    Sleeved today. 6/18

yea the nurse tried to tell me stop taking pain meds. Like for what if I in pain I need them. So far I feel pretty ok tho. Biggest thing right now is that I can't pee even tho I have that feeling. Work on going pee... you don't want to get a catheter. I was all worried about that and thought they automatically gave one and glad they only do it if you can't go. I went as soon as i got to my room

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

WOW... crazy your surgeon has gotten away with saying those things. Its a shame really. I wanted to add that I'm only 8 days post op and still on liquids but one thing my weight loss center taught me was how to calculate your Protein intake. Take your weight X 0.3 so for my current weight of 264 x 0.3 = 79 grams of protein per day for me.
  3. 7 days post op for me and another 7 days of liquids before I can move to soft foods. I am so ready for them now. I always feel hungry and hope that hunger goes away with the soft foods. I'm glad this topic was started... makes me feel a little more normal

    Mother's Day Weekend

    From the album: Pre Surgery

This is a picture of me, my mom and my sister about a month before my sleeve surgery and a couple weeks after my shoulder surgery. I had a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum. They came to visit me over Mother's Day weekend. I only wanted to wait a couple weeks after my shoulder was done before getting my sleeve done... HA HA glad I waited a full 6 weeks after the shoulder. And I probably should have waited a couple more since the sling came off just the day before sleeve surgery. It was still pretty sore. But, I could not put my life on hold anymore. 7 days post op as of this posting and watching the weight come off and feeling pretty good.

    Salem/Portland Oregon sleevers?

@@Hengirl, I worry about failure too, so i'm trying to follow the Dr. Patterson's plan to a T. Great job resisting the fries! The surgery center is nice. Both Dr Patterson and her PA Lisa saw me the morning of surgery and the morning after. I only had to stay 1 night and was released pretty early. They won't let you go until you can can get in and out of bed on your own, you can pee, and you can keep down 1 oz of fluids every 15 min for 2 hours. Make sure to get up and walk as soon as you can. My only complaint was they woke me up several times during the night. Just doing their job I suppose The caramel Protein shake was better than the vanilla. As far as the surgery goes, expect your abs to be super sore for at least 5 days. My abs are now just a little sore like i did a few too many crunches. My 5th day was probably my worst day due to lack of calories. Its hard keeping up on all fluids, protein, and calories when you can only take a sip at a time. I added in gatorade G2 in place of Water on the 5th day and this helped a lot. Currently just hanging out at home waiting for my first post op on 7/2. Are you in Portland? I'm out in Hillsboro.

    Salem/Portland Oregon sleevers?

I'm in the Portland area and just had my sleeve done on June 10th by Dr. Patterson. I only had to do 1 day of liquids pre surgery. I don't think I could have much more of that. I'm on liquids now for one more week then on to purees. Woo hooo I can't wait for something with a little substance. ????
  8. 3 Days post op I'm at 270, started program 2/6/15 at 284, ended up having to have shoulder surgery before I could have my sleeve done, day of surgery I was at 274.5.
  9. I was given Protein shakes in the hospital as approved by my surgeon. My plan goes like this: 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks puree, then i can start introducing solid foods. I was also advised to take my medicine as long as its smaller than a pencil eraser... which reminds me... i need to take my Vitamins today.
  10. Hi, i'm 3 days post op and was only in the hospital overnight. As soon as i got home i took a laxative every day i was on narcotic pain meds as recommended by my surgeon. This helped moved my intestinal tract along. I am already off the narcotics and only taking liquid tylenol and advil as needed for pain (also recommended by my surgeon). If you haven't tried a laxative yet i recommend that you do. Good Luck, Tracy
