No drain for me. I've read that some surgeons do the drain and others don't. Sorry, i can't help with the showering question.

I also had reflux before surgery and during surgery my hernia was repaired. The surgeon always prescribes 3 months of omeprazole to her sleeve patients. At 3 months she says to stop the omeprazole and see how you do. Some people need it forever and some don't. i'm hoping i won't need it again but i have a few more weeks to go before my 3 month mark. I'll update then.

Will we ever be able to take vitamins and calcium that we can swallow?
zonetracy replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 3 week post op visit with my surgeon she said i can start taking full size pills, just don't go taking a handful all at once. -
How long was hospital stay?
zonetracy replied to tera1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed just one night which is the minimum for sleeve patients with my surgeon and was released when the doc was making her rounds first thing in the morning. Had to wait till paperwork was done and left the hospital around 10:00. -
Terrified: Eating too much 3 1/2 week out?
zonetracy replied to Nyelaah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe you just had a hungry day. I just hit 2 months post op and regularly get just over 800 calories per day and it was hard to do that when my NUT first recommended it a few weeks back. She said I should strive for 800-1000 per day. -
How much weight loss first 3wks
zonetracy replied to baylorbears281's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 20 pounds in the first 3 weeks post op then had a 10 day stall. So weeks 3 and 4 were a 20 pound loss -
My surgeons office said i could get in the Water when the incisions are healed and there is no scab left. Not sure about the roller coasters though. Sorry

The Truth About B12?
zonetracy replied to FocusOnMeNow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon is the one who advised me to get the sublingual B12 and I do. I didn't think to ask why though. (and i'm usually full of questions) I will ask at my next follow up visit in August. -
Yes, it will get better. The pain with breathing is probably the gas they filled your abdomen with... to help this walk, walk walk. Also be sure to try and get as much fluids and Protein in as you can so you don't dehydrate and can get on with the healing process. You will make it through

I'm 7 weeks post op today and started solids last week and i have not gotten sick or nauseous at all. I think my surgeon made me a stomach of steel! Keep monitoring your Protein so you get enough and you know where you're at for your daily intake.

Has anyone been having sleeping problems since surgery?
zonetracy replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually sleep better through the night since surgery since I no longer have to get up to use the restroom 2-3 times. I can get a good 6-7 hours in before needing the bathroom. I was also going to mention like @@BloomingLotus to try taking your Vitamins earlier in the day. I have also read that late day exercising can cause insomnia in some people. Maybe try that earlier in the day too. Good Luck I hope you find some relief. -
@@choosehope i buy the chocolate one here - http://healthyplanetnutrition.com/ - 100% natural and actually sweetened with Stevia, not Splenda. When I first tried it i found it at Whole Foods in Oregon but they stopped carrying it so now i order it online. I have to say I'm really picky about Protein drinks and this is the best tasting one out there. The PA at my surgery center said to find a Protein Drink you like because you will be drinking it a lot so i tried a bunch before my surgery. Good luck finding one you like.

Surgery in less than ten hours and I can't sleep!
zonetracy replied to my_new_lifetime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its not as scary as it seems. Once you get to the hospital things move along at a steady pace so you don't have time to be scared. You'll do great! -
I don't eat artificial sweeteners so during the liquid phase for me I lived on my chocolate Protein powder which has stevia, Soups, yogurt, v8 juice, Water and a couple days of gatorade when i wasn't able to get enough calories. It was a rough couple of weeks especially the 2nd week but once i got my routine down it wasn't bad. A variety of soups helped.

How to approach the idea of VSG with my PCP?
zonetracy replied to Mary Ann H's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure about your particular insurance but with mine i did not actually have to get clearance from my PCP, however I did tell her i was planning on getting it done. I just went to the surgery center here in Oregon and they did all the authorizations and referred me to the places i needed referrals for (like cardio for example). @@kbingo sounds like you might want to shop for a new PCP if they aren't on board with your goals. Good luck everyone -
I was sleeved 6/10/15 and have lost 26 pounds since surgery day (35 pounds lost including presurgery loss). I had a 3 week stall that lasted about 10 days. Now it seems to be coming off a bit slower. I talked to my nutritionist just last Thursday and she said I should try getting my calorie intake up to about 800-1000 calories a day and this will help with the stalls. I was only getting 550-650 before. I'm trying to get closer to that 800 mark but its hard with getting enough Protein and fluids too.

I take 1000 mcg under the tongue daily at surgeons recommendation.

Driving after surgery
zonetracy replied to Jim in Utah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe as long as you're not on narcotics you can drive. Check with your surgeon. I was driving within 2-3 days after surgery. -
I have never had a problem with my gallbladder before surgery and so far it seems to be working fine. My surgeon gives everyone with a gallbladder a daily prescription for 500mg Ursodiol to help keep their gallbladders. I have to take it for a year. Someone i work with had the lap band probably 5 years ago now and she did the same thing for a year after her surgery and she still has her gallbladder. I hope it works for me too.

Sleeved June10th 2015 and STILL at a stall!
zonetracy replied to AmberWarstler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was also sleeved June 10th and had a stall that started just after week 3 lasted 9-10 days. I just started losing again earlier this week. I was reading more about stalls here on the boards and started upping my Water intake. It was @@Rogofulm who posted this - http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php - about why you need lots of water when losing weight. It helped me a lot. You will make it through, try not to worry too much or feel bad during the stall. -
You might start looking now so you are ready to go if you need one. Good Luck with all of that!

Looks like you're quite a ways from Oregon but my surgeon didn't require one. lol I'm feeling really good. Its a little tough to get in all my Protein and my Water but i try. My stomach muscles were the most painful and what was like i did way too many sit-ups for about 5 days. I still did things... it was just a little difficult to go from sitting to standing and vice versa. Do you have a surgery date yet?

How do I know the feeling I get when drinking, eating broth or sf Popsicles
zonetracy replied to halfpintvsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first week post op I felt like an air bubble kept getting trapped in my esophagus. I blamed in on my hernia repair. And, i gurgle quite a bit more now but no pain or nausea for me just that over full feeling if i take one bite too many. I'm 5 weeks post op now. -
Yes, i'm 5 weeks post op today
