    Food Selections

I am just 4 weeks out and there are things I definitely crave even if its HEAD HUNGER, one of those things is pizza, but I have decided I am not eating anything like that until at least 12 weeks out and the truth is even when I decide to do it I won't be able to eat but 1 slice if that. My thought is that I will eat the right foods 99 percent of the time and save those no no's for the occasional birthday or celebration. We can't stop being human but we do have to take responsibility for our decisions.
  2. Had my first appointment since surgery yesterday. I had surgery on the 1st my appointment was the 17th. . I've lost 20 pounds, they said by what they see it looks like 18 pounds of fat and two pounds of muscle. They also did a leak test and they have the machine in the office I was able to see my new tummy and I was able to watch liquids go through it as I swallowed it was really cool. I have to say they did get on to me a little bit because I admitted to them I had cheated and already been eating things like boiled eggs and oatmeal. They don't want anything like that eaten until my full three weeks are up which is Tuesday. The reason they say for this is that they don't want the stomach to have to work at all, they want it to strictly heal. Since I chose them as my doctor I suppose I should listen to what they say and so I promised I'd be a good girl until Tuesday and then I was going to start eating soft food! They also released me to go back to work on Tuesday which is going to be a good thing it will keep me busy. I feel real good today I have for the last couple of days and I'm excited and looking towards the future. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  3. Had my sleeve on the 1 st and have really have had a great recovery thus far. I have already lost several pounds since hospital discharge and up until the last 2 days I have felt what I considered to be the normal restriction and almost no real hunger. The odd thing is that as of last night I have almost felt like my restriction has lessened. I had tomato Soup last night and I measured out 4 ounces but expected it to feel some restriction before I finished it, but I didn't and I really felt like I wanted more. I also drank about 2 ounces of a Protein shake because I thought maybe I needed some protein. I still didn't really feel restriction. Today I have had the same feelings. I also don't seem to have the problem of needing to sip slowly. I can drink Water, shakes, soup almost as quickly as before surgery. I realize that I may be worrying for nothing and that I should be glad I can swallow without bloating but I wanted to get some feedback from other regarding this. Is this normal? 4. Thanks for your reply, that does make sense to me and we do tend to expect our experience to be just like someone else's, why? We are all different. I will just embrace the new me. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  5. You right I have read these things but I forgot that liquid is different than food. Also as with everything in life... my experience affects me much more than someone else's experience! LOL Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I am excited and nervous and just want to share with everyone. My surgery is in San Antonio Texas tomorrow morning. I have to be at the hospital at 7:00 so there will probably be some down time, but its about to happen. Please everyone put in a prayer for me! I am not a youngster so I really don't expect it to be easy. Just as long as I make it through it and lose some good weight I am happy. Thanks ya'll for letting me yammer!
  7. Thank you so much for the support! I am heading to San Antonio right now. 5:30 am and all I want is a good cup of coffee
  8. @Kidbxrs I understand what your thinking in a way because I have had some of those same thoughts. I do think that you will definitely need to eat that way for the rest of your life to lose the weight and keep in off but I don't think that means we can never have some food we want off and on. It just has to be much more controlled than before. My surgery is tomorrow and I am nervous, but not so much about the food. Before you have surgery you really should try to come to grips with your relationship to food.

    Surgery W/ No Cpap

They never use your CPAP during a surgery, the CPAP is only to be used for you to sleep at night and since you have never used it before you won't miss it. CPAP takes some getting use to anyway so its best that you don't get it and try to break it in at the hospital.

    The Biggest Loser

I use to watch that show years ago but I got so sick of the closeup (cry for the camera) fake scene. I have quit watching most of the REALITY show type stuff because they aren't reality. There is no reality TV if you have a camera with someone standing behind it following you around. Even scene is choreographed. Then its cut and pieced together for more drama. Gag
  13. @@Miss Mac I love that idea! (but I wouldn't try that if there was any chance)
  14. I was the 3rd child and 3rd daughter to a beautiful mother. She was no DIVA but she was/is beautiful. Unfortunately the first 2 daughters took after mother and I took after my dads side that wasn't so beautiful. I was just nothing that my mom was use to dealing with or that she really related to looks wise. By the time I was 12 I was wearing her clothes at 15 I was a size larger and bustier. I had straight hair and I was bigger boned and not delicate, they were smaller, more petite and mom could relate to them. I wasn't fat as a teenager but due to the constant comparison I felt to my sisters I FELT FAT. At 16 I was 36-26-35 .But felt ugly and huge. In reality mom was never intentionally nasty to me, I don't know that she made me feel bad on purpose but she didn't know how to comfort me when I approached her with body issues because to her I was bigger. What I needed was for her to say, your right you are nothing like me or your sisters but your beautiful in different way. Even if she lied convincingly that's what I needed to hear. Unfortunately no one has ever told me that and partially because I am not beautiful, but it would be nice for someone to say I was beautiful in a way that I truly felt they meant it. I am sure she didn't realize the importance of certain phrases or lack of certain words or realize they played a part in the person I became, just as I didn't realize how some things I said and did to my kids may affect them. That's the interesting thing about life - some of us have to learn the hard way and by the time we learn it feels like we missed out, but I have learned and I intend to enjoy the rest of my life with Zest, humor and love. Just realize you are the only person you can really control so enjoy who you are and people that emotionally support you.
  15. My suggestion is just don't go back. When you start seeing another Doctor have them contact the surgeons office for a copy of all of your records. He can also request all records from the gastro.
  16. I am on day 8 of Pre-op and seem to be doing ok but on day 4 and 5 by the time I got home from work I was just dragging hiney.

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

@MeFirst Did someone help you join our group yet?
  18. Today is my 7th day of pre-op dieting and the 1st 2 days were TOUGH, by the 3rd day though it got easier and if I keep myself busy its even better. In truth I am a boredom or stress eater. The amazing thing is that I have lots 9 pounds since I started pre-op! That is exciting but I have to figure a lot of that is Fluid. Now I am just waiting for the Doctors office to get my short term disability paperwork back to my office so I can comfortably take off the 3 weeks I want.

    first night home

@nikki3 Congrats! Your 13 year old must be greatly influenced by her mom trying to take care of herself. You have to take care of you, so that you will be there for them. Keep up the good work!
  21. This sounds weird to me but help me out. I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I get 1 shake for Breakfast, 1 shake for lunch and for dinner I get 4 oz Protein and 1-2 cups veggies. On day 2 and day 3 of my diet even though I am really hungry at lunch time, but the time I drink my shake I feel bloated for about the next 3 hours? I really hate this feeling. Do to many shakes bloat you? Is it the sweetener ?
  22. @reinventingmyself My surgery is on the 1st of March

    The Last Supper

This weekend I will have my last supper before pre surgery diet. I am not sure what I will have but I will cheat a little I am sure. It will probably have bread and gravy as part of it.
