I usually drink Dunks ... but there are NONE around where we are staying. What's your go-to Starbucks drink?? Preferably hot & caffeine is ok.

Has anyone been able to stop hiccups when you eat??? I get the hiccups *every time* I eat, without fail. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Sometimes it is happening when I drink too. I am almost 9 mos out with no other complications/issues. I know sometimes if you eat too fast or too much it can cause hiccups. This isn't the case. It is NOT from overeating ... sometimes all it takes is one bite. Sometimes a few. Sometimes I can drink all 32oz without one hiccup, and other times it starts immediately & continues as I drink. I've asked my DR & NUT and they both said it would subside over time. It hasn't, and sometimes they are so forceful that it hurts & I can't eat any more. Anyone have a similar experience? How have you dealt with this??

I second @@Miss Mac ... the syntrax nectar were my saving grace! Thinner than most other powders & more asking the lines of juice.

Comments from only one sex
WorkinOnMe replied to Briardlady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with @@Nurse_Lenora ... they may have feared sexual harassment charges. I have seen the same thing in my workplace though. Those I see often, or the women, are always commenting. The men, although you can clearly see the surprise on their faces, will not say a single thing. A sad sign of the times. -
I had a similar problem at first. The only ones I could manage was the Syntrax nectar Fruit drinks. Mixed with Water so much thinner and easier to drink. I also added ice to make them super cold. The fruity flavors were more like juice for me, so that made it easier too. I started by having 2 per day and weaned back over time. Now I use them primarily when I need a Protein boost or I know I will be on the road and not be able to eat solids. Good luck!

WorkinOnMe replied to vsgSarah3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And today's weight is brought to you by the words "stall" and "frustration"!!! 185 .... again, still, whatever way you want to look a it. -
Have been looking into getting a Garmin watch & not sure which I like. The 10 & 15 look very similar, and then there is the 220 ... any thoughts?? Like or dislike them?? Birthday money is burning a hole in my pocket!!

Congrats & Happy Surgiversary!

On full liquids I was allowed sugar free fudgsicles. I used this as my "treats".

Lime water? What do you drink?
WorkinOnMe replied to pamelardz91's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was off citrus for a bit because of the acid & the healing tummy. It wasn't too bad, and I am a lime Water girl myself. HATE plain water. Because I was forced to try new things I found that I really like the Powerade Zero (blue) drops, and the Mio lemon-lime drops. I also drink a lot of Hint water and SoBe waters as well for a variety. Now that I am far enough out I can have the citrus again, but I find I don't use it as much as I used to. -
@@pamelardz91 I know you are probably just curious & looking for information, and not necessarily a sh!t stirrer, but this is one topic that tends to blow up quickly & BADLY!! If you are really interested in the responses, do a search for "alcohol" and read the answers under previous threads. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, or discourage you from asking questions, but this is one topic that seems to bring out the worst in some people. Best of luck!

ROFL!! It is a cozy workplace ... then again, I have worked with some of these people for 15+ years and if you know ANYTHING about the education field we aren't ones to hold things back. Definitely a "tell it like it is" group of friends here! Just glad that I was on the receiving end of something positive ... it goes both ways with that!!!

"Share" toolbar suddenly sliding in from the left

@@Alex Brecher Houstin, we have a problem kathy LOL! Are you having similar "issues" ? Using Chrome browser and keeps happening here too ... it is smaller this morning than it was last night, but annoying as heck! -
Had reflux pre-op, mostly due to a hernia that was fixed during surgery. Post-sleeve, no issues ... but still on meds to make sure. At 9 months out Doc is starting to wean me off of them. I also have a spine injury ... nerve pain with radiation and neuropathy in my left leg. Was pretty debilitating for the past 5 years & even did a stint in an intensive rehabilitation program. I lost pretty rapidly with my sleeve -- down 120 lbs in just over a year (9 months of that post-op). The weight loss has taken a great deal of pressure off my spine & I have seen a dramatic improvement. Don't let the thoughts of other sway you though. Everyone's journey is personal. Talk to your surgeon & lay out your pros/cons for each WLS, then see what he says. Mine was more than willing to discuss & debate it with me until I reached a decision.

Does anyone else feel the things they swallow go through the stomach?
WorkinOnMe replied to reesecup2626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At first I could feel almost everything. Dr & NUT both said it was due to inflammation in the beginning. It did go away, mostly. Almost 9 months out now & I can feel cold (like ice cold) beverages as they go down, but that is about it. I still get really good restriction & can't eat big bites, but doesn't hurt & doesn't bother me anymore. -
Today's win ... a co-worker just commented "Hey look at you sporting the thigh gap!" I have a gap? BETWEEN my thighs?!??!?! No sh!t

Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
WorkinOnMe replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. I am at 120lbs lost (total pre & post-op) and am not quite 9 months post-op. Everyone is different & I firmly believe that it depends on not only your body, but also where you start. -
I like oatmeal, but know a lot of people don't. Have you tried cream of wheat? I also like Protein pancakes. They can be made & re-heated. Here are some good recipes, but I usually stick to the basic one & add fruit. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/20-best-healthy-protein-pancake-recipes.html I had a hard time with eggs at first, but I was able to do egg muffins. It is a different consistency than eggs. These are the ones I usually make. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/222586/scrambled-egg-muffins/ And like Surfer Girl suggested ... try non-breakfast foods too!

3-4 weeks (after incisions fully healed) for baths and swimming. 6 weeks for hot tubs & jucuzzis due to high heat could make you woozy while you adjust to your new weight/body.

Post op in hospital question...
WorkinOnMe replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I showered on the 2nd day post-op. That's only because it took so darned long to get them to come take out my catheter & by then I didn't want to wait for the LNA to approve me to shower too. Otherwise it would have been earlier. Wasn't allowed to "wash" surgical incision sites, but showered nonetheless and washed my hair. -

If this wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious
WorkinOnMe replied to Sharon1964's topic in The Lounge
Oh wow ... totally just laughed out loud while reading that!!! Course, I got some funny looks from my middle schoolers and really COULDN'T explain what was so funny! oops! Don't think I will ever think about TACOs in the same way again ... And the Mommy-son thing, well, no. Just plain no! The 40-miler sounds promising, but I would be a little leery of the hotel & rental car ... no way to trace ANYTHING on that one. Convenience? Maybe a little too much. But it could be legit. Who knows. I say whatever you do, keep your sense of humor ... if all else fails at least WE are enjoying your tales! -
Sounds like you all are getting the snow we were originally expecting ... can't say I am totally sorry that it is missing us though! Best of luck as you hunker down & ride out the storm!!!
