeling very anxious, for the first time! I've tried to derail the emotions by cleaning my house, doing laundry, washing sheets, doing dishes, etc so that when I get home on Tuesday I can just concentrate on healing! Best of luck to both of us! Talk to you soon Natalie
  7. Well, it's almost here. Tomorrow is my surgery day. I'm hoping and praying that it goes well.... the pre-op diet has been a breeze for me so far, other than a little diarrhea I'm doing great. Let's hope that the surgery and recovery (and weight loss ) goes as smoothly. My only fear: That I'll be that one in a million patient who does everything right, and doesn't lose weight. Any final words of wisdom from the veterans will be greatly appreciated!!
  8. My surgery is Monday..... For the first month or two until I'm on more solid foods, I'll probably not do too many social events. In fact, some girls in my small circle of support are helping me with that. For instance, 7/2 is a friend's birthday, normally we would have a get-together at a local restaurant with about 15 people, all eating and drinking. But since she knew I couldn't come, or it would raise questions, she suggested we do the Comedy Club instead. That way, it won't be as noticeable that I'm not eating/drinking. As for questions about my weight loss..... I'm eating a lot less/healthier and exercising more. Which is the truth!
  9. I started out only telling my BFF, since I was required to have a responsible adult with me for the Upper Endoscopy to drive me home. I ended up telling 3 very close friends and my immediate family only. I need some support, although I'm not ready to make it common knowledge. Luckily, I have to get my gall bladder removed at the same time I do the Sleeve, so anyone else that needs to know why I'm in the hospital or can't work, they think it's the gall bladder surgery. The few people I did tell about the Sleeve, I've told them that mums the word. If anyone else finds out about it, I want it to be because I made the decision to tell them..... it's not up to them to tell everyone or gossip about it. Since you will find that some support is good, only tell those that you want to tell..... it's your decision

    Need more variety!

It's the 2 week pre-op diet designed to reduce your liver..... supposedly the surgeon has to lift your liver and move it to the side to do the sleeve, so if it's "fatty" then it can cause issues. They put you on a pre-op diet of Protein shakes to get your body into Ketosis so your liver is leaner and easier to manage during surgery

    Need more variety!

I am in the Liver Reduction portion of the plan, so I'm drinking 5 Protein shakes a day. What I do is buy Jello sugar free / Fat Free pudding mix flavors to mix it up some. I have Vanilla Bariatric Advantage shake mix, Water, then add a couple of ice cubes, then a teaspoon of the Jello mix (they have chocolate, lemon, butterscotch, cheesecake, white chocolate, etc). That little teaspoon really changes the flavor of the shake and keeps it from being so boring.....works for me at least!! Just be sure to buy the sugar free/ fat free version!

    Surgery with BMI of 35

Yes..... I am a BMI of 35 with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. On meds for both.... Then, last fall my doctor said my A1C was a little high so they put me on Metformin. I couldn't tolerate it well, so i stopped taking it. When I had my initial consultation my surgeon said to continue filling ALL 3 prescriptions until I'm approved for surgery. I'm with BCBS of NC and got approved in 3 days. I think it was a shock to all of us, including my surgeon. I really thought I would be turned down. I even called BCBS myself to make sure that all is a "go", because surgery is on Monday 6/22
  13. I feel your pain.... my surgery is this coming Monday 6/22 and I'm on the Liver Reduction Diet as well. My headache came from caffeine withdrawal, no more coffee and no more Diet Coke. On my diet, I had: - Week 1: 2 Protein shakes and a sensible meal - Week 2: 5 Protein Shakes a day.......no food I'm on Day 3 of Week 2. Believe me, it does get better. Not that any of this is easy.... My stomach growls nonstop, you can hear it across the room. I'm very weak, barely any energy to do anything. And the worst part, liquid in means liquid out, usually without warning that it's coming, LOL. I've been lucky that the Liquid Out part has come while I'm at home and not out in public!! Hang in there!!

    BMI 31-32

I'm so glad I found this thread.... I've related to everything that is said here. I went to the initial consultation in April and was only a BMI of 34, with High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol, thrown in with a Pre-diabetic kicker. The surgeon said he wasn't going to log my weight that day, that I needed to hit every buffet in town and come back in 2 weeks. I obliged, then came back and my BMI was right at 35. After gnawing on my nails for a month during all the pre-op testing, I got insurance approval. Surgery is set for a week from tomorrow...6/22. I'm on the pre-op diet now, a little hungry but manageable. Cutting out coffee and Diet Coke has been a struggle also, but also manageable. We low-BMIers need to stick together and help each other along. Will be interested to hear your progress. I'm scared to death I'll be the only person in history that can't lose weight with the Sleeve.

    June Sleevers!

I'm scheduled for June 22..... Once I got insurance approval I had 2 days to start the Liver Reduction diet. The first 3 -4 days were rough, I realized that "Liquid in means liquid out", if you get my drift. Getting very nervous and excited at the same time.
