So sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. Make sure to add protein to your clear liquids. I put a half to quarter scoop of unflavored in about 4oz of broth and sip until I've finished and then switch to crystal light with protein and then back to broth. (Rotating flavors keeps it from being too boring) the protein keeps me from feeling too weak. Are you taking vitamins? Did your doctor recommend B12? That helps too. If the dizziness and blurred vision continue after vitamins and protein you may want to check with your doctor. It could also be a blood pressure issue. I do get weak if I'm up for too long too. I also get dizzy if I get up or sit down too quickly. Remember to take it easy. This really was a major surgery. You've had a huge chunk of one of your main organs removed. Much more radical than a gall bladder removal and less complicated than a planned c-section. (Though I can honestly say my emergency c-section was way worse than this since it was a vertical incision and took 10 weeks to heal but my gall bladder surgery was easy)

Enjoy it! This means you are lucky and doing fantastic! I have been having to force myself to sip from a baby spoon every minute or so because more than that causes acid and gas to bubble up ... and from what I've read too it's not uncommon to have issues. In this situation you are above average and I'm jealous!! Lol. Glad you are doing so well! I hope my issues improve soon and I can drink more easily like you!

Did everything go ok with your surgery? How are you doing now?Hey! Eveything went good. Thank god! The first day or two were tough...I was extremely nauseous and no matter what they gave me it made me vomit. So they stopped all narcotics and I felt much better. Gas pains are tough...I never knew you could feel gas pains in your neck and shoulders but you can. Walking helped alot...just to get everything going. I got home yesterday, I am tired but I am so happy to be back with my kids and doing my mom stuff (as much as I can). if anyone had any questions feel free to ask me. ????So glad to hear you are doing better and home with your children. Sounds like you had a rough couple of days. Thank God they realized your pain meds were adding to the nausea. I can only imagine how painful the vomiting was right after surgery and am so grateful I didn't experience it but am so sorry you did. Those gas pains really are no joke either. I'm just like u, Never thought you could feel gas pains in your shoulders or neck. And I am so glad I've finally expelled all the excess. It's nice not to feel like I'm carrying around an extra 20 lbs only because of bloat caused by air. I hope things continue to improve for you and wish you a very speedy recovery.

I'm guessing the rumbling stomach is totally normal. Mine rarely stops and when it's not rumbling I'm getting awful reflux pains in my chest. Every time I take a sip of anything I have to burp after. Sometimes I even have to stand or walk to get the burp out. Still not horrific and easy to deal with. Don't forget to take your antacid daily if you were prescribed one. If you weren't then I believe gas-x strips are safe for Sleevers to use as needed. I'm a side and stomach sleeper so I truly feel your pain. If it makes you feel better- I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago and it only took about 5 days before I could sleep on either side without feeling extreme pain. I can sleep on my right side now with some pain when I ease into the position and as long as I stay still it's not too bad. The left side hurts like hell tho! Wouldn't recommend trying that side for a while.

Same here. Can't wait for thicker liquids! One more day! Yay! LolI had a funny moment today I have to share with y'all. It's definitely TMI but still all of you are probably the only people that can understand this right now. I did a happy dance after I used the restroom today. My urine was orange for the last few days due to dehydration and I was so excited when it was nearly clear that I had to do a little "post-surgery hold my belly while I shake my butt" dance cuz I knew that meant I had gotten in all my fluids today! Yay! Haha Don't think I pulled off all the protein like you did, but I'm aiming for that goal tomorrow too!

Thanks. So glad to hear you're doing better even tho it's not perfect yet. Feels so comforting to know I've got all of you here to understand my ups and downs. Still not regretting my decision at all. The future outcome will be so worth the little present pains.

I took the antacid they gave me about 15 minutes ago. I'm hoping it helps. My intestines are finally working normally as of this morning. Afraid maybe it has something to do with the fact that I woke up lying on my stomach. I suppose the pain meds they gave me really work because I have no clue how I ended up sleeping on my stomach and not in severe pain. LolI feel much better today. Still a little groggy and struggling to get in enough liquid since I hate the bubble sensation but I am totally enjoying this constant full feeling and having no real interest in food. So far I love my sleeve. @@ashley126 - I wanted to let u know I drank some warm wonton soup and it didn't cause the heartburn (or bubbles and lump in my throat) as much as the cold fluids do. I've realized that everything cold except for Popsicles and ice cause horrific bubbles and pain. I'm guessing the key for me is warm liquid. Thought you might like to know to try it and see if there's a difference for you too. Never thought I'd drink warm water or anything without ice and enjoy it but now that's all I can handle. Hope it helps.

I'm stuck on clear liquids until Saturday. Water, broth and G2 My little sis surprised me with wonton soup (strained completely only clear broth) and egg drop soup...tho I think the egg drop soup will have to wait until the soft food stage. I made my hubby eat it so I wouldn't be tempted. Looked way to thick to be considered a clear liquid.

