Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!
WorkinOnMe replied to stephh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
189 for me today ... woohoo! almost to my goal for this challenge. It is so much easier to watch it go in small increments and make the mini-goals. I feel so much more successful!!! Thanks again Steph! -
LOVE this topic!! I am about 7 months post-op, but I created a NSVs wish-list when I was pre-op. Here is the list and how I am doing so far ... 1. Weigh less than my husband DONE! 2. Wear something in a smaller size than when I graduated HS (20+ years ago) DONE! 3. Give away all clothing that starts with a #2 (28, 26, etc) DONE! 4. Shop in something other than a plus store/department .... Kind of for jeans that I like, but not for long as they are now getting baggy in the butt! 5. Buy/wear tall boots DONE! And Skinny jeans too! 6. Buy/Wear a "little black dress" and actually have it be little 7. Walk more than a mile without being breathless DONE! I am now walking 5K races. 8. Fly without needing a seat belt extender .... Hopefully when we go on vaca! 9. Go parasailing ... This summer, for sure! 10. Go mountain biking ... as soon as the weather is nice enough! One that was not on my list, but just recently happened ... being called "skinny"!! Totally loved it, although I do not consider myself skinny.

I switched to decaf about 3 month pre-op. Had my first cup just over 3 weeks post-op. Have never had a problem with it irritating my stomach, and can now do ONE cup of caffeine once in a while if I want/need to. Dr knows and is fine with it. I would say, talk to your surgeon or NUT and as long as they are okay with it then try a bit to see how you do. Everyone is different.

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

b***h!! Coke AND a straw??? Humpffff....Made my bottle of wine last month seem tame. Yep, the whole entire bottle. It was so freaking good I cant even tell you! Had a headache the size of Mount whatever the next morning but it was totally worth it. :-) Don't regret it an will probably do it again in the right circumstances. But coke AND a straw??....20 Hail Marys for Lipstick Lady! An entire freaking BOTTLE?!?!? I think you might be the b**tch! Oh mylanta ... I can barely squeak in one glass. I think about my days of drinking a whole bottle with fondness and, yes, a bit of sadness. At this point I am happy I can at least enjoy a glass now and then. {sigh} I guess I should just curl up and dig in to another ... ahem, I mean A PIECE of cheesecake. Not like I would know how easily it goes down or anything. I mean, it just looks so yummy ..... -
Congrats Girl!!! Such an amazing feeling to see a goal reached. Keep it up!

How are ya'll spending Thanksgiving? My first sleevedgiving :P
WorkinOnMe replied to cuchas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have to say, yesterday went sooooo much better than I anticipated! Reached a new personal best on my 5K and had a few bites of several different foods before I was full. How did y'all do?? -
It is a diuretic so cab dehydrate. Also an irritant, so beginning stages of recovery means it can bother your healing stomach. That said, I have a cup of coffee every now & then, but mostly stick to decaf. I am 6 months out & my doc says typically none before this.

Hope all went well!!

I have always been cold, even before losing so much. But now, well, let's just say Anna & Elsa can't even compare!! I sleep in sweatpants, long sleeve t-shirt, oversized sweatshirt & socks. Oh, and we have a heated waterbed to boot. My cats used to sleep by my feet to stay warm ... they don't anymore. I think I was stealing their heat! If only I could convince the hubby to move to a Caribbean island ... bet I'd warm up there!

PCP Visit To Discuss WLS
WorkinOnMe replied to DivaSoBlessed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My PCP was actually the one to suggest WLS to me. I had diabetes (uncontrolled), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. I also have BCBS ... call and ask them to email you the coverage and requirements for medically necessary WLS under your plan. This will help you prepare what you need for your PCP and make sure you have any other documents you need. My PCP supervised all my attempts over the years so I didn't need to prove that, but she has also been my Doc for almost 10 years. My other suggestions is to ask questions .... even if your PCP can't answer them right away, it shows two things: 1. You are genuinely interested in knowing all the positives/negatives that might come up. 2. You are human and have concerns or questions. I also think it helps a PCP to see that they might need to brush up on the process if they don't know the answers. In general, it opens a dialog with you and the PCP to allow them to remain a part of the process. Best of luck! -

Today's weight 195 Thank you! -
So this morning I am sitting there, enjoying my coffee & watching the news when I got an itch on my shoulder. I reach up & scratch only to discover this hard lump near my neck. Imagine my surprise when I took out my phone for a selfie and discovered {GASP!} my collarbone!! It's actually showing. No longer hidden beneath all the layers of chubb that used to reside there, I could actually SEE IT. Had to take a photo to show my hubby too, after he walked in on me giggling like a school girl and rubbing my neck ... admiring my collarbone! (Don't know why the photo is sideways, but that really is a bone showing!)

I use the Centrum Senior Chewables ... can't stomach anything orange flavored and these are berry-ish. My NUT check through it all and was totally okay with these in place of the recommended ones.

6 months out ... Early Morning: decaf coffee Breakfast: greek yogury w/ 10g Protein powder added, or scrambled egg w/ cheese, or veggie burger, or cottage cheese w/ Protein Powder & diced peaches Snack: 1/4 cup dry roasted edamame Lunch: Soup, or chicken salad with a baby bell cheese, or tuna, or chili Snack: protein drink Dinner: protein from my family meal, or veggie burger, or chicken sausage, or ricotta cheese with tomato sauce

Longest was stalled for 3 weeks .... ugh!!! NUT told me to try to increase my Fluid intake and to make sure my Protein was a minimum of 70g per day. Also she suggested I change up my meal routine and my exercise routine to "shake up" my body. So, instead of my normal yogurt for Breakfast I had dinner at breakfast (larger meal) and then 3 small meals the rest of the day. I also mixed up my walking routes so that I wasn't doing the same hills at the same time. 2 days later my stall was over. Done that twice now and it seems to work. Good luck!!!!
