OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to RomAnca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Reading this thread made me realize how daunting scales are for everyone. I try not to care much about my weight because I feel like I'm doing the right things, so I rarely check my weight at home. I basically just wait for Doctor appointments before I get weighed. I think we all have to really be proud of how far we come and know there is still a ways to go but we've literally gotten over the largest hurdle. YAAAY US! -
OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to RomAnca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haven't been here in a while. I just had my three month check in with my Doctor and I'm under 400 lbs for the first time in a while! YAAY! I also joined a Gym in November and I have a personal trainer that I visit weekly. I'm noticing the weight loss and I'm just excited for more. WAY more lol. My only issue is nosey co-workers who are trying to push me into revealing that I have surgery but I'd much rather not talk about it with them. It's so awkward. -

Calling all October sleevers!!
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to Detroit_25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok I had my 2 week post surgery appointment. I'm down 57 pounds since this journey began. I can't believe I'm almost under 400 pounds. It has been a while lol! I really want to join a Gym and start walking on a treadmil but I'm feeling insecure, part of me wants to lose some more weight before I joint but I really need to get over that mindset. -

Don't feel bad y'all. I had the same pain and same regrets. I was resentful at first because everyone else I read about seemed to have no pain after surgery, but I was writhing around like a shot deer. However I'm a week post surgery and I do feel significantly better. I didn't have any of the issues swallowing that most people do so I have been drink and doing some light eating. I think once you get passed the pain and the liquid diet you'll be fine. Protein shakes for 3 weeks will make anyone crazy lol. Just blame it on the shakes! STAY STRONG. -

I've been wanting to come here sooner to provide a post surgery update but I guess it's better late than never lol. I'm officially one week post surgery. I get jealous when I hear stories about how little pain everyone was in after their surgery because I felt like I was donkey punched in my gut after surgery. I was literally yelling and squirming around on the bed after I awoke. Plus every time I had to get up to walk the pain on my right side was killing me. Needless to say I don't think the pain meds did me any good. I wanted something stronger but I guess they decided against it. I have residual pain on my right side post surgery that still persist, especially if I move a certain way, but it has gotten better by each passing day. I can finally lay on my stomach, YAAY. Baby steps y'all. I cosign everyone who says to bring gas X strips and a biotene mouth wash for post surgery recovery. I didn't really do much of anything else post surgery besides get on my phone. I haven't gotten on a scale yet, I will wait until my 2 week visit with the Doctor to find out how much i have lost since the surgery but I do feel great. I was having some regrets at first but it's all about taking it slow and adjusting to the new stomach. Can't wait to share more of my journey with you all. -

This is the final night before the surgery. Ahhhhh so much anxiety. I haven't done anything all day. I really want to have one last meal before the hurrah but I decided not to, I'm committed to this journey and I don't want to self-sabotage any more. I'm ready to be HEALTHY! -

This thread is popping all of a sudden lol. Yesterday was my last day at work before the leave. I've been telling everyone I'm going on vacation lol. I know it's weird but I feel like I'm preparing for things to go wrong so I spent all day at work making sure everything was organized for my teammates in case I didn't return. Very Morbid. I just have this big fear of dying on the operating table. My surgery is 2 days away and all I can think about is dying. At least it has replaced my yearning for meat. -
PRE-OP Diet: TODAY I MESSED UP, BIG HUGE MEGA TIME :-(
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to PatliPriya's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
This thread made me feel better. I have had small cheats like some almonds and some baked potato chips, but I was told I was allowed to have 2 sensible meals anyway. However I have been doing my best to stick to a liquid diet so those few cheats probably aren't far from what I could be eating. -

So yesterday was bad. I cheated on the diet and had some Nachos and I feel horrible about it. It wasn't even worth it because they didn't even taste good. Today is a new day but I'm back on the diet and I think this slip up has only made me stronger. -

This Liquid Diet is just knocking off the pounds. I haven't even been on it a full week and I lost 12 more pounds, I went in today for the blood work and I was in shock. Makes me optimistic about the weight loss post surgery lol. It's been hard though. Food has been on my mind ALL day. I just want MEAT. I don't know how vegetarians do it. -
Hair loss and ethnicity
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to PrayingForWeightLoss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is it sad that this topic is one of my biggest fears of the surgery lol. I have dreads and I love them so much and I'm afraid that they will fall out and I will have to shave my hair off and regrow them. 5 years down the drain. Vanity comes before a fall I guess. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
happyhappyjoyjoy replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have so many, but the final straw that literally made me schedule an appointment was when my Job hired a new executive over my department after firing my boss and she asked me to stay after her introductory team meeting. I distinctly remember feeling my heart sink because I just knew it was going to be bad. She told me people had made complaints that they could see my stomach underneath my shirt and that I needed to buy longer shirts. I have had my feelings hurt a lot in my life being overweight, but this was one of my worst moments. I remember holding back tears and trying to make it seem like I wasn't upset, but I literally could've walked out of her office that day and quit. It happened on a friday and I spent all weekend doing research and on Monday morning I called a Doctor and made an appointment for consultation. -
