Hey! I wasn't happy at all about having to have the port revision... but it was really simple. It's just like any other surgery as in no solid foods, you're knocked out...etc. However, as soon as I woke up I was fine and ready to go home. You're a little sore but I was back at work the next day... it's nothing like the first surgery. The only part I hated was I ended up paying five hundred dollars. My insurance covered most as the revision surgery was $3500.00 It's more of an annoyance than anything, because you feel like it's a setback. Usually the doctor will do a fill during the revision also. Hope this helps!!

Also try Isopure. It's expensive but really good. Plus each bottle has 40 grams of protein in it!

I used to always drink beer and have found that I can't anymore... I just feel too full and sick. My favorite now is Twisted Tea, it's soooo good. Also I will get a mixed drink with lots of ice so it goes flat. I drink Red Bull and Vodka a lot now, just make sure to drink the Sugar Free kind so it's only ten calories instead of a hundred and ten!

I love South Beach and Lean Cuisine because they are the perfect amount of food and are filled with all the right nutrients. The pizzas are good and so are the Lean Cusine ones... they aren't too doughy. I also highly recommend Isopure water from GNC. It tastes good and each bottle has 40 grams of protein... very pricy but worth it.

Hello Blund I was banded on Dec. 7 2007. I live in the UP so it is quite a drive for me so i probably wouldn't attend any meetings.

Hi! I was also banded through Grand Traverse with Dr. Slikkers. I love their office. I also had Dr. Ralph Ford (the doctor out on Old Mission Peninsula) and thought he was great. I actually just had to go back to Munson yesterday because I had a flipped port and it was simple, didn't hurt and was done quickly.

Hey Christine8 I just found out yesterday that my port was turned around and am having surgery tomorrow so it was very fast. I was told my insurance would cover it.

Thanks for the info everybody! I am having surgery tomorrow for a flipped port and was real nervous about it until I read this thread. Hopefully I dont' have any more problems.

I went for a fill yesterday and also found out that my port was flipped. I am having surgery to fix it tomorrow, the doctor said it would only take about an hour. I've only had my band for two months so this is kind of annoying, I am hoping not to expect more problems but who knows. Has anybody else had problems like this?

i had the same feeling and it turns out my port has flipped! now i have to have surgery again to correct it.

South Beach Diet meals are really great. My nutitionist recommended them and they taste really good, plus they all have around 25 grams of protein.

I had my surgery on Dec. 7th with Dr. Slikkers. I don't get a fill until Jan. 24th so I've only lost 13# total. Right now I feel like there's no restriction.

One thing I tried that's good: soymilk, ice, chocolate unjury, flaxseed meal, and two tablespoons creamy peanut butter. It tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup. Plus the peanut butter adds more protein.

Has anybody been to Dr. Slikkers in Traverse City? That is who I go to and I am very happy so far.
