Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

Thank you! I have been worried that I'm going to take this drastic step and then I'm not going to lose, I'll sabotage myself, etc ???? Thanks for the info - it sounds to me like you're doing great! I'll need to keep this in mind post op. I just started my low carb diet today, so I'm super grouchy and tired. Lol! -
Today is the day!

I am so scared of this same thing!!! Good luck to you!! -
The PTT is a test that measures how long it takes your blood to clot. If it is high, that means it takes your blood longer than normal to clot, which puts you at risk for bleeding. There are other tests they can (and should) perform if your PTT is elevated and you aren't on medication that would cause it.

I'm doubting if I want the surgery...
RNsleever715 replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As a RN, I can tell you that the majority of surgeons are not known for their bedside manner. I'm okay with that - I want a surgeon with skill over personality ANY day of the week! I have seen so many people choose surgeons based on their personality when I wouldn't so much as allow that surgeon to remove a mole from me ???? just sayin! I know many won't agree... But I say look at the credentials, complication rate, etc... and let the numbers be your comfort. Good luck! -
What do you wish you would/wouldn't have taken?
RNsleever715 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am compiling a list of things I need to take with me to Mexico & I'm curious for the ones who have been sleeved - what is the one thing you didn't take that you wish you would have? What did you think you needed but really didn't? So far I'm thinking: my own pillow incentive spirometer clear G2 Gas X strips Zofran ODT (in case I have extra nausea, I'm sorry I don't deal well with that, lol) I have alot of other things listed such as canned juice, instant broth, non-carb drinks etc. but not sure I will need those immediately post op. I'm waiting on the post-op diet from the nutritionist. Thanks for any suggestions you can give! -

How nice! I'm going to Dr. Ortiz too, I didn't know they took you out for shopping & touring, that sounds like fun I hope I'm feeling up to it. We're going to go to San Diego for a day before surgery. -

@@wascott did you have a good experience with Dr. Ortiz? My mother thinks I'm insane for doing this in Mexico. Crazy enough, I'm a RN & I feel totally comfortable with my decision after looking at his credentials & seeing how clean the facility is, etc. -

Dr. Tagger Birmingham minimally invasive surgury? ?
RNsleever715 replied to ccm2n's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I don't think that sounds too pricey. I'm also from AL. I looked at Schmitt & Miles prior to choosing Mexico - they were $12,500 for the outpatient procedure. -
I haven't had it done yet, but I'm scheduled for 6/28 w/Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana! I'm also a RN. I feel I'm being proactive - rather than watch the scale continue to go up, I want to do something NOW (I've taken diet pills for years, I'm sick of it). Good luck! Please keep us updated! I can't find a whole lot of people who have had it done at a lower BMI so I am not sure what to expect.

Question for any of you that have had the surgery in Mexico or are planning on it. I am going to fly in a day early to San Diego so that I can get a day of sightseeing in pre-op. As it looks right now, I'll be having surgery with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana MX on Tuesday, back to San Diego on Friday - I was hoping instead of flying out that day that I could get another day of sightseeing in also - but don't want to spend the extra money if I'm gonna feel like doo doo. Thoughts?

Will I feel like sightseeing?

When I had my plastics, my nurses in the recovery house were AMAZING. I felt not only well-cared for, but genuinely loved. All three of my nurses CRIED the day I left to go home. They were the sweetest ever! Edit: I just want to say that my sister's a nurse and I have so much respect and admiration for what nurses do. They remain compassionate and caring through some very disgusting situations. I guess it's a bit like being a parent. You love your kids through vomiting and dirty diaper changing and all that gross stuff. Nurses do that for perfect strangers! Definitely takes a special kind of person. When I first had my plastics, I HATED depending on the nurses for everything and asking them to help me with gross stuff like going to the bathoom or cleaning up my vomit. But they did it and somehow they were more than happy to do it and didn't resent me for it. They were lovely lovely people. Awwwwww, sounds like you had some very compassionate nurses. I've been a nurse almost 20 years, so I have run across a few in my day that aren't so pleasant I think *most* people who go into nursing have a caring heart - at least that's what you need, anyway -

We are going a day early, but can't any more than that ???? thanks for the tip about emailing her! I heard from Dr Jimenez this morning about post op meds so I'm feeling better about that. ???? they said no narcotics after surgery, which hey I'm fine with that because they make me nauseous anyway - I just hope toradol is effective pain control immediately post op! ???? -

I always tell them prior to surgery that I have severe nausea - they always give me something for it. Maybe it is Benadryl! If I don't get it (whatever it is) I have serious nausea and vomiting. I have a sensitive tummy! ???? I'll be glad when most of it is GONE lol -

Great! Any idea what it is? I'm like a traveling pharmacy... I'm always scared I'm gonna need something Unfortunately, I don't remember off the top of my head. I am sure I still have it written down somewhere at home. But if you email OCC (they should have sent you an email with all the contact info for various topics) I am sure they would give you a list of all the stuff they prescribe post-op. It seemed like a pretty standard set-up. There were 5 of us there the day of my surgery and they just had ready-made bags with all the drugs and printed instructions in them that they handed out to each of us. Edit: I called it my "bag o' drugs" and when I went back across the border to the US, I had it out of my suitcase, just loosely carrying it. I put it through the x-ray like my other bags and the border guard didn't even look at me sideways. I thought that was pretty funny! I asked her on the phone a few weeks ago when I scheduled. She said "it's Mexican medicine" ???? I was like uhhhhh.... I am very sensitive to meds, so she's gonna have to be a little more specific than that! Lol! -
