What is it used for? Is it an antidepressant? Does anyone know of an antidepressant that doesn't cause sexual dysfunction in men besides Wellbutrin? My hubby has to use the antidepressant and has absolutely desire in that department. dani

Have ya'll noticed her in pictures lately? She poses for the camera as if she believes she is the sexiest beauty in the world. It's sickening. I lost my desire to see her when she bitched out Joy and Meredith for taking pictures at the wedding etc. She was not nice to them, and I noticed that she was whining a lot. I wonder if she is really happy in her marriage. Anyways I have had enough of her and she is so conceited and stuck up she doesn't fit on the show anymore. Dani

Would you do it again or choose another option?

I am pissed because I cannot eat anything healthy. I choke on watermelon and grapes, choke on most protein foods or throw them up, can't eat veggies like I used to love. I have a whole bunch of collards out there in the garden and I can't tolerate them. I throw most everything good up and I am still managing to get too many calories and am not losing weight. I have not had a fill for over two months and may never have another one. My hair has all fallen out and I just throw any vitamins right back up. Dani -
`Hi Everyone Well I am not one to talk positively. I am in the dumps about my weight loss and lap band. If I am restricted enough to have it work, I can't eat anything healthy like veggies and I choke on meats. I haven't had a fill in a couple of months and am trying to let it just loosen up so I can eat veggies without choking. I don't think I am on a healthy diet. I can't tolerate some of the healthy foods and am not losing any weight because I am eating things like soft noodle soups and ice creams. I am really disappointed in myself and I'm sorry that I got the band. Dani

Yes I agree about her being trashy. At least she was real when she was heavy. She began turning me off when she wouldn't come clean about her weight loss, everyone could see that she must have had surgery. She was totally dishonest. And then that book that she wrote, oh Please! Just because she got someone to finally marry her, she is now an expert in beauty and romance? A real phony if you ask me. Dani

Hi everyone. I haven't written in quite awhile. I'm sorry, I know I need to post and support everyone but I have had some problems with the fills and have felt disgusted with everything. :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: These are my problems: I think I am probably over filled a wee bit, but it takes two hours one way to the doc for a fill. Either I can eat everything in the house and am ravenous or I can't even drink liquids. Right now I am dehydrated again because liquids make me burp and choke. I can't eat veggies unless I make raw juice or put them in the blender. Down they go and back up they come. My stomach just can't handle it. The same with so many foods. I spend half my time during meals getting up and pbing, sometimes outright vomiting but not much. It's funny, there are two things that seem to stay down no matter what: Chili cheese Fritos and popcorn. For some reason they don't upset my stomach. I went out to dinner with my hubby last night and had a breakfast but it just wouldn't stay down. I am worried because I am afraid I will turn bullemic if I don't get a grip. Sometimes it just feels so bad in there that I have to get it out. I know that I can't always gauge how much I am eating, when I am out. All of a sudden it feels full, all the way to the top of my esophagus. Then it just sits there until I get rid of it. :omg: And I am finding it soooo hard not to eat at night after dinner. I mean really really hard. It's an addiction, I know it. :sick Do people have any insight in how I can get a handle on this? Thanks in advance. The good news is that I am finally beginning to lose the weight. I have been stuck up and down a few pounds since the surgery. Now a sturdy 198 and staying there. I have joined Curves too, for the very first time. Dani

What a terrible and miserable day you have had. I hope both of you can just make it through and not think about the cancer right now, until you know for sure. I do think that docs do the wrong thing in being so casual about mentioning it before they have the facts. My heart is with you and I sure hope you will catch us up as soon as you know something. Thinking of you and your husband. Dani

how can i stop eating at night!!!!!???
Danistar replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I so don't know what the answer is myself. I am really restricted during the day and early evening. Then everything loosens up magically by about 9PM and I find myself making up for all of the foods I couldn't eat during the day. I don't know what happened to my will power. Dani -
antidepressants/psych meds?
Danistar replied to Monica S's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was taking SAM-e for depression for three years. It never stopped working and there were no side effects. But....they are big horse pills and you can't crush them because they need to be whole. So I have a tight band now and can't tolerate any pills. I feel sad about it. Now I am trying to find a prescription that will work, without all of the crappy side effects. Dani -
I sure think you should contact your doc and go see him about this. He will have the answers you need. The only thing I can think of is; Do you think you are eating too much at one time? I get pain in my left shoulder if I eat too much, even if I don't feel it in my stomach.

