I was sleeved Monday June 22nd. I felt great that evening after I woke up, but the next day was awful. I stopped all pain medication as it caused severe nausea and vomiting and was discharged Wednesday. I was in rather acute pain and dealt with nausea, dry heaves and sporadic vomiting until Friday. On Friday I turned a corner-- was able to hydrate fully that day, pain had greatly subsided, and Saturday I felt like I was returning to my old self. The first few days I was really miserable and couldn't even nap or sleep because of headaches. I got my drain out yesterday and I feel amazing today! Still tired but running at about 75% now. Hang in there--- you're not alone... One morning you will wake up and feel your energy coming back. Especially when you can get your protein going!

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?
NellZ replied to PChayy05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved June 22 and am doing better today than all other days. I've been having really bad headaches at night that make it hard to sleep. Other than that my abdomen is extremely sore and my drain is pulling at the incisions, so hopefully I can get in on Monday to have it pulled. Wondering how long it will take to feel back to normal or even up for leaving the house . -
I got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Things are going much better for me now-- I had a lot of nausea, vomiting and headache related to the general anaesthesia and morphine, so that was pretty unpleasant. Now that I'm home I'm able to hold down g2 and Protein shakes-- tiny little sips! I've been trying to hold off on anything other than Tylenol as Zofran gave me a wicked headache. One day at a time-- an I agree-- I look forward to my sleep!!!

This past week has been relatively tough, between the liquid diet and nerves. Today I finally feel settled, calm, and totally ready for tomorrow's surgery. I've put so much time and energy into research, weighing the pros and cons, and coming to terms with the lifelong changes that this surgery and new lease on life will entail... It seems like I should be wracked with nerves right now, like it's the calm before the storm-- yet all I can do is smile while I pack my hospital bag! I'm just so relieved I came to this decision now rather than waiting ten or twenty years and missing out on so much life experience because of my weight. I'm a little nervous when thinking about the post-surgical pain.... In three short days I'll be back at home and on my way to becoming a stronger, healthier person!!!! See you all on the other side.... xoxo!

If the clinic you went to takes any pride whatsoever in their reputation, they should offer that you come in for a wound check or follow up due to your concerns. If an adverse reaction has occurred, they need to assess for that and provide proper wound care. Call them and voice your concerns. All laser hair removal treatments should target the hair follicle while leaving the skin intact.

Unflavored protein powder recommendation
NellZ replied to nrg33's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I really love the unflavored "whey protein isolate" by Now Sports-- I mix it with water, ice and Crystal light--- delicious! Their vanilla and chocolate are tasty too ☺ -
Yikes. What laser did they use? Try looking for someone in your area that has a Sciton Joule and performs Forever Bare BBL Hair reduction. That the system I use at my Clinic for Hair reduction-- it's way more comfortable and no down time and takes fewer treatments. I'm a nurse and the laser technician at my facility.

I absolutely LOVE sparkling Water, like Perrier or Talking Rain. I'm disappointed I'll have to give up this no carb/no sodium refreshing treat-- but if that's what I have to do so be it. I'm in my pre-op diet stage, and while sparkling water is still allowed, I've quit drinking it. I've replaced it with unsweetened iced tea with a wedge of lemon-- not quite as festive but still wonderfully refreshing! It's ironic that I'm not missing pizza or coffee... it's the sparkling water I wasn't prepared to give up! lol!

I'm so glad you posted this question! My surgery is scheduled for June 22. My surgeon said he'd be fine with me taking out my own drain about seven days post op, as I am a nurse and live about an hour and a half away. Has anyone pulled their own drain out after their VSG? How did it feel? Or how did it feel to have your drain pulled out by a health care team member? I've never had one before. Thanks for your input!!

NellZ replied to tsmith5110's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Tom, my sleeve gastrectomy is scheduled for June 22 as well!. I'm 32, close to your age. I'm excited to know I won't let another year slip away with missed-out opportunities due to my weight. let me know how your surgery goes-- one week from tomorrow!! Can't believe it! -
Thank you for sharing your experience with post surgery pain/sensation. It is calming the anxiety--- I'm not afraid of hard work or some pain!