Did everything go ok with your surgery? How are you doing now?
-
May try that. Cuz the bubble is driving me nuts. Lol Have any of you noticed ur taste buds changed? I absolutely hate the flavors I loved before surgery. I'm kinda unsure of what to drink. I hate all the Popsicles, jello and g2 I bought. Even the flintstone vitamins taste disgusting and I loved those as a kid. I've been having my husband taste everything to see if it's just in my head or if there is something wrong with the drinks. Lol He says it's gotta be that my taste buds changed cuz they taste the same as always to him. So...I guess they removed the part of my stomach that connected to my taste buds cuz nothing tastes really good anymore. I'm praying that the laughing cow cheese and morning star veggie patties still taste awesome because I can't wait to make it to soft foods so I can have them.

I have very similar issues. I totally know what you mean about feeling the meds go all the way down. And I am definitely having trouble with the bubble and sipping between naps but the antacid has helped a lot! Maybe try a Gas-X strip if you have some for the rib pain. If you don't then try walking for at least 10 minutes and it should help (make sure someone walks with u). I got that pain while in the hospital and they said it's air that is leftover from the surgery and it will eventually pass. If the trouble breathing gets worse when you're walking or even lasts more than a few hours with no relief while resting be sure to call your doc. Heck- you should call anyway to ease your mind. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Woohoo! Awesome news! Glad to hear you are doing better!
-
Oh no!! You poor thing! That explains why you feel so bad! I'm just getting to the point now where I don't really need the pain meds. In fact when I'm staying still or not sipping liquids I almost forget I've just had surgery. I'll probably take em about twice a day until Friday just to be sure I don't hurt anymore than I have to. But definitely don't skip ur antacid! The acid alone causes more pain than anything. I am feeling so much better since I took mine. Hope you get some relief from your meds and get some good rest to heal.

This is one of those things I'm both sad and glad to know I'm not alone in. I'm glad I'm not just abnormal but so sad u r going thru it too. Sorry you're feeling so crappy. Don't skip the pain meds if they sent you home with some. There's no sense in suffering if you absolutely don't have to. I intend to use them for at least 3 days as needed so I can get the rest I need and not allow myself to overdo it.
-
I just learned what you meant by "mini sparks" along your ribs. HahaEvery time I take a sip the liquid goes down and the tiny "sparks" or millions of tiny air bubbles stream upward. It's almost like I'm drinking something overly carbonated and it's tickling my stomach. Although the sharp stabbing sensation I get in my chest shortly after absolutely sucks. I can only burp to get rid of air while walking. I know this is TMI but I am unable to expel the air from the other direction and really wish I could cuz it seems as if that's where it's all at. The RN at the hospital said not to worry and it will pass in time but I haven't had any luck yet. Am I the only one that feels as if my intestines are on strike?

I am about to head home! And the best news is they've already taken me off a blood pressure medication for good!! Yay!!! They plan to wean me off the other after my follow-up visit. I'm so excited! So glad to hear y'all are doing well too!

Ok here. Rough first day with gas pain and IV trouble (my veins seem to have gotten scared and disappeared before surgery. Lol) I am amazed by how little I can sip and how little I am hungry. I was so afraid i would be starving after surgery and well now I don't even want to think about food. I had a small moment yesterday when the pain was at it's worst in recovery and I thought "OMG! What have I done to myself?!" Then it passed and I'm so excited it's over and my journey can begin. How was it for all of you? A lot like you've read of everyone's experiences or totally different?
-
Wishing you all the best of luck and a speedy recovery! Looking forward to hearing updates from all of you as soon as your feeling well enough to post again!
-
Good idea! Maybe I should finish my bottle of G2 just in case. Lol
-
I'm sorry to hear you are hurting so much that you are looking forward to anesthesia. But at least you know you get to get it over with really quick. I've gotta wait until 12:30. My nerves are gonna get bad by the time I finally get wheeled in. I wish it was early morning so I'd have less time to think about it. Wishing you the best! Hopefully the extra hydration from IV fluids will ease the headaches.

has your doc said if the dumping from the liquid is normal? It is pretty awful to start off dehydrated.
-
Last day before the first day of our new lives!! How's everyone feeling? ....Nervous, excited, afraid ??? I'm a bundle of mixed emotions. More calm than I thought I would be but mostly excited to begin this new journey.

My BMI is much higher than yours but my doc feels that pre-op liquid diets can't shrink a liver enough if fatty liver problems already exist. I know there is a small chance he may have to open me up and skip laparoscopic surgery if my liver is too fatty or my scar tissue from previous surgeries gets in the way so I'm just hoping I'll be lucky and he won't have to. I've enjoyed being able to eat normal food while on vacation but vacation has also made me even more tired of being so darn fat. Vacationing in New York while struggling to walk and climb stairs is no fun. I am sooo excited Tuesday is almost here!! I never thought my fear would almost completely be replaced with shear excitement. Only 2 days until we can join the losers bench!! Yay!!

I've got a couple of small sample packs of unflavored unjury powder and my raspberry lemonade crystal light in my carry-on bag. Praying I don't end up with a layover anywhere so it's not too tortuous. Lol (**I don't have to start my liquid diet until 10am Monday so it'll only be a little rough while I'm on the plane ride home.)