Hi Amos, I think I answered you on another thread. Soft breads are really hard to eat and should not be eaten in the mushy stage. The flour is so sticky that it is said to cause terrible problems because it gets clogged down there. So don't eat any. I have read that many people can no longer tolerate bread and muffins and pancakes. I have also read that sometimes a person can eat whole wheat toast, if done very slowly and carefully. We make our own whole wheat bread and it is really delicious, but I have to chew and chew and chew and then eat very slowly. You can get too much down there in a blink of an eye and then suffer the consequences. I just want to stress that breads cannot be eaten until you are totally healed and on a normal diet. You can puree anything, I liked mashed potatoes with a soft boiled egg, and cottage cheese with fruit smushed to a soft goo. I also liked to get one of those thick Campbell Soups and puree that. Then you get all of the flavor.

Hi Spydr I echo what everyone else said. I got a case of nerves and called up about my doc and made sure that he had never had a complaint about him. That eased my mind a lot. Then every time I read about a complication I would say "Thanks dear God that I won't have any complications. I asked Him to be in the operating room with me and all of the staff and the doctor. Then I began to relax and stop worrying. We all have the surgery because our lives are unmanageable with the weight and the other medical issues. I sure want to get rid of the Diabetes, sleep Apnea, Asthma, high blood pressure, swollen feet and legs, aches and pains and ad nauseum. I had my surgery Sept 12t 05 and so far everything has gone very well, just the way it is supposed to. I had my first fill last Monday and am doing great. I think the thing I worry about most is getting an infection in my port. That's my biggest concern. Everytime I worry I pray about it, and it helps.

Saying a prayer for all of you today Kare. I'm sorry, what a miserable experience for all concerned. How is your mom holding up?

Soft boiled eggs go down really well. I like mashed potatoes and the egg mixed right in, you can add salt and it is really tasty. You can use dried potato flakes and it is yummy. I also liked the cottage cheese and mashed fruit, you can just mash it up with a fork or blend it in the blender. I also liked those thick soups by Campbell and just whirled them in a blender.

Hi I had the same problem and took a dose of Milk of Magnesia in a glass of water. You need to take it in water to have it work really well. Good luck!

I'm really sorry that you have to have this done. I sure hope everything goes fine and that's the end of it. Let us know, ok?

Hi Penni I still couldn't get the site to accept my picture. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Yes call your doctor immediately. He will probably tell you that you need to take antibiotics.

I don't think we can ever trust the ER docs or any other doc who hasn't received information on the band. They don't know anything about it and will make wrong decisions. It's still too new. I went to the hospital for a standard fill this morning. They wanted me to have a blood test, which I refused. They wanted to give me an IV and an Anesthesiologist and Versed to relax me. I refused all of that too. They just aren't educated about the band! The first thing to do is to call your doctor, he can tell you what to do next. If you can't call your doc in Mexico then you need to get a new doc to asssume the care and responsibilities for him. You have to be able to call immediately if you have any sort of problem.

Hi I'm glad to hear that your fill went well. I too had my fill today and had no pain and no problems either.

Check out these photos--see anything different?

The barium swallow was done on me by my surgeon the day after I had the surgery, to be sure the band was placed properly. Then I had another barium swallow today for my first fill, so he could tell how much saline to instill into the port to tighten up the band.

Are there any older bandsters here
