4 weeks out, pain in lower abdomen
smb1966 replied to krystalgenie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I believe it comes from the stitch that is placed in the muscle to secure the stomach. My Dr. and all information that I received from his office describes this as the only discomfort that you should have but will subside after a few weeks. I am 1 week out today and am experiencing it now. If you are worried or it is unbearable call your Dr's office better safe than sorry. -
This is exactly the way I was handled. During surgery and again the following morning with a barium swallow test in xray.

Am I too late to get in on the challange?

Why do I want to call my husband a pig
smb1966 replied to smb1966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It didn't amount to me actually saying anything to him I called my daughter and she bought over the silly popsicles it was more the lack of consideration. In my case he knew I could not acquire them without his assistance. In yours I was probably just forgeting that the food plan in the house has been totally changed and he just responded his normal "sure, go ahead" without thinking. I can see my hubby doing the same thing. Btw we just had our 27th anniversary in June and we are both 48, so have spent our adult lives together so I think it's ok to get a little pissed about stuff from time to time. I'm glad that we are not the only couple that disagree and move on lol -

Well did she give you a reason to call her a pig? If so and you were as aggravated at her as I was at my husband you would have got the same reception that I would have. Right… Husband or Wife, being inconsiderate crosses all gender dude just sayin… . -

My post op guidlines are no driving for at least the first 7 days. Maybe it's the city inwhich I live is like the Indy 500 daily ???? -
Why would any responsible surgeon let a patient leave hospital without allowing adequate time to check for leaking? I am less than 1 week past sleeve surgery and I have to say that the most success you will have from this surgery depends on the experience of the surgeon and do yourself a favor and research your research. Just because a surgeon does this type of surgery doesn't mean he is an expert. We all just get so excited for something that we have longed for, for a long time but your approval for surgery is not based on the surgeon so choose wisely, your quality of life could depend on it.

Wow that is alot of nausea treatment. I was very fortunate because I haven't experienced it at all other then first waking from anesthesia but I never threw up. Where are you havung your surgery Radar? My stomach feels so bloated with just the Protein drink that if I drink Water too I can't get all the protein down. To be honest I haven't made it through the 48 ozs of liquid with or without the protein. It takes 20 ozs of protein drink to make my 90 grams, that leaves me 28 additional ozs of liquid to consume the closets I can get is about 28 ozs so when I add water im then not getting all my protein. Oh wait I am eating broth and Jello do that counts too so maybe I am doing better then I think. Just talking it through here helps! -

I mean I actually thought I was doing great. My biggest fear was that I would be nauseous everytime I attempted to drink but I haven't been. Do you think that I am having a rough time? I was thinking that so far it had been a breeze except for the bathroom thing. Can you share exactly how you get all your fluids in. Do you just continue taking drinks non stop through the day or what. I sit my cup down and then I forget until someone reminds me to drink. -

Surgery on Thursday Sept. 10th home on Friday. Back again on Saturday do to a skin staph infection at the large incision site got antibiotics and alls good. Today is day 4 and here are my experiences so far Not in unbearable pain at all like to use the pain meds for sleep because sleeping on my side is painful without them. I have honestly been sleeping too much but I am exhausted. I walk my waking hours and sip sip sip but im not able to get the full 48 ozs of liquid in and only about 66 of the required Protein. When I try to push the Protein Drink my stomach feels bloated and hurts like crazy. So I have been sticking to the 4-6 ozs per hour. My hubby says once I stay awake longer I will have the time to get them all in. Only issue so far was this morning when I had my first BM. It was a normal soft BM and not the least bit painful or hard to go. As soon as I started to relax and just let it happen I kbow TMI but we all have to be honest here, I thought I was going to die. My blood pressure dropped, I started sweating bullets became hot as fire and so week I had to call for help because I couldn't even hold my head up. Within 5 min it had subsided and I felt fine again. Pre surgery weight was 214.6 today I weigh 209.0. I am so thankful that I have had zero nauseousness or vomiting and I haven't tried to go over the recommendation for 4-6 ozs in an hr so no complications yet from over indulging. -
Be there at 9:30 scheduled for 11:30. I'm not nervous at all, now I'm concerned because I think maybe I should be. I have 25 and 21 yr old daughters they are business as usual but I think my 10 yr old son is scared. I don't know how to assure him that it okay. Any others have similar issues with younger children?

The best surgeon on Hampton Roads, Va is: Dr. Terracina
smb1966 replied to mswisdom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Moving this post current lol. Dr. Terracina will do my surgery on 9/10/15. Just to bring you up to date with current stats, he is at 4000 plus wls's todate. That is quite impressive in and of itself. If you are even considering surgery you need to visit his website and watch the videos. His voice alone is reassuring as you can hear his commitment to the cause of obesity. My PCP referred me to Dr. Terracina in 2009 but my insurance did not cover it. Finally in 2014 my husband was enrolled in a plan at a new job that did cover it. There was never any question of who was going to do it. My only call was Dr. Terracina's office and here I am after 12 months of insurance required NUT counseling and 13 months and 6 days after starting the journey (6 years after my initial weight loss seminar)I am ready to begin my healthy new lifestyle and start acting my youthful age of 49. -
I have told everyone I needed to. I have spent the last 10 years hiding in the back for pictures, policing my family's social activity for fear they would post a picture that would reveal how big I am, avoided family pics and reunions. I can't wait to stop hiding me again and if they are going to talk crap about me getting my health and life back imagine what they were saying about you/me before.

I am worried about not being able to firm up with exercise after I reach my goal. I have absolutely no desire to have "body contouring surgery.". I have spoke to many wls alums who say that the extra skin often can be as frustrating as being obese. My Dr. did say that with my age, health and the fact that I am at the lower BMI spectrum I should have good success through exercise. I would like to hear how other's have handled this. I am 48, 5'2" and 210 lbs. My surgery is scheduled for September 10th

Hi everyone, I am from Norfolk VA but my Doc, Anthony Terracina is in Newport News and I will be having my surgery there on September 10th. Looking to see if anyone knows where I can go to meetings preferably in Norfolk.

Hi everyone I have been viewing all the posts on here for a couple months. So after I was given my surgery date I thought it was a great time to jump in the conversations. I live in Hampton Roads Virginia and Dr Anthony Terracina will be doing my surgery. I will be 49 in December and am overjoyed with the possibilities of turning 50 with a healthier happier mind and body. At this point the only feeling I have is of excitement and almost a feeling of giddiness. I am actually starting to think that maybe I should feel scared or nervous or something other then excited. Idk what to think… .. I had to go through 12 months of counseling with a nurse as part of my Anthem BCBS insurance before the Dr could even submit for pre approval so I have been on this track a year and kinda feel like this was the reward. What do others think, has it just not hit me yet, is there anyone else who had to go through a long process that just prepared you without hesitation?
