    Pregnant after sleeve

Congrats!!!! That is a miracle. I had PCOS and my doctors said that a baby would be difficult because of my age, PCOS and obesity. My husband and I really just let it ride and decided to adopt a 4-legged baby after I was sleeved 6/2015. To our surprise, we were shocked with the news that we were pregnant just a couple of weeks ago with our first child at age 42. I have been struggling a LOT with extreme nausea and dizziness - lost 5 pounds over the past week and a half. The doctor said not to worry about it because a lot of women lose weight in the first trimester. I'm hoping that it improves over the next few weeks. I found Preggie Pop Candies and, ironically, milkshakes settle my stomach. I'm also able to take Tums/Rolaids and they help as well. I know that it's hard to enjoy when you're not feeling your best but things should improve soon.

pregnant at 44 after sleeve surgery

Wow. Congrats. I struggled with fertility issues for years. I was sleeved 6/15 (lost almost 100 pounds and gained back around 15) and was shocked a couple of weeks ago to find out that I was pregnant - currently 11wks4days. I'm 42 and this is my first child. I'm convinced the sleeve caused my weight loss and that helped tremendously. My hubby and I had given up on having kids. So, congratulations again!!!
  3. Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl. I'm embracing the stall and I'm going to occasionally enjoy m&m's (:-) @AvaFern. Thanks to all for the help! I thought I was having an overly sensitive moment.
  4. Thanks so much for the tips and responses. It has been so weird. I guess like Babbs mentioned, I've shocked my system but either way, I'm losing weight now so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.
  5. I had my surgery June 23rd of this year and started out doing very well - losing about a pound each day for the first month and a half (about 700 calories per day). My weight loss started slowing down and then stalling altogether for about a month which was VERY discouraging. I started doing a modified version of Atkins where I was trying to keep my carb intake under 75 grams per day (less than 1,100 calories per day as my nutritionist recommended I start eating more) as I had experienced success before surgery with Atkins. It seemed that I started losing some weight but then that slowed down until I stalled out about a month later. I got so discouraged that I stopped being as strict about tracking my food and the types of food that I was eating (maybe 1,500 - 2,000 calories per day). The strange thing is I started losing weight again. I'm down about 92 pounds from my HW as of this morning. I've been a bit confused about what's going on with my body and I'm not sure if anyone has experienced anything similar. I have no issues doing as my nutritionist and surgeon recommend but I'm really stumped about why I lose more weight when I eat more calories and more carbs. Any similar stories?
  6. I won't miss: sweating excessively for no reason (even in winter) not connecting my seatbelt on some planes because I'm too embarassed to ask for an extender (I know, very dangerous but I did it twice in the past) not shopping at (God bless them for being there for me) Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, Torrid and all of the other plus size stores shopping mostly online because there's more variety not wearing Spanx all the time thigh friction
  7. I lost 15 pre-op on the liquid diet and have lost 16 so far in 2 1/2 weeks.

    Constipation

I've had two awful bouts with this since surgery 6-23. I found that Miralax doesn't work unless you take it daily. If you're in a bad spot right now and need to make something happen, try a 10.5 ounce bottle of magnesium citrate. My husband introduced me to it and now I swear by it. I had a second bout after becoming less cautious and I did the magnesium citrate (sipping it along with another 8 ounces of water) along with three Dulcolax tabs. Yes, I felt even more bloated and awful for a while but it got better and within about 3 hours, it worked. Now, I'm taking two Dulcolax tabs each day and trying to drink a few sips of magnesium citrate every other day. I prefer to do that than go through what I went through before.
  9. On a one week pre-op liquid only diet. I lost 15 pounds.
  10. Unable to urinate after being discharged and had to go to the ER. Kept a catheter in for a week afterwards and looking forward to it coming out this Wednesday. Otherwise, it hasn't been bad.

    Too Pooped to Post!

Thanks so much. I really needed to hear that. I'm hopeful that relief is around the corner so hopefully I'll be able to get around better pretty soon. Thanks so much to all for the support. My husband is awesome but there's nothing like hearing from folks who have been down the path.

    Too Pooped to Post!

Surgery was yesterday and I felt great (other than having to urinate but couldn't and had to be cath'd). Today, I feel pretty awful. Difficult to swallow anything and feeling weird discomfort all over my torso (from the CO2 and incisions). I'm sure it will improve over time but today I'm feeling pretty low...
  13. I started two days early on my 7 day liquid diet (was trying to get ahead and get my body used to the new diet during the weekend) and the first two days weren't that bad. I did have an awful headache for the first couple of days and urinated A LOT. It has gotten better although I still have waves of hunger (especially if I get bored and start thinking about it). I felt awful yesterday after a long day of meetings and called my NUT desperately wanting her to let me chew on some real food - broccoli, cheese, fruit, whatever - and she told me no. She told me that I could freeze my shake into smaller ice cubes and eat it like a popsicle or I could have more broth/bouillon to curb the hunger. After she took away the option and my husband told me to suck it up, I felt better after a while. Good luck and know that you're not alone.

    June Sleevers!

June 23rd for me. Was supposed to start my liquid diet (all shakes, diet sodas, sugar free popsicles and broth) on 6-15 but decided to start yesterday so I wouldn't have to think about work and the new diet at the same time. I got a bit weak yesterday afternoon but it hasn't been bad at all. Getting rid of my Water (about 5 pounds so far) has been a bit irritating going to the 'tinkler' so often but otherwise, I'm rather surprised that I haven't been hungry. I'll start on Clear Liquids on the 22nd and can drink up to 5 AM on the day of surgery. Hubby's on the liquid diet also.
