I had my surgery in September 05 from Dr Watkins at NWWLS. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They are wonderful, great support online and group. Great staff, edcation, alwasy avaliable for questions. I was to tight a few months ago, and had a barium right at the office, things were taken care of very fast. I started at 347 and im 273 now. I was a size 28 and im sitting in a size 16today. My mom was very nervous, but she was with me 100% and has only been the best support. Your mom will be worried, but have her go with you to support and meetings. Best of luck, you will be very happy wishing you did it earlier Vicky

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
ickytazz replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was Banded September 9, 2005 I can not be more happy. my weight before surgery and before i stopped the nasty diet coke was 347. I have had several small fills, my last was 0.25cc on 3.2.06 and it kicked in the last few days. I have lost 7 pounds in less then a week. Last weekend i had had it, my clothing looked like i was a slob, I went out and purchased a new pair of jeans, i had been in my sameold sameold 24-26 gloria vanderbelts. Well i got a size 20 and they are a bit loose. I know many say dont go and get new clothing, but OMG let me just say this, spend a bit on some clothing so you can see your weight loss. I got some 10.00 t-shirts at wallyworld but spent 30.00 on jeans at Macy's. IT WAS WAY WORTH IT!!!! Vicky -
Feeling a Little Down....I Just Dont Understand
ickytazz replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you have lost weight and other weight has shifted. Many times your posture and gait also changes which can cause knee, ankle and back pain. Look at how you walk, look at your feet and shoes. You might need some new shoes with more arch support. If your center of gravity is off it will put stress on your joints, good shoes and support help center you back up. If you are in the same shoes as when you first started they no longer fit you the same, believe it or not they dont. Start stretching, for the foot pain put a hand towel on the floor flat curl your toes under and bunch the towel under your foot with only your toes. Good luck, Vicky -
I have pcos but not IR, I have lost almost 50pounds in less then 4 months. The big thing you will have to watch is your insulin level, as you loose weight you will need less and less drugs to keep your level in line. Not a bad thing to watch, soon you will not need the pills.

ickytazz replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you on mushies now? if so get some canned turkey, mix with mayo, eat with cranberries and a bit of mashed spuds. Put some sourcream on the mashed spuds, you can also melt some cheese on them.Vickyp> -

Cancel banding because of Migraines?
ickytazz replied to Tootarts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Talk to your doctor about the scopolomine patch for nausea, it works great. I have had migrains since i was 11 years old. The same as you, you just learn to live throught it. I have not had a headache since i was banded. You can live throught the pain it is the nausea and vomiting you are worried about. I would have the surgery. -
I had turkey last night. small bites, mash spuds gravy to help it go down. I like sweet potatoes or Butternut squash better then spuds. Cranberries, green Beans. No stuffing it is bread. I used a sandwich plate and put a small portion of everything on it. Ate very slow and stopped when i was done. It was GREAT. If you can eat it then enjoy. I also had a small bite of pie. I was STUFFED! Vicky

My pre-op diet is officially blown
ickytazz replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i had no preop either. I was also told that liquids are what you can suck through a straw, ask your doctor for clarifications. I put soup in the blender with broth and was fine, i could not wait for the mushy foods and then to go on real food. you will be fine, you will be suprised at how little will fill you up.. -
i had my first fill on 10.20.05 and my 2n d on 11.9.05 I was hungry all the time and eating way more then i sould. I also gained a few pounds. GET A FILL!!!! Vicky

I ate hummas, pudding, yougart, apple sauce, i would mash up tunafish, canned chicken, canned salmon and eat that. soft cheeses, mush, scrambled eggs. I was so excited to get to refried Beans, i bought cans of them I didnt eat them once because i mashed up the above. I also cooked salmon, make a sauce for the top and mashed it up.

im sitting here with a patient who had a GB 2 weeks ago. She has been in and out of the hospital with complications from the surgery. She flat lined on the table twice, she has lost weight, but has a gray tint to her face and skin. She can not drink or eat what she is supose to as she is so sick. She just got released from the hospital for the 2nd time yesterday for more problems, she is not having cardiac changes on her EKG and has home health coming to her house daily to take care of her. I see no reason this is better then a band. I know others who can not stop the weight loss and have broken ribs rolling over in bed.

eating alot, can't wait for 1st fill
ickytazz replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
this is normal. You are healing right now, not about loosing weight. I had my first fill 6 weeks post op, that was 2.5 weeks ago. I was full for a few days and then im back to eating and hungry. I have another fill on Wed. I think i should have had a fill at about 5 weeks, i know i could not but the way i was feeling i now need another. I have gained 2 pounds this weekend. I can not wait until Wed for sure! -
A dream thread. They often say a lot (or nothing at all)
ickytazz replied to Nykee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
many of my dreams come true. The last major one that made me never want to dream again was a serial fire bug was going around Western Washington lighting fires. I had a dream 2 nights before, the fire was close to my house and was something importain to us all. Well it was the church my parents were married in, 1/2 mile from my house, the same night he burnt down the church between my 2 brothers houses. No dreams here unless they are happy, please! Vicky -
Did you loose weight between surgery and first fill?
ickytazz replied to Clementine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lost over 20 post op to fill, after first fill 3 weeks ago i have lost another 10 and im getting another fill on Wed as i have lost my full feeling. I lost 10 before surgery. -
i didnt have a preop, i had an ekg last year it was normal and no health issues what so ever. vicky
-
I have lost almost 40pounds. Im loosing about 2-4 pounds per week. You have to still watch what you eat, drink your water and get moving. I would do it again in a heart beat.
-
I want butternut squash in the worst way (sick huh) you can get some butternut squash soup and drink it. I have had butternut daily for 2 weeks, we have a store here that sells it for .70 each. OMG love it, little spray butter and cinnamon. you all are doing great, keep up the good work. Each doctor is so different. I was on liquids for 2 weeks, soups and stuff in the blender, then mushies for 2 weeks.

do you think you need a fill? can you eat what you want, including bread???? I would talk with your doctor and see if a small fill would be helpful

working out = muscle weight. Muscle weighs more then fat. If you clothing is feeling loose then you are doing fine. If your clothing is not feeling loose, cut out the carbs and increase your Protein for a few days it should start you loosing again. Going off and back on works to, but you may plateau again. Keep it up!!!
